It makes me cry that John and George are dead, yet Paul's still going strong along with Ringo. And this song just makes my crying worse. God the Beatles are good at making sad, but great songs.
PAUL McCARTNEY: "I was going through a really difficult time around the autumn of 1968. It was late in the Beatles’ career and we had begun making a new album, a follow-up to the “White Album.” As a group we were starting to have problems. I think I was sensing the Beatles were breaking up, so I was staying up late at night, drinking, doing drugs, clubbing, the way a lot of people were at the time. I was really living and playing hard. The other guys were all living out in the country with their partners, but I was still a bachelor in London with my own house in St. John’s Wood. And that was kind of at the back of my mind also, that maybe it was about time I found someone, because it was before I got together with Linda. So, I was exhausted! Some nights I’d go to bed and my head would just flop on the pillow; and when I’d wake up I’d have difficulty pulling it off, thinking, “Good job I woke up just then or I might have suffocated": Then one night, somewhere between deep sleep and insomnia, I had the most comforting dream about my mother, who died when I was only 14. She had been a nurse, my mum, and very hardworking, because she wanted the best for us. We weren’t a well-off family- we didn’t have a car, we just about had a television - so both of my parents went out to work, and Mum contributed a good half to the family income. At night when she came home, she would cook, so we didn’t have a lot of time with each other. But she was just a very comforting presence in my life. And when she died, one of the difficulties I had, as the years went by, was that I couldn’t recall her face so easily. That’s how it is for everyone, I think. As each day goes by, you just can’t bring their face into your mind, you have to use photographs and reminders like that. So in this dream twelve years later, my mother appeared, and there was her face, completely clear, particularly her eyes, and she said to me very gently, very reassuringly: “LET IT BE.” It was lovely. I woke up with a great feeling. It was really like she had visited me at this very difficult point in my life and gave me this message: Be gentle, don’t fight things, just try and go with the flow and it will all work out. So, being a musician, I went right over to the piano and started writing a song: “When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me”… Mary was my mother’s name… “Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.” There will be an answer, let it be.” It didn’t take long. I wrote the main body of it in one go, and then the subsequent verses developed from there: “When all the broken-hearted people living in the world agree, there will be an answer, let it be.” I thought it was special, so I played it to the guys and ’round a lot of people, and later it also became the title of the album, because it had so much value to me, and because it just seemed definitive, those three little syllables. Plus, when something happens like that, as if by magic, I think it has a resonance that other people notice too. Not very long after the dream, I got together with Linda, which was the saving of me. And it was as if my mum had sent her, you could say".

He probably was thinking of he's 3 best friends, 2 dead, the other not in touch, and sitting there with him back in the 60's with his awesome beard and his young voice.
Paul after 1980 kinda went to hell, look at 1975 Paul. Resolved conflict with Lennon, performing with wings and Linda. Just having a great time, time skip to about 1998 and Linda is gonna die soon and a few years after that george goes also. His young voice goes about 1997. amazing man and he’s still making good music and i’m so proud of him for staying around after all this. He’s such a nice and pure guy.
The lyrics were wonderfully matched to the melody , and when I was depressed , how much was healed by this song. Paul is amazing ! He is the only genius musician in the world
Muchas gracias, maestro Paul. ❤
Was fortunate enough to see him at Bonnaroo a few years back. You could almost feel it, everyone there anticipating one of the Beatles to walk on stage. His performance was awesome.

My dream came true a while back when Paul was playing in Krakow, Poland. I bought a ticket months in advance, and then flew there from Sweden over the day just for the concert. I've seen most of the big bands out there and many are amazingly good live. But Paul... That was just simply magical. No one has ever come close to the connection with the audience that he had that night. Best concert of my life with my favourite artist of all time.

Though the sands of time shift, Paul’s voice is still as beautiful as it ever was. Gives me chills. Keep singing Paul. You have one of the most wonderful gifts there is. If I have a son, I’m naming him Jude.
I was lucky enough to see Sir Paul in the late 80s. Of course, it was in a stadium and I had seats that felt like I was looking down at the stage from the dark side of the moon, but I wouldn't trade the experience for the world. Let it be,, people. He's been a rock among the chaos for over half a century and we're STILL not getting the message.
I'll say that this song saved my life after my father passed away - 12/23/2014. One of my pass times with him was going to concerts - dad was a musician. Most of my taste in music was influenced by him. Sir Paul in Atlanta - October 2014 just 2 months before he passed - was the final show he and I attended together. Paul was one of his heroes. I remember looking at my dad during this song and saw him wiping a tear from his eye. I must've played this song 100 times when he got sick and eventually passed. When the world loses Paul McCartney, I will be absolutely useless for a week or more. He truly is a global treasure.
Im so sorry. Your father sounds like te best musician. May he r.i.p. I listened to this song quite a few times as well when my grandmother passed away as i felt that this song reminded me of her. We can both get through this together 🙏🏻
You're right Ryan...I myself is currently feeling the same way when you lost your father...mine, my very best friend... I must have played this song over and over to convince myself and accept that there are things which can never be the same again...things left unanswered... the only comfort that i get is to sing this song and say to myself, Let it be...

