I am a self taught artist, but I hardly ever study to get better. Today, however, was a day where I simply looked at the way I draw eyes (Which is very anime inspired) and thought "Holy crap this looks horrendous", and finally mustered up the courage to look for how to properly deconstruct an eye and learn how it works. Anyway, this video may be rather old, but it definitely helps a lot. Thanks a ton, Proko!

Im 5 years late, but here's a really helpful tip from my experience: take down notes from the video, draw out what you see and give it some notes, it really helps me alot with remembering these
This was very educational. Thank you. Now I can practice all types of eyes now without getting frustrated. I know what to look for, and how to approach the eye with comfort. Again Mr. Proko Thank you *bows*

Let me say this, subscribe to the channels you like because chances are that the information you’re looking for is on the favorite channels you’ve subscribed to. I’m glad I did.
I'm practicing drawing both the eye and the basic head structure using these videos and I had one questi0n: how do you...or do you...alter the structure to account for variations in appearance between eyes and faces?
First you need to be familiar with the average. When drawing a portrait you identify what the differences are and what is unique about that person then make the adjustments as you see them.
Proko I guess I was wondering if it is the underlying structure that changes or is it the fleshy parts on top of the structure...if that makes sense. Great series, by the way. As soon as I can I'm purchasing the Figure Drawing package.
The bone structure stays similar, but the exact shape changes from person to person. The fleshy parts can change dramatically with body type within the same person. Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoy the series.

You do a very decent job at explaining the more essential aspects of anatomy. Glad you're putting that to good use. I learned a long time ago that not every good artist is a good teacher and not every good teacher is a good artist. Very difficult to find a person that excels at both.
This is rediculously well explained, how could ANY aspiring artist or casual sketcher not find this helpful??? Whats with the 64 downers????????? Well done man.... I really liked.... L.
I really appreciate you explaining and demonstrating not only the anatomy of the eye itself, but the surrounding skeletal structure as well. It really helps when it comes down to drawing it myself.

i was hoping to learn somthing i already didnt know, but well. Thats it, you nailed every detail that (a reasonable human) needs to be known to draw the eyes.
You are really patient and give me a good understanding of the eyes. Most artists leave me hanging with them just drawling it in front of me; but your tutorial was easy to follow and understand. Thanks I know that this will help me grow
