Much respect to you Jan Frode Nilsen & ALL your group for your tireless work & commitment. It was extremely encouraging to hear the FULL story. The more watchtower lied, the more it worked in your favour to completely dismantle their arguments to the government agencies by using watchtowers own literature. I thank the Norwegian government for listening.
Great interview and info!! When you all were discussing the Norwegian government's funding of religions and WT cashing in on that as a "goldmine", milking and bilking as usual, it reminded me of stuff I've heard/read that they do here in the states. Apparently, they oftentimes get grant money from various cities to have their "conventions" in that city because of the economic boost resulting from all the attendees. WT still wails about a "deficit" during the convention so the attendees are guilt tripped into donating while simultaneously having to pay their own way for lodging, supplies and meals. But WT quietly banks that payout.

In Austria, JWs wanted to be recognised as a “religion”. In order to achieve this status, they had to agree to let JWs participate in elections. I’m pretty confident Austrian JWs don’t know the organisation allows them to vote…
Omg we should start a movement the same way that was it was done in Norway! They’ll lose their funding there as well. At the very least , it would help JWs there be aware and have full transparency on their religion.
They still can't vote, regardless. They won't be kicked out of the religion, but they will be discriminated and soft shunned because they are bad associations if they vote and known. WT don't disfellowship the voters by laws, they just force them out, and take their families and friends away. What is the point to allow people to vote on the paper while they are punished if they vote by giving them the most difficult choice to make in life? Go to vote and lose your families and friends or keep them but don't go to vote.

I was baptized when I was 9 back in 1999. They definitely baptize children. Regardless of if they do or not, my "agreement" when I was 9, was a completely different one than what they baptize people under now. So why do people that got baptized under different terms, are held up to the new agreement that they weren’t even a part of when they became baptized? Idk. I’ve been disfellowshipped since i 2007 and didn’t find out about all the bs and crap until maybe 5 years ago. And it seems like they are really going down and loosing members left and right. I can’t wait til they go down completely. Hopefully it happens in my lifetime
Yes, yes, yes, this cult has taken so much away from so many. The only real apparent reason for the shunning is to stop people from comparing notes, and keep the gullible ones in who don't mind covering their ears. This cult needs to go down.
@@ingramwright5399 i try to talk to my parents and leave bits and pieces of information here n there in hopes that someday something will open their eyes or at least get them to doubt and research things. The sad part is they’re already in their 60s and have spent the last 35 years serving the watchtower. It would be a sweet but also sour thing yo see if they ever do wake up, cuz they’d know they’ve lost all that time they can’t get back. That’ll be a happy buy also sad day
When you're not born-in, they act as though you were a thrown away child, shame on your parents for not having found Jehovah. They are constantly correcting everything you say and do, the more interest you show. I was always having to have a Bible study, even after I got baptized. Most likely because I had a lot of questions. Common sense is what it was. I understand it's too late for a lot of the elderly ones to realize they've been hoodwinked and gave out a lot of bad advice,(altogether wrong advice). It just feels damn good to know I was right all along.
@@ingramwright5399 i was a born in. So it’s all i knew. I’m just lucky that my parents don’t shun me. I think maybe the congregation knows they don’t cuz i live next door to them and we still talk like normal. But they don’t get visits anymore or go out with anyone cuz they’re not invited. But they still attend zoom meetings and believe in it. They just blame us (myself and 2 sisters) for the name we gave the family. My dad was an elder and my mom, 2 sisters and myself were regular pioneers. So it all went downhill according to everyone lol
Thank you Jan and Jake! Excellent work Jan, thank you for the activist ideas about voter suppression. ps. WT has conflated not getting charitable status to being under ban. I never understood it fully as a JW and took their word for it. Until I became an ex-jw and was free to look into it and see that in many countries they were not under ban, they just didn't get special treatment like charitable status. They played the victim to the members/me. pps. One of my parental units was baptized young and after they died we found out they were keeping a huge family secret their whole life! I believe they were pressured to get baptized young to keep that secret, and to make their parents look good. For never-jws, the parents can tell the child that if you tell that secret you will get into trouble and disfellowshipped, hence shunned by your family and all your friends (insular group).
This is big, I'm so happy to hear this good news, no pun intended, because I've always thought shunning was so cruel, so evil. It's hurt my family terribly. I literally could cry, this is truly GOOD NEWS
Congratulations to this courageous activist! He has cost this cult 2M dollars. Tony Morris will have to be happy with cheap whiskey instead of his regular Mcallens 12.
Powerful. Thank you for producing this amazing interview. Every person has the right to leave a religion without punishment. Say “No” to emotional blackmail!!!!
Congratulations to those that worked hard to make it happen! Shedding light and letting nonJWs know of the harmful injustices that happen; is how I plan of helping ATM in my new recent awakening.
If you want to help JW's victims, write to the human rights court and make clear all their absurd doctrines where they seriously harm individuals so that someone takes action
This idea that a country's government would just give no strings attached money (I'm assuming tax funds?) to churches is kind of crazy to me. There absolutely should be fences around it, and purely being a "church" shouldn't be the maximum qualification. Especially an organization like JW, which is far from charitable and even treats its own membership terribly.
That was the best, succinct explanation of how churches are funded in Norway (and much of Europe, especially Scandanavia). A big blow to JWs in Norway to be sure.
This is crazy! What happened with being "no part of the world," "getting out of her," detaching from "Satan's System" and relying on Jehovah God to provide for his people???
Really interesting interview, well done Jake. Jan is inspiring and very intelligent. It really highlights how low this cult will stoop when it comes to money. I hope this inspires and raises more awareness of the real side of this destructive religion!
I do hope that this information helps others to see the hypocrisy of the watchtower society and escape. You can still have a relationship with Jehovah without intermediary of the governing body - if you want to of course. Thanks guys for covering this for us, good work.
I don’t know how I missed this, but I’m glad I finally saw it! Jan sounds exactly like my great uncle Ulf, and it’s so comfortable for me to listen to him, even with the difficult subjects.
As someone from the US, the idea of a state funding a church is absolutely wild. But the explanation given is really cool. It makes sense to have public support of things like funerals, salaries, and building maintenance. Still, I am very glad that the JWs lost the funding due to the efforts of Jan and other activists.