Paul, you are my hero. I promised my 2 daughters when 2020 is over we will see you. Where ever. I love you.
When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
And whenthe broken-hearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer
Let it be
For though they may be parted
There is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shined on me
Shine until tomorrow
Let it be
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be
Ler it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let ti be
高野豆腐 did anybody ask you for the lyrics? Speak only when spoken to ass hole
Paul Slayed Everyone..........I wish he lives Forever....so one day i will attend his concerts One Day 😍😍
This one is one of my top favorite songs from The Beatles. Although is so hard to choose... All their songs make my heart race. Love them 2016 hell yeah!!!!!
what about glass onion it says the walrus was paul.
and if you reverse all of the songs it gives
u clues that paul died in a car crash and that he died even in the album book things it gives clues.
He probably was thinking of he's 3 best friends, 2 dead, the other not in touch, and sitting there with him back in the 60's with his awesome beard and his young voice.
+SophieSays- Minecraft and More! Yeah....
at the time of this comment paul and ringo recorded music together so hey theres something
He is in touch with Ringo tho, you are totally mistaken about that, they are still best friends till now.
The lyrics were wonderfully matched to the melody , and when I was depressed , how much was healed by this song. Paul is amazing ! He is the only genius musician in the world
Most of what you said was true but he is not the only genius.
Muchas gracias, maestro Paul. ❤
I feel the joy in drummer's eye when he got that eye contact from Sir Paul
i'm crying seriously
+aning azzahra ,-)
yes
Why?
i agree with you...
don't cry my freind
He's 80! And still making incredible music!
If we ever needed proof that Gods walk amongst us, here it is - so much joy from one person, Wow!
I hear this song and remember that God walks among us.
My dream is to see him playing this song live, don't want anything else at the moment
Hello beautiful Diana
"And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be"
this is beyond amazing... omg i'm in tears...
Was fortunate enough to see him at Bonnaroo a few years back. You could almost feel it, everyone there anticipating one of the Beatles to walk on stage. His performance was awesome.
Got to be one of the most beautiful songs of all time. Everyone has a little beatle in them.
My mom always play this song for me before I fall asleep when I was a child , which always give me feeling of peace and comfort.
And WOW Paul's voice still sounds amazing♡
This song has really reached into me & moved my emotions like never before, it feels like a wave has washed over me, making me feel all the love I have in my life is stronger than when things wrong & to "Let it be", by listening to the " words of wisdom " given to you by someone
wish music was like this today :/
Same
Same!!!!
It happened... in the 90s
The long and winding road karaoke
Why are people disliking he is the lead singer of one of the most amazing bands
At least he was
He is legend and this song every day im listening my eyes bring to teardown
The most amazing musician. Most bands sound horrible live. But here Paul is in his senior years and still knows how to knock it out of the park. Love you and God bless you Paul for all those wonderful sing along songs You, Beatles and Wings have given us
Happy Birthday Paul!! I'm 20 years old, but you're one of my favorite singers
Passion is passion. I love how he loves hes music. I love paul so much. Hes music will never fade.
I needed this song today😢😅thank you Paul
Sure this will not be published, but I truly love THE BEATLES, especially you Paul! I hate time has to go on as far as to the music we lived through together; I am still young when I listen to you. Thanks for the great music!
My moms favorite song, and now she's in the hands of God. I miss you soooo much Ma' 😢 Almost month since you left us . Mama bring me here 😔😔
You make mankind what it is today. Thank You.
Best concert of my life with my favourite artist of all time.
came here today for Gabby Petito Rip Beautiful. She had the words let it be tattooed across her. Speaks on the kind of person she was a light taken too soon. Rip gabby petito
Still beautiful. I hope I can One day see him live!!:)
Though the sands of time shift, Paul’s voice is still as beautiful as it ever was. Gives me chills. Keep singing Paul. You have one of the most wonderful gifts there is. If I have a son, I’m naming him Jude.
2024 who's with me?
I’m with you 😂
Absolutely me !
We are all with you 😊
We still here
I was lucky enough to see Sir Paul in the late 80s.
This is one of many songs that have help me through hard times. And it's one of many songs the world needs to hear now during these crazy times.
2:57 OMG THIS PART AND THAT "Let it bEeEE"
