    I hear this a lot when trying to teach people who say “I’ll never get good at this” or “ I can never do that” and so they’ll set that expectation and will never take that first step

    I hope people still feel the need to pick up a pencil or brush or something and experience the act of drawing in future. I still feel it is a very central core of being a human being. It scares as the technology advances and fast content consumption becomes the way of feeling joyful. I hope these advancements don’t take away ourself from us. I hope kids still draw in the future because it is fun.

    Bobby, I love your tips - especially this one.
    I recently saw a video of an elephant doing a line drawing (quite a nice one, I'll add) of an elephant by holding the paint brush in his trunk. If an elephant can learn how to draw, any human can learn with his hand, mouth or foot.
    I'm in my late 40s and not very long ago started a career as a professional illustrator. I'm far from the best but, as you say, you don't have to be a certain age, but just invest the time. I'm investing the time to get better with a few select experts - you, Marco, Nathan and the SVS guys - and loving every moment of it!
    Thanks for everything you're doing. The art community is the very best. I truly love how we help each other in so many ways.

    I fortunately have this mindset covered and had been playing the long game, investing time and effort in learning. But I can't help to think that my progress had been going rather slow, where doubt starts to creep in even if you know that things does indeed take time to see any improvements.

    I really like your shorties. :D
    This here relates to me so much. I have trouble accepting that even after almost five years of deliberate practise I lack in so many aspects of art. There are so many people improving much faster which makes me feel like a slowpoke idiot. ^^° I am afraid that it will take me another five years to get decent at least :,)
    I'm looking forward to the next video

      I'm feeling the same , but I'm 31, so if it make you feel better, if you are younger than me, things will be cool and you have whole time to achieve, some stuff come fast, some a bit take time n its completely okay 🙏🙌💫🌌

      Oh and I know there is at least 1 interview on his channel of an artist that started pretty late and now do great in the industry but I saw it a very long time ago 😵

    I sell myself short not bcos I want to but bcos literally not a single person would be interested in my work otherwise. I dont it's fair for someone who has literally millions of followers who would have fans clawing their way and begging to see their art to tell smaller artists who literally have nobody to just "raise your prices" or "one person spending $100 is better than 10 people spending $10". 0 people is still 0 no matter how much you wanna slice it and $10 at least pay for something. Not everyone has time when there's rent to pay or visas to worry about. If you wanna help upcoming artists you should be using your platform to promote them and get them in the spotlight, not telling them this and then ignoring them when nobody shows up and they have to fend for themselves.

      not everyone is gonna make it thats just a reality - there is still some luck involved. That being said a social media following isnt needed to get professional jobs in the art industry. And im gonna be real... a lot of people that focus too much on their following or complain about their lack or reach just arent there yet with their skills. As much as some people are underestimating their own potential there are just as many that overestimate themselves. There is fierce competition and just being ok isnt gonna cut it - you gotta think big but also dont underestimate the effort that will be required.....

    • @piplupcola
      @piplupcola Рік тому

      @@allanredhill8682 I think you're missing the point of my comment, I'm not talking about needing to have a big following to get into the art industry. I'm talking about how big famous artists love making posts like this about "taking your time" and "not selling yourself short" but when smaller artists ask for help and advice on how to actually put themselves out there for people to see and get noticed they get blatantly ignored by the same people proclaiming their giving "advice" to small artists. These big time artists aren't in a situation where their struggling for rent, or getting by trying to get into art jobs when they have to work other jobs to pay said rent. You're saying like their just worried about followers and not working hard but all the smaller artists I know are working the hardest, slaving away through the night making art because they have to work a menial job in the day to get by. Unfortunately this industry is no longer about you just being good at art, if you dint have connections even the best artist wont get hired cos no one will see their work. That's what I'm talking about. It's not just a gen z ooh I need followers to validate myself. As an actual artist in this industry, there's no way someone can be an artist right now just by "taking their time" and "not selling yourself short". There is no time. There isnt a choice for people to not sell themselves short if it means making $10 instead of $0.

    I have a good tip too: If you dont wanna sell yourself short, think like a man. Be over confident. DO NOT, by no means, think like a woman. Don't be a woman, unless you absolutely must, either.
