Then single payer gains broad popularity and support and suddenly we don't *NEED* healthcare, we need people to stop being fat, which is of course a moral failing that should be shamed, not a result of economic factors. If you look at his old comedy specials, you can see how much of an oaf he is. His special from 2000 literally said that Gore and Bush had almost no difference. The fact that Bill Maher is now acting homophobic should be surprising to nobody.

heterosexuality absolutely does not keep to itself. every single piece of media I ever consumed as a child had dating, crushes, relationships. if there was a boy main character and a girl main character they were either dating, had a crush on each other, or were enemies. this led me to believe that the only way for boys and girls to hang out was to be dating, and so I got a “boyfriend” in second grade because I just wanted to be friends with that kid. imagine the outrage the parents and teachers would have had if I had done that with another girl. instead I got “omg they’re dating, so cute!! they’re growing up so fast!!”

It's true that kids might not yet have figured out their sexual orientation at those ages (though some have!), but to say they don't have one just makes no sense at all.

@@sandpiperr I'm going to be 55 shortly here. I was sitting with a friend of mine a few years ago, actually he was in my cub scouts den. Turns out he's gay, all our mutual friends are gay or trans or bi, and about half of them are no longer alive. WE didn't know this when we were choosing each other as our best and safest companions through the abusive, hurtful Reagan years. We just kinda realized it afterwards that we'd all been drawn to one another because we fit together.
Kids know. The idea that our sexuality or gender identity can't be important at that age is completely 180 degrees from reality. Not being able to grasp my own identity, being too scared to show it to anyone, shut off millions of individual moments of connection with my peers, ensured that my social development was stunted and permanently marred. The psychological damage from having to play along with bigoted idiots so as not to make them uncomfortable is enormous. I resent everything to do with churches or the people who partake in them. I was attacked repeatedly by other students. Put upside-down in trash cans and shoved into lockers, alienated, called a f*g and worse. Some jerk kid from a local curch lured me and two friends to their grounds and then surrounded us, trapped me there, and started screaming at me that I was going to die and go to hell. I went from 'agnostic' to 'atheist' on that day. Even a healthcare professional who abusively refused to address my real health concern and instead turned my doctor's office visit into a moral lecture about my long hair, and when I told him I didn't compare myself to or give a hoot about jesus, told me I was sick because I didn't believe in his religion. My parents fired him so fast.
But the damage was done. I don't just dislike christianity, I effing HATE it with the FIRE of a thousand suns. I don't trust anything that comes at me with a religious stain on it. The emotional damage we're letting these PARASITES inflict on kids is unconscionable. I can only IMAGINE what they are going through right now while panicked, stupid jerks freak out that they can't just shout us queers into invisiblity anymore.

It’s a lot like taxonomy. We can invent whatever groups we want but the reality is we invented them. That the traits inspiring those groups are what’s real. Intersex people are more common than natural redheads with a variety of chromosomal information, internal sex organs, secondary sex traits, all outside the binary we invented.
They are categorized as genotyoic, your genetics, phenotypic, your body as an expression of these genes, and gender, the social/psychological identity and experience regarding sex and gender as a construct.

It's no coincidence that Our Flag Means Death & Julia were prematurely cancelled into pre-production of both their (what would have been) 3rd seasons. OFMD went heavily queer with it's story lines while Julia dealt with women's liberation, racial issues & even some LGBTQ issues as well.
