Man, that Cassius and Darrow heart to heart was my favorite scene in the trilogy. Just the emotions at play. Between finding out Roques most watched video was the brothers moment at the Institute. Cassius realizing Darrow still can’t talk to anyone. And then the “I wish you were harder to hate”… That scene will always be one of my favorites
Been waiting to start Iron Gold until this video was released! It's a great way to recap the events of the previous book and get excited for the next one before you start! Looking forward to checking out the podcast once I'm current with the series!
Heh, the mention of people who stopped reading at the Sevro scene at the end... Exactly what I did. I put the book down I was so mad. I came back a few hours later cause I knew something had to give but I was not happy for a bit
Love the “Cassius is the gold Darrow would have been if he were gold. The path he would have taken” point and the Cassius vs roque contrast with the conversation points
I just finished Morning Star last night. As the other two spoiler talks of the series, I was saving this for after I was done. Always good to hear these talks and have these recaps. Being able to watch these spoiler videos is like a sort of reward for finishing books.
Thanks for the recommendation, Mike. My gf will be finishing it soon as well. If it were not for your enthusiasm toward Red Rising I wouldn't have read it now. Really liked the series and will be reading Iron Gold someday.
Was a day late! Powered through Morning Star in 3 days. Will be ready for book 4 discussion though. First time reading through and easily one of my favorite series now.
Just finished Morning Star, what a book! I cried tears of joy & sadness all throughout, that was a thrill ride.
Thank you for this stream. A lot of fun. Sadly middle of the night for me, so had to watch after the fact :)
I remain of the opinion that at no point Darrow says or thinks Sevro is dead in the last part. It just describes Sevro's body in all kinds of states. Reread 2 times an do not feel it was really cheating out of the 1st person perspective.
Great discussion!
This is for my audio fellas ! PLEASE DO THE AUDIO DRAMA 😍😍 the audio reading was rough but once i listened to the audio dramas , bloody damn. It was Prime
Love the channel but I think your fans would appreciate avoiding even light spoilers for the next books in a given series. You avoid mentioning specific plot points but saying things like (sequel trilogy spoiler warning) you felt the end was the last happy moment in the rest of the series is a pretty big spoiler. You make other references to characters who play large parts in the next books which also is a bit of a spoiler since it gives away who's alive 10 years later and who won't be killed off quickly at least.
If that ruins the book for you maybe avoid the internet.
That is both a sassy response and an accurate one lol. Keep up the good work and congrats on breaking 100k! @@mikesbookreviews
"the baby which is proceeded to be murdered" did I just get spoiled for the later books in the first 2 mins of the videos???
No, she says she liked that the son is not procceeded to be murder, not that he is. And she is referring to that third book. I won't talk about the rest of the books
Thanks for doing these! Very fun!
Can you read the chats in a designated time and not while the others are talking? There were conversations that should have developed that were derailed by chats. Too much multitasking.
Yeah, I'll get right on that.
@@mikesbookreviews sorry just trying to give constructive feedback. Wasn't trying to be rude or anything. I watch to hear you guys talk about the book but I'm just mentioning the consistent interjection from chats frequently broke the connection between you and howlerpod.
There is one character I dont see people talk about enough ..... Sophocles 🤣
Sophocles is just perfect 😍😂 ..... If anything happens to him in later books I will organise an iron rain against the author 🤣
You know what ... Sophocles for sovereign .... He has my vote 😂
Love the videos but really dislike that you mentioned specific stuff that’s going to be relevant in books 4, 5, and 6 (Belladona bombing, sovereigns grandson, etc.).
Red rising has gotten me into reading and it has been really fun to just enjoy the books. I never really felt like Roque betrayed Darrow, it just felt like he was blinded by his love for gold like Darrow was blinded by his love for Eo. I really didn't like the stuff in the end though, Sevro being half dead was to big of a "gotcha" and finding out that Cassius was on their side the whole time just waiting to release Darrow almost felt lazy, i was going crazy trying to figure out how they would escape or get back on the society with so few pages left. Maybe i just missed the hints though, could be.
Their audio quality took a dive from the golden won video. Weird. Still great content though
The part with Sevros ''death" really killed this series for me. It was insulting to the readers. He literally dies on screen, all the characters act like he's dead but they all know isn't dead. And its all just for a cheap pop when it's revealed he's actually alive. It makes no sense and I hated it.
