Not that I know of. If you just want to use the Linux command line, you can install Ubuntu within Windows and it will run like a regular Windows application. It's called Windows Subsystem for Linux and you can find it in Windows Store.

@David William Carey Marri Paid tutorial? It's simple man... You need atleast 40 GB space to install any kind of operating system. If you want to install, say Windows 10, you'll go to the website download the media creation tool and execute it, right? So that simple. But if you want to work on ISO files, you need a tool called Rufus (Windows) or Etcher (Linux). Download Rufus, execute it, select the ISO file, select the pen drive and flash it. That's all. Note: First install the older Windows then the newer Windows version. If you didn't follow this, your PC may be bricked. And another Note: If you want to install Linux alongside Windows (or a dual boot), you must install Windows first, then create some free space and then install Linux. Basically installing Windows will remove the grub bootloader. So, follow the above. Once you've flashed the ISO file in the pendrive, you must go to not options, then select the pendrive from the list. Disable *Secure boot* in the UEFI settings (only if you have UEFI). (Going to boot menu: reboot the system, press F12 for lenovo devices or F8 for most of the devices which will list the drives which you can boot into). ★ Installing Windows: after selecting a pendrive you must see a blue colour screen which would then result in a blue dialog box asking you to select the language and keymap. Select it click install and select the partition which you have allocated free space. That's all. ★ Installing Linux: most of the times, you will get a live environment of the particular operating system. So select *Install Now* which is a shortcut, mostly present in the desktop of the live Linux. Then go on, select the partition, timezone, keymap, etc. and click install. You are done. (Be careful while selecting partitions; it may lead to data loss which cannot be undone).
I know already, but you *really should have stated* that formatting a disk will delete everything on it. You just clicked past the data deletion warning without telling viewers what it does.

@@Itsfoss what is that bionic file? Could you please explain?
Hi everone, I have the following problem: my pc with 2 disk, 1 hdd 500Gb, 1 ssd 128Gb, I using win 10 64bit on disk ssd, and before I install ubuntu 18.04 on disk hdd. And now I want to dual boot win 10 and ubuntu but I can't access to screen that options. Please help me! Thank so much.
Can I replace bionic AMD 64 to Kali Linux image? During flash that drive.
You may. Kali Linux installer may look a bit different but the main idea remains the same.
Followed your instructions and this Etcher turned a 4GB USB into a worthless 2.25MB drive that made it totally worthless! Had to go into disk management and dump the partition it made so I could allocate the rest of the drive that this joke of a software made unusable.
I have a similar experience with Etcher. The free Rufus program for creating bootable U.S.B. sticks is much better, works perfectly.
hi sir, ubuntu doesnt detect my hdd during installation, how do i go about it?
thanks
same with me..how did you correct it?? plz tell
@@dhruvmittal4992 Maybe you need another file system of your HDD. Search of it at internet.
I have Dell inspiron 14- 3467.

While installing I am not getting the option to install alongside the window10.
What should I do to install it.
don't forget to create the partition.
I have the same problem but I created a partition on Windows for installing Ubuntu there.
I am getting an error after selecting the Install Ubuntu option. It comes after selecting the language after which the screen goes all black and a bunch of information starts displaying stating "couldn't get size" and "Started Network Manager" and other things. Help me out please !!!!
Where did u find "bionic amd64" file?
Hey my usb space shrinked to 2.5 mb from 32 gb
Please reply fast
@@sarangpatil8775 I had the same problem with Etcher. Rufus will work better. To fix your USB partition issue follow these instructions. www.eassos.com/blog/how-to-restore-usb-drive-back-to-full-capacity/
Just go to Disk Manager and reallocate the space of the USB drive.
Great commentary! Loved the little puns. :D
Thanks so much! I am really conscious of my voice and accent all the time but your comment is uplifting :)
Partition UEFI 300>>500 Mb ?
Swap RAM unnecessary.
Ubuntu Linux The UEFI partition was created by the manufacturer itself. Swap size is always debatable ;)
Canonical has chosen to replace the swap partition, in 18.04, with a swap file that is integral with the root --- just like the page file in windoze

Q: why the USB needs to be formatted to FAT32 and not NTFS ? what will happen if I format usb with NTFS .. thanks.
NTFS is a File system for Windows - so will not work with Linux. FAT32 is supported by Win/Linux/OSX, hope that helps.
Thanks Jibwood, I was wondering that too.
Addition: FAT32 is supported by almost any operating system - if you format your external / second hard drive to FAT32 you can also transfer the files between ubuntu and windows.
usually it just read only in some linux flavors
FAT = File Allocation Table
Ubuntu read and write NTFS partitions out of the box
Getting this error
the grub efi amd64 signed package failed to install into target
How did you solve this ?
Thank you so much, but how do I downgrade and remove Ubuntu?
Guys pls don't use Etcher. It ruined my usb. Use rufus instead

@@Itsfoss why do you only respond to someone who doesn't have any issues while you don't even bother to help who are having one? 😡
@@unknownplayer10k Okay, what's the issue with you? Maybe, I can help...
This was an awesome tutorial, great job! You've earned my sub.
I know already, but you *really should have stated* that formatting a disk will delete everything on it. You just clicked past the data deletion warning without telling viewers what it does.
Can you show the other way around? I have linux mint 19.2 installed and i would like to dual boot windows 10 alongside. How can I do that? TIA
Hi, I dont get the option for "Installation type" when trying to install ubuntu, thus I cannot select the option of "something else" any ideas?

