- Today we are exploring New Gudauri with our kids. Join us as we travel from Tbilisi to New Gudauri in search of skiing! Learn how we saved a bunch of money on transportation costs (an overlooked hack), and check out our loft-style Airbnb.
We went for skiing, but discovered so much more! From sledding to Gluhwein to dumplings, Georgia is full of hidden gems. This developing ski area is quickly becoming a new hotspot for tourists with several restaurants, hotels, and outdoor adventure sports popping up all the time (downhill skiing and snowboarding, sledding, backcountry skiing, paragliding, and more).

I know, right? You would think they would be freezing since we are coming from the desert, but it didn't even bother them. They were born in Alaska, so maybe they remember the cold?

The kids haven't ever skied, so they didn't know what they were missing! We knew, but since they were having so much fun, it all worked out.

Great tip about Bolt, the transportation in each country is so important if you'd like to save money as well! We would really love to go to Georgia ski resorts, although maybe when there is a little more snow though. Glad the kids enjoyed the sleds :)
Bolt was great, and so cheap! Of course like a week after we left it dumped over a foot of snow! Next time, we’ll shoot for mid-January or February. The place was very cute.

Thanks for watching, we made the most of not having snow. December is a tough month in most places- hit or miss. Maybe next time... We'd love to go back and get snow (it ended up snowing a week later!!).
We used Marshutka's (the minibus system) and one train in Georgia as that the cheapest option of all - but not as comfy or continent as booking a driver and I guess with kids it's very useful. On our journey towards Kazbegi we saw a lot of these half built ski resorts etc, looks like they are preparing for an influx! Cute airbnb!
We had planned on using the Marshutkas, but Bolt ended up being so convenient. Next time, we will have to be sure to check it out! We hope to get back some day and ski, for real.

We enjoyed the New Gudauri area. Our Airbnb was very close to the ski lift. If we go back, I look into the new Radisson Blu hotel, and another Airbnb in New Gudauri
