Ryan is spot-on with his analysis of this song. Beyonce had undoubtedly been called a diva in the negative connotation of the word, and this is her way of taking power and control back. She plays with gender roles and says that a man would just be called a 'hustler' for doing the same things women do or acting the same way they act in the music industry.
Dead bodies in a trunk. This is my second time commenting 😅 I am usually a silent Beyhive watcher. I have been a fan of Beyoncé since I was in 7th grade in '98 when she was in Destiny's Child. I love watching people become fans of Bey in real time. I have been watching you guys since the beginning of your Beyoncé journey. Welcome 🥲
You should see her performance of diva from the renaissance tour! Her vocals are insane, as usual😅 I was lucky enough to go to her paris show and it was the BEST experience ever! Love your reactions guys❤ keep up the good work!
Yeah, love talk her ish Rap-yonce, during this era (and beyond) she used her lyrics especially when rapping to clap back a little to what was being said about her in the press and online. I think that's part of the story that Nathan is missing- the background and maybe some context of the time of the songs release- i.e. I believe at this time too more than just her was getting the negative edit for being female bosses/singers/celebrities Oh and dead bodies in a trunk lol
It was her previous futuristic era, somewhat intergalactic and different at that time, but this was the style then. I enjoyed that theme and her album when she created it, and some only gravitated to some of her more classic songs on the album. She just kept stepping it up and shifting the goal post, so although not everybody loved every track, they undeniably loved some of the other songs that came with the sound at that time. We grew with her sound and imagery and saw the gradual evolution, which is why fans have been sensitive about the order in which the music is listened to. I get it though, I like that you respect her artistry enough to listen in any order as you are both listening with a keen ear and open mind.
Dead bodies in the trunk :-) Jay Z released "I Just Wanna Love U" in 2000, which contains the line "I'm a hustler, baby." I always wondered if this song was her response.
Ryan has really got the vibe of the video 😊. She was portraying her Alterego named Sasha Fierce.
The Sasha Fierce era. Rap-Younce is always a pleasure.
Nathan what Beyoncé was doing is what they call rap-singing she started it in the late 90s it’s a style she has used for a long time
