I've just bought an O303 to convert into a motorhome. V8 turbo diesel 12.5 metre Australian body 1990 build. The downside is that we don't get the driver's door.
A real legend on wheels. I don't think there will ever be another coach so great for its time as were the O303 and the Setra S215HD (powered by Mercedes V8 of course). And I wonder if any Tourismo or Travego will live to see 25 years of service as these old beaties did. Having to chose between a 30 year old Merc and a brand new Chinese bus, I'll go for the Merc without hesitation: they are more comfortable and I trust their reliability 10 times more. I found Chinese buses & coaches on the whole are lousy...looks nice (looks are easy to copy) & appear decent in features BUT when they run on the road, the suspension ride quality & engine refinement noise vibration harshness levels & other details are simply not up to the same standards as 10 to 20 years older generation German Mercedes-Benz & Setra buses & coaches !! Yes, i'll agree between a brand new Chinese bus or brand old German or even Brazilian Mercedes-Benz bus.....for a superior class of travel experience it's a matter of course no need to bother with the Chinese junks which only look nice but the 'standard' is simply not there. Just like you sit in a Chinese car versus a German car, the overall 'feel' factor is simply not up to the same standard. Of course the Chinese might say their price is also not the same, but when looking for the best definitely a Mercedes-Benz overrules..whether it be the Citaro, O 405, O 303 or O 404 etc.
Schön, ein guter alter 303. Hab ich als Fahrschulwagen gehabt, und hatte ihn auch als Linienbus und als Reisebus gefahren. Gute alte ausgereifte Technik.