@@symone3113 yes they have become expert at swindling money from anyone they can. I learned about it when I saw what they did in Florida after the hurricanes of autumn 2004. Groups of witnesses bought materials for repairing damaged homes and roofs, then entire families travelled at their own expense to provide the free labor for the repairs. Local witness families provided food and lodging. WT did not provide even one bottle of water. Everything was on the backs of the local brothers. Yet WT's man with the clipboard was making sure to go around guilting the homeowners into turning their insurance checks over to WT. You can also bet that any donations WT received for the disaster were never forewarded to any who suffered loss. WT takes advantage of all who trust that they are an honest and loving organization. In reality they are corrupt and evil liars. They know the bible isnt what they say it is. They dont believe that they will ever have to answer for their crimes.

Well explained and good work in keeping a balance inside the JW's - to me its a initial matter of 'undue influence' when outside of a kingdom hall. Elders become police, not shepherds, and responsible for organised coercion at time without regard for the legal rights of the individual, including minors and their parents. Further I think it would be safer to move baptism to at least 18 as WT policy as the current effects of being disfellowshipped can be catastrophic, particularly for young, confused or lonely people. Suicide is a common result. On changing statutory laws outside of a court room that is part of the separation of powers doctrine - so in a court room the judiciary, if attempting to amend or write laws the legislative, however the path to do so would entail some objective use of the political system, even if then retreating back from a political intervention as part of representative democracy into the protection and cover of the law. Society has certainly changed, but the lack of honesty is concerning, and is likely to create a crisis of conscience in people who are honest. Sometimes the way the process is conducted is almost but not quite as important as the substantive matter itself. Thank you to both parties for your diligence.
Oh yeah, AltWorldly entered the sexy beard phase. Keep it, it's a good and mature look for you. Nice job on the grooming, too. Sorry for TMI, everyone... 😅