Go into bios and check for whether sata is raid or ahci because ubuntu can only be installed on ahci

Hi please help me something happened and now I can't access ubunto or windows and every time I turn my pc on it goes to bios system and it just continues what should I do and my hard drive I think is corrupt now
For HP Users press F9 to get that menu. F10 will open BIOS.

Good work
If I want to install windows after installing Ubuntu then grub is automatically vanished...there is no grub is showing..direct windows is opened.
That's natural. What you can do is to reinstall grub or fix the boot with a live USB of Ubuntu.
@@Itsfoss and how to do that...
How can I install Windows on my Ubuntu 2010 systen ?
(7:03) why did you set the bootloader installations as its default (/dev/sda)? I have seen other people set it on root partition (/ ) or even make different partition named "/boot". Which one is the better for UEFI boot and GPT disk? Thanks
If there is bootloader already present, no need to create another partition for boot.
@@Itsfoss Will there be any problem when I reinstall my Windows 10?
And once again. If I want to install other linux as third OS, can I set the bootloader installation place in (/dev/sda ) again?
Thank you so much, sorry for asking too much questions 😄
@@garudapenjunjungkebenaran5871 I have used the very same method and when I have to replace one Linux with another in dual boot, I just delete the earlier Linux partitions and create root. swap and home again. It has always worked for me.
Don't use Etcher. It's malware or spyware.
Hi thanks so much for this video very helpful, I have a question can I have both operating systems in one system but using two different hard drives? Thanks a lot
I have a 256GB SSD for OS and have partitioned my hard disk(1 TB) into 3 drives. Can I install Ubuntu in the drives from Hard disk and leave windows OS as it is in SSD space??
I have the same doubt
Yes, that's possible.
@@Itsfoss Thanks....hope it works fine....haven't tried it yet...confused about the swap, root, and other space allocations...
The free space selection at the installation stage says that it's 'unusable'. Can you please help? I'm stuck 😅
check out your drive partitions maybe? windows should have a place for that in the settings just search for drive settings or something
Also, for HP users: Usually, it creates some problem preventing you from going ahead, if yo select the option of 'Install Ubuntu without trying'. It is always better to select 'Try Ubuntu' and then use the install Ubuntu application to install Ubuntu on to the computer. (Necessary for both dual boot and single boot)
Yes I faced the same issue with my laptop.
Then, I deleted the previously installed once and then again installed and used 'Try Ubuntu' without install' first and then the full install.
While doing partition during installation it is marked as Unused instead of Free Space.. So no + Sign appear for further process..
Please guide anyone.. I have done everything but now I am stuck.. In video at 6:05 when he creates partitions of free space there is the problem
I'VE been for hourse and thanks to ur video finally I've done it thanks mate
Enjoy it :)
I want to install Zorin OS with Windows 10 and Android-x86
I have created a seperate partition for Android-x86 of 50GB and it is installed there
And I have created 100GB of "free space" for Zorin OS too
The main question is - Can I use this guide to triple boot Windows, Zorin OS and Android-x86 following the same steps you did in the video?
Yes, it should work.
Actually I did try it and now there is no entry for Android-x86 in GRUB menu
@@sudhanshumakwana7042 try running os-prober and rebuild grub and see if it can see Android or not. It would be also good to check the /boot/EFI directory contents
Actually I'm a newbie to Linux and I'm unaware of os-prober and stuff. Can you please help and explain more about it?
Thank you so much! It didn't work from the first attempt, but the problem was that i had more than 4 partition. So if it apears that the allocated space is unusable, just make sure u have maximum 4 partitions!
if we choose first option in installation type, what happens to existing windows 10 OS C drive, will it get erased?
No it would not. Actually, then Ubuntu will give you the option to shrink the drive and choose how much space you want to give to Ubuntu within the drive. You'll see where it is going to be installed.
@@Itsfoss Thanks for the response.
Actually, in my windows 10, I have C, D AND F Drives, I want to install this ubuntu in D drive ( dual OS), but I am not getting what options to choose and what to partition to install ubuntu in D Drive. I do not want to disturb the C drive.
