I am always encouraged to improve myself as a teacher, taking from your example, Jo. And, best part is, you share tips and tricks so our journey is much easier… Thanks for leading the way, Jo!
I am finishing my CELTA this Saturday. I want to focus on tenses, grammatical form. I love fiction writers however, so would like to be able to do something that involves literature in my development, using authentic texts with my students.
What a wonderful story to your background to your teaching career. Thank you for sharing Jo and so pleased to hear that you are still pursuing your development.
I got my TEFL certificate last year at the age of 61, mainly as an entry point to what I hope is a second curve career shift. I don't know that I have it in me to go back for a master's degree - been there, done that - but I'm always looking for ways to grow my teaching practice. Thanks for the helpful tips!
@@elttraining I'm teaching an intro level adult class right now. It's tough, but the students are great and I love the challenge of being intentional about instruction. I'm looking forward to taking the summer off and reflecting on what worked and what needs improvement. Always learning and growing!
Continuous learning is important because of new tech-words, for instance, like: "Facebook' and 'Twitter' (In Arabic language), may confuse, even a genius if regular 'updating' in the field of language is not practised.
Definitely- and AI has moved everything up another notch! I also think that constantly trying to hone your craft in the classroom or online is important :)
This is God sent, cause I am struggling to understand which way to go about my PD. Not sure if CELTA is what I need, since I only want to teach kids between 7- 15 y.o.
The celta course felt like a military training where the tutors did not care about the learners / student teachers and expected us to do whatever they said, despite lack of support, just to get the certificate.
Sounds like you were at the wrong place for the CELTA. I received loads of support from my tutors and my peer teachers back when I was in training. Where did you get your certificate?
Thank you!❤

Have you seen Seoul Foreigner's website, Jo ? It's really good, on that realm.

You’re welcome! I’m not sure I’d recommend an MA in your position anyway but maybe CELTA if your TEFL cert didn’t have any teaching practice?

I got my TEFL certification at the Language House! 😃 Now, after teaching for a while, I’ve gone back to school for my MA TESL.

I'm taking a Teaching Young Learners cours in April
That's great, Esta. I KNOW you have such a great attitude to CPD!
I am not a native speaker and I have done TESOL. Can you please suggest me some good job opportunities?