"Yes we are" they answered smilingly. "And you are aware of the required procedures for being members of a listed organization?" "We weren't aware of any requirements." "Well you should be. All who identify as Millennial Comrades and wish to obtain a Unification Certificate must also produce a verifiable sterility certificate. "What! We were not aware of this...why is this! Why?” "It is from national outcry and subsequent law established circa 2030. The members of the Millennial Comrades have proven to be recalcitrant towards the States pleadings to change their policies and procedures affecting children. These include insufficient protection of abuse, negligence in obtaining proper medical treatment, exposure to psychologically damaging and disturbing images of graphic violence, and forced indoctrination of superstitious fables. Therefore, with overwhelming public support it has been established by national law that henceforth any couple who identify as members of the "Millennial Comrades" and who seek a Unification Certificate will be prohibited from procreating. It was unanimously supported in Congress and signed into law by President Stewart. Your "Vessels of Knowledge" did not make you aware of this? “ “Well, not that we remember" they stammered.” With compassion he said, "Why don't you both take some time and think about it. You know, my great, great, great, great grandmother joined the beginning of your group back in 1935 with Joseph Ratterbag. Things change. The protection of our children has become our first priority. The advancement of our human society requires it. Please call me if I can help you in any way" "Yes, thank you" they whispered with heads bowed. He saw them to the door and as they left the young man turned and asked him "Who is this Joseph Ratterbag?" The caseworker smiled, put his hand on the young man's shoulder and said, "Come back and see me soon....we'll talk about it".
Hi Jan....just a thought do other countries fund watchtower the same way Norway 🇳🇴 did if so they should read the article in newspaper about watchtowers cult practices. You are doing great job 👏
As a JW myself of some 35yrs + , though faded, I know full well that the organisation is very adept at obfuscation and weasly words. And yes, Norway government is NOT BANNING the religion, it is just saying that if you dont meet a certain criteria that we have set out, we will NOT give you taxpayer money. For a religion that "prides" itself of saying we will not beg for money (as stated by the founder Charles Russel), it seems very much contrary to their stated mission.

Funny how they used to write about that fall of other religions saying the government will do this by taking all their assets. I wonder what they now say seeing that they are losing funding.
But according to Jehovah's Witnesses one evidence that the Bible is the Word of God is that the bible also tells about the errors of God's servents. So according to this logic, the Jehovah's Witnesses can't be the only TRUE religion because they only speak about things they did right and never speak abou things they did wrong.
Yeah I wouldn't be too optimistic about US politicians enacting any change involving religion. Especially the GOP is heavily backed by fundamentalist Christian donors. As in Norway, other religions would be scared, and unlike in Norway, in the US, those people actually control politics. Think about the Supreme Court, it is regressing in regard to human rights and keeping watch on religion.

@@noemytamayo9462 so they’re “soft shunning” your parents. SMH!!Damn passive aggressive cult.
It's so good to see more and more governments seeing through WatchTower's bullshit. I'm so eager to see the same thing happen in the UK and US.
Well th end game is to end all religions world wide apparently sooo
GREAT interview! Thank you Jake and Jan
This defunding is such good news. What a great time to be exjw.
If you want to help JW's victims, write to the human rights court and make clear all their absurd doctrines where they seriously harm individuals so that someone takes action
Bring the JW cult to the news, to the politicians, this is the way of activism.
This is one of your better videos as of late. Quality information.
This is great news. If only the United states would do the same. These people have hurt way too many of us.
Excellent work. Thanks for bringing the story to us!
Hahaha, it's the WhORG.

Superb job by this guy to get this result! Like he said its all the little things that make a difference. I'm betting the legal dept is the biggest one in the watchtower. Great video
Sweden has done something similar to the WatchTower organisation. It was not that long time ago that happened here.

Isn’t it being part of the world Taking money from the government as well?
It is, but remember, you can only cooperate or take part of worldly things if it helps Jehovah🙄😑
use world's money to make friends of justice.😏
Making use of unrighteous riches.
The letters JW’s were written by members who doesn’t know anything about how the cult treat their members. Remember they’re members of a mind controlled group and they do not conduct research on their religion, they’re little robots..
This is huge. Even is Watchtower only gets $100 per member then at 12,000 member they’d get $1.2 million per year. Not to mention the publicity. Well done.

