Aaghata portrayes the fight of a single woman against the rising want of dowry in the society. Usha is madly in love with Vikas the son of a panchyat head. As Usha is brought up in a small family Vikas's family disapproves of this relationship and asks Vikas to go out of town. This leaves Usha under complete trauma which gets her mentally disturbed. Vikas has returned from town and asks Usha to get married to him.
