I have had one of these for several years and it is great. Well worth the $$. The blades last a LONG time too. I would recommend this for any leather shop.
Very nice tool and I can see the value in it if you are in production. As a hobby/crafter, I couldn't justify the cost of getting one. It looks precision made so I'm sure that figures in the price of it.
Best part about this machine is when you are lining belts you only want to bevel the top of the belt until you get the liner glued onto the belt. So you machine edge the top half of the belt and use a fine hand edger once the belt is lined with 2-3oz veg tan. Perfect! Later Chuck.
If you don't want to sharpen it yourself you can send it to Weaver for sharpening (they have a sharpening service). I had one I was getting ready to do that with before I remembered I could swap sides and get six more edges. I have had mine for almost when they came out. But not doing huge amounts, so it has probably lasted me longer than most. I did try sharpening one of the edges and just used very fine sand paper, seemed to work. I suspect others have better methods for do-it-yourself though.
Hey Chuck I'm in south Africa can you ship to me and can I sharpen the blades myself or should I order extra blades I do high production of mainly 3 to 4mm veg tan leather

Weaver Leathercraft : Hi I have watched it a few times and have used the edger a few times , I just wanted your take on the edger .. the Chuck ingredient is missing from the Official demonstration!
Mind you I have the wholesale catalog, so maybe different for retail customers, although usually not for services like sharpening, but they have it in book for $12 (plus of course shipping both ways). I would recommend calling to confirm.
A slip cover for an A5 or A4 notebook with a slot so people can insert a bit of paper to say what it is. A cover for A4 ring binders so they look like olde worlde books. A4 ring binders are so ugly looking. Many people have an office in bedroom or living room (including me). I have significant mobility problems and have had numerous falls. Need two free hands to try and stay vertical. Getting up in middle of night going to bathroom I did wonder if you could come up with a very easy and quick way to secure mobile to wrist. That way if people sleep naked or in t-shirt and underwear they have a mobile in case of a fall? I also wondered about some sort of nice bracelet with star of life on it, maybe impossible plait reverse side is the principal condition eg: diabetic, epileptic, allergic to penicillin and a line of text saying look inside. Inside is sheet of paper with all the details needed for medical care. There are medic alert bracelets and necklaces but they are limited in information or companies charge a lot (~US$40). Ironically some people react to jewellery and can't wear them. A leather case for asthma inhalers with belt clip of some sort so it can't be misplaced and some people especially children get embarrassed carrying it round.

For me it works with thicker leathers, including Chrome tan as well as the PVC sheeting the sell. But it does have a bit of an issue with thinner leathers that are wider. Just my experience though. Works extremely well on 7/8 ounce leathers and heavier.
I think if you call, you can get it with a specific blades instead of the default, but it has been awhile since I got mine. I have both the double sided one and then later I got the single sided one shown and only needed the "0" blades and that is what I got with it. But it has been awhile, so you may have to get it with the default to start now. Call and ask though.

Yep, would love one, just disagree with his 'affordable' comment!

I need one of these so bad. My edge beveler always slips off and the bevels are never even
Eventually These will have to be sharpened. How is that done?
Might have to get me one of these Chuck!
how do you stop marking the leather? i get two straight lines all the way down the leather
This. Is. Incredible.
Once you have rotated through all the blades, how do you sharpen it?
If you don't want to sharpen it yourself you can send it to Weaver for sharpening (they have a sharpening service). Send it out to a blade or tool sharpening service. Plenty around
Hello. I need to bevel my 3/8" straps. The description says 1/2" to 3". Thanks for a reply! Will this work for me??
The smallest it can be set to is for a 1/2" strap, so no it will not work for a 3/8" strap width.
how are you sharpening? she and blade? or there’s no way to sharpen more after using all sides
Yes, they can be sharpened. We recommend taking them to a professional to get sharpened.
Hi Chuck, can you sharpen the cutting wheels your self or do you have to send them back to you for sharpening?
This is the question I kept waiting to be answered in the video. Unfortunately, it wasn’t.
Not good when they make statements they cant reply to when there is a problem :(

OLD LEATHER SMITH here, QUESTION CHUCK? I have made belts from 5/16" to 6" wide, what difference sizes can I do with this device? GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
Hi Jim!
This machine can do straps 3/8" wide up to 3" wide.
@@WeaverLeatherSupply Thank you, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾ 🙃
@@WeaverLeatherSupply I guess when I make my custom SANTA BELTS I still have 2 do it by hand, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
I'm doing tapered belts, seems obvious this can only do straight or parallel belts?
Yes, that's correct - straight only.
@@WeaverLeatherSupply Thanks! Looks like I would need a handheld groover for the tapered belts.
Please demonstrate the double edger , I purchased it and need some explaining...
Hi there,
See if this video helps: ua-cam.com/video/8Q21o6bqBP0/v-deo.html

I need one,I am from Sri Lanka, how I can get
How do you polish the back side of veg tan, so you have 2 sides that are comfortable for clothes and holsters so you don’t need a liner?
Hi there!
If the back of the leather is rough, you can apply gum tragacanth or tokonole and burnish it using a bone folder or glass burnisher.
Looks like it's great to use the shaved off strips for strings too.
@@maddawgnoll oh well darn. What about for decor pieces? Like parts that's not for holding parts.
@@maddawgnoll I guess it's good to always try. 😁
What does Weaver charge to have the blades sharpened? I "searched" the website and didn't find any info...

Can this be used for dog collars and leashes??
Yes, as long as the straps are straight, you can run any straps through. It just won't work on tapered or scalloped straps.
Price please
Excelente.
Does this only work with belts? Can I bevel edges of say wallets etc.
Nope, wallets would be way to wide and too flexible! Belts are stiffer and narrower.
The widest pieces you can run through is 3 inches wide.
We can use it for 10 mm thickness?
Yes, you can!
i wish they were in stock!
Hi Mae,
These should be in stock on 1/15.