Really great activism. I had no idea countries such as Norway made such payments. Do the other Scandinavian countries make such payments?
Amazing video covering this latest development .. thank you both 👏🏻👏🏻
These letter writing campaigns...I thought the witnesses were to remain neutral 😐. That's NOT being neutral.
Exactly!
@@nesbo7578 I actually received a letter or two from the witnesses during covid. I'm sorry to have to say this, but they are not too bright. In fact, this whole organization is really starting to show it's ignorance. If they are writing letters to the courts, they may as well vote.
@@ingramwright5399 That’s what happens when you limit your intake of information. If you learn in circles, you talk in circles. It’s quite liberating when you wake up and begin expanding your understanding.
I wonder what they were told as the reason why they should write these letters....I'm positive most still don't even know the reasons of the entire issue at hand
It is really only about the money
Thank you all for good work
Another wonderful video ❤️ thank you
This was an incredible interview
Thank you
Well explained and good work in keeping a balance inside the JW's - to me its a initial matter of 'undue influence' when outside of a kingdom hall.
Brilliant interview ! make sure you tell jan to steer well clear of LE, PLEASE ! great job, thanks.
The organization probably gave them a template to copy. I wouldn't be surprised if all of the letters are almost exactly the same.
Oh yeah, AltWorldly entered the sexy beard phase. Keep it, it's a good and mature look for you. Nice job on the grooming, too. Sorry for TMI, everyone... 😅

I wonder how many of those 2,000 letter writers read the three-page spread Jan featured in?
Holy shit! They were getting more from the government per capita than I was giving per year. Lol.
Let Jan know about Sandra Cowan, who was 6 years old when she got baptized. Her life story is in the w92 3/1 p 26.
There is no definition of the word '"children" that does not include under age 10. They are liars.
Great interview
Thank you so much!
So impressive. Great work from Jan and colleagues. Would love more governments to follow Norway's lead.
very informative. Thank you
They should sue to get that money back for all the years.
...and their appeal for the funding denial has been dismissed so the original government position stands. Thats gotta hurt....
This information is so good, thank you. Everyone who has stepped back, and away from this mind controlling religion, good on you. Norway Thank You. Each time you receive a letter from a Jehovah;s wittiness, ( the ordinary person) remember that they have been conditioned to give the required answer in favor of the Watchtower Society. That is how this organization works works. I have been there, done that, and now I run for the hills as fast as I can, away from that place.
Great news!
Whoa…wait…so they were getting a certain amount of money per member but the Governing Idiots still require each publisher to pay out a monthly fee to the society?!?!? 😳
That is correct!
Year 2084. The sovereign country of Ameratheist. Two young adults apply for a unification certificate before the Unity Department. Caseworker: "You are members of Millennial Comrades?" "Yes we are" they answered smilingly.
501c3 is giving them money by way of not paying taxes. They are suppose to be charitable.

Hi Jan....just a thought do other countries fund watchtower the same way Norway 🇳🇴 did if so they should read the article in newspaper about watchtowers cult practices. You are doing great job 👏
Norway Rocks!!!!
Massimo the good "Dracula" working for Jw s and ......scientologist..too...
It looks to me like watchtower is putting the noose around its own neck,
Guess they’re going to get some “new light” on not shunning before long.
I wondered that. What's more important, the shunning doctrine, or shunning? 🤔

Yes!! I want to know if and how this will affect us in the states! This needs to happen here to help free our family members from the bondage
I think the biggest anti watchower piece ever has been done by an American: The book Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz
It’s the equivalent of funding Bernie Madoff

Go Norway ! 👍👍
How ironic. . Government will attack false religion....the end is coming..... hahaha 🤣😂
Funny how they used to write about that fall of other religions saying the government will do this by taking all their assets. I wonder what they now say seeing that they are losing funding.
😂
But according to Jehovah's Witnesses one evidence that the Bible is the Word of God is that the bible also tells about the errors of God's servents. So according to this logic, the Jehovah's Witnesses can't be the only TRUE religion because they only speak about things they did right and never speak abou things they did wrong.
Good point
Since the government money was meant for the parishioners, can there be a civil suit filed because of WT pocketing the money?
Yeah I wouldn't be too optimistic about US politicians enacting any change involving religion. Especially the GOP is heavily backed by fundamentalist Christian donors. As in Norway, other religions would be scared, and unlike in Norway, in the US, those people actually control politics. Think about the Supreme Court, it is regressing in regard to human rights and keeping watch on religion.
Beware of apostates!
since the Apostle John
