Kudos for knowing to so the final tightening with hand tools. It's amazing how many '"professional" mechanics would just run those screws down with a power tool. It looks like the regatta was fun. Keep the good stuff coming.
Thank you. I was so afraid of stripping the holes that I had to use hand tools to finish the job. That regatta was so fun. It’s obvious how much the Bahamians love sailing.
The Regatta is fun. Starboard is High Density Polyethylene you have to sand the sheen off like PVC for sealant to work, then again for a bond use have to use a special adhesive, after sanding and putting a torch to it... sooo.. I think you mean G10, that piece is stronger than the metal of the tank. You also now have a cutting board to Maritopia work area to save your feet from shavings. Regatta Sailing and a McMaritopia episode, love it. 🤤
Thank you for that info. I’d never known what it was. It definitely didn’t seal with just a cork gasket. Hahaha! Good catch! Must’ve been thinking about my anchor rode. That regatta was so fun! It’s so obvious how much the Bahamians love sailing.
I love my dewalt tools! They’ve lasted through years of my abuse, so I’ll stick with them. I’m actually on yet another passage, my longest to date, but I decided to opt into offshore Starlink data. At $2/gig, I’m being cautious with what I do.
Thank you! I’ll be fixing it properly when I’m holed up for hurricane season. Yep, 15/30 minute naps in the cockpit. On longer passages in totally open waters, now that I’ve got a loud AIS alarm hooked up, I might go down below.
This is the only one that’ll be like this. It’s because of the drone footage that I got from the Bahamian guy that covered the regatta. I tried every single thing possible to make it 16X9. I finally gave up. But I was grateful to have the drone footage from him.
It worked flawlessly. I’ve since replaced the fuel tank, so that patch is long gone. When I pulled the old tank, I had to hammer the patch off, because the 6000 was holding that strong.
@@AmysSoloSailingAdventures yeah it’s my favorite adhesive. It’s the Texas Pete of glues. I put that shit on everything. My wife used to use to add rhinestones to our daughter’s dance costumes. Had to make sure the area was well ventilated or she’d get real high.
@@bjswope8797 lmao. That’s a great description! Using on your daughters dance clothes. Hahaha. It’s definitely kid proof! I’d never used it prior to that. And I only used it then because I was fairly remote and couldn’t find anything else. But I’ve now got a tube on the boat for anything that might come up.
The gasket is what you needed, not the silicone. I hope the silicone didn't squeeze out and fall into your tank it will eventually clog your fuel line, most likely at the time you will really need your engine
Agreed. Though when you’re in the middle of nowhere, ya gotta use what you have. The original gasket I cut was too fuel soaked. And I didn’t have anymore. Fuel tank is coming out during hurricane season, though. I’ll either fix it the right way, or put a new, bigger tank in. The current one is the factory tank, and it’s only 19 gallons.

This is our favorite video so far, and not because you showed our boat in the video.
Hahahaha! I ended up not using any of the footage of me climbing your mast. The angle of the GoPro wasn’t good at all, it was angled too high.
You could always use a snippet for a short! JK. We will include some on a future vid.
Glad to see another video! Keep on keepin on mama!!
How’d you like this one, honey?
@@AmysSoloSailingAdventures I liked it!! It was cool!
@@maddyholloway6453 awesome! Happy you enjoyed it!
Greating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Howdy! Great to be back at it! I’ve been so dang busy over the last 3 weeks. Put about 1200 miles on Maritopia. And did a ton of work on her.
it must have been great to be there in person to see the regatta.
Omg, it was so neat! Seeing how much the Bahamians love sailing is so neat!
Hey, Amy. Great to see you back online. Looks like you’re having fun. I have the same dewalt power tools as you 👍🏼

Good to see people enjoying themselves! some big Booms on those? hope the sender unit fix is ok!
The booms were MASSIVE! They’re called Bahamian sloops.
I’ve put about 1200 miles on it since fixing the sending unit. So far, so good.
Glad to see ya again lol
lol. Good to finally have been able to make the time to get another video up! Thanks for watching!
Hi Amy, great fix on the fuel tank. When you are on longer passages how do sleep; short naps in the cockpit or heave to etc? Cheers.
Thank you! I’ll be fixing it properly when I’m holed up for hurricane season.

Amy when you edit make sure the video size is right, small screen on this one ???16×9 is what I use

How’s that E-6000 holding up vs the diesel?
