Fallout Plays Hey thanks for your time in making the video! I'm sorry to be "that guy" but theres a few things that i think are worth pointing out to get the most out of the charge blade. First is you absolutely want to dump phials into your shield before you want to burn them in axe mode. This is because a charged shield gives you the damage bonus, lets you charge your sword, and finally gives you a guard as strong as a lancer. The improved block can save your shit when rathian is bearimg down on you and you dont have any where to go. The sword charge combo is not Holding circle and triangle. Phial dump is just tapping r2 plus circle no need to hold, the actual charge comes from holding triangle, so make your life easier by just tapping circle and then holding triangle to get the timing. A charged up sword does NOT cost any phials but MAY cost some sheild charge duration, and has whats called minds eye that also does elemental phial damage with every attack. Minds eye means your attacks wont bounce letting you worry more about executing attacks and less about your sharpness. The elemental damage means if you have an impact phial weapon youll just obliterate any breakable parts on the monster. Try it on Barroth and laugh your way to mission complete. The weapon during transformation has whats called guard points. If you block an attack with a guard point i think you get some phials? But in truth im not 100 percent. The charge blade is a cyclic weapon. Build red charge, dump phials, build red charge, go to axe mode dump phials into sheild, dump red charge into more phials, charge sword, then all aboard the pain train. Give it a go sometime.
Guard points do two things: deal small amounts of phial damage and combo opportunities. Landing a guard point has less recoil/knockback and allows you to go directly into some powerful attacks for what is basically a counter. The phial damage is useful if you have a status or impact type charge blade since it applies the status on hit. This phial damage/status also happens on the shield thrust part of the sword & shield combo, but only when the shield is charged. In fact, having the shield charge is required for your biggest attack too. Charging the shield buffs almost literally every aspect of the weapon and lasts a good while so there isn't much reason not too. Impact charge blades are also amazing at KOing the monster btw.
Hey pretty big error in your video - charging the sword doesn't take phials, all you need is charged shield. You make the claim in your video it's better to use phials on axe attacks (true), but when you have shield charge the sword buff is free.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to use this weapon for the longest time, this is the first video out of the multitude I’ve watched that actually show you how to charge the shield to get the amped elemental discharge. Now that I know how, I can’t wait to give it another go, props to you my friend
After using the charge blade for around fifty hours, then giving up with it, you are the first person to show me how much potential it actually has. I assumed the super elemental discharge was merely a random occurrence, but I had only ever charged my shield on accident. Now I know that it is a necessity. Thanks for the video.
At the end of your elemental discharge combo you can press left bumper to activate savage axe slash, it does essentially the same thing as charging the sword but instead powers up the axe mode
@@Unknown-ri7zu think that was a mistype rather than them not being able to figure it out, but either way its probably just better to go into the training area and make the connection there, never liked mouse and keyboard for this game though
Don't forget, the empowered sword uses the energy from the phial in the weapon. So if it's Paralysis or Poison, you can keep hitting them w/ that status effect to get it to proc faster. Also, if I'm not mistaken, that charged circle move, it's actually more beneficial to let go just as the blade lights up, because you'll charge your phials faster. If you wait too long you don't get as much charge.
That's an important point about elemental/ailment charge blades; Impact phial blades are popular & flexible but if you're speed farming something and you can use an elemental/ailment Charge Blade to exploit their weakness ALWAYS have your sword charged, especially if your shield is blinking. Charge that blade to keep your elemental damage up while you refill phials for the SAED. Personally it's hard for me to give up to final Diablos blade but I know there's got to be more to the Charge Blades than just that one blade and build, hopefully more people can theory craft some interesting sets for this weapon.
I've been playing MHW world since launch, my first one, and had settled on the hammer and long sword, but after talking to a friend about the charge blade I decided to try it out. In the last day or so I've watched a ton of vids but your's is the only one that fully explained the phials and how they worked with the weapon. Thanks for that. Now I'm off the test area to try it in game. Cheers. Great vid by the way.
I had absolutely no idea how to use this weapon when I started the game with it. Thanks for explaining the phials to me. When my axe was glowing my regular attacks would no longer work and I became very frustrated watching my swings bounce off the monster. Now that I am not intentionally feeding I can give the game a real chance haha.
I don't normally like to like these videos because you know reasons but this was clear concise to the point and informative without going into like a 20 minute spiel about absolutely nothing like most other videos do.
Barely got the game and wanted to use this weapon as it seemed cool, didn’t know what tf I was doing as my phials were full and red and my attacks would just bounce off the monsters and didn’t know I had to store them thank you as this was actually really helpful
finally..more important detail.about charge blade explained..i searching for charge blade guide..mostly they tell u how to built weapon and combo..ur guide is perfect for new player ...tyy finally i know wtf is phials and how to use them properly..
Once again thanks fallout, I could not figure out how to charge the sword so I thought hey I heard fallout is making some monster hunter videos he'll teach me. As always you a gentleman and a scholar.
Dude, legit. This is like one of the best MHW tutorial for a weapon I’ve seen so far. Everyone else’s videos are kinda half assed when explaining and I don’t get the gist of how to use it. But you break it down much more simply. Good shit!😛😈👍🏽
Never see these kinds of videos mention the fact that you can charge the actual axe directly if you use the L2 or left trigger on top of the shield and sword charge
Thank you, I've beeb wanting to switch to CB from GS but I would hopelessly forget how to charge my shield/blade before watching this video. You've just made another charge blade user.
Love it! i tested all the weapons and landed on charge at launch. Nice to see so many others took the same path. It's a really fun weapon to use. Good guide.
I had nonidea how to use this for half its power! Your super informative and fin to watch while being excellent learning material. Thanks for the video! Let's keep hunting
Bruh. Everything I read always said it’s good to store in shield but never said how to do that. I’m late to the mhw game but still u think shit but more explained. Thank u for the quick easy explanation. I’m subbing my dude. Idk if u worry bout that shit but thank u. Been playing wit my son who’s 9 and been trying to help him and I couldn’t figure this out.
Was a switch axe main saw the charge axe thought it looked cool and strong tested it looked super complicated but I really wanted to play with it looked at this guide I'm now a charge blade main
So this tutorial is great for slow or early monster but against faster high ranks or Elder Dragons you should always try to keep your sword and shield out. The more time you have your axe out, the larger a window the Elder decides to mess your day up. You can charge and use amped element discharge and charge your shield without over bringing out your axe. Plus if your shield is out then you can block most of a monster's attacks. Just my playstyle and some food for thought
Some small inaccuracies/missed info i noticed: 1.) Charging your sword does not expend any phials, it doesn't cost anything. It only requires your shield to be charged. Chargin your sword also gives you natural mind's eye on your sword attacks, so they won't bounce 2.) Shield charge does one additional thing. It changes amped element discharge (3rd attack in axe circle combo) to super amped element discharge, which creates a wave of phial explosions on impact. (Shown in video but not explained) 3.) If you don't store your phials once the icons start flashing red, continuing to attack in sword mode will cause them to become bright red (the sword will also start glowing). In this state, all your sword attacks will start bouncing until you store phials, unles the sword is charged.
This is true -you can store your Phials while it's yellow, but if you do it red you get 5 full Phials, and if you do it when yellow I believe you get just 3. I should've mentioned that in the vid, but thank you for pointing that out
JuliusAwen flashing red means your attacks bounce off and when it’s red you can 1)charge to get 5-6 phials or 2) if you’re charging phials charge shield and instantly be able to charge again, charge the blade if you want to, or go straight into a saed
It's worth charging up your sword imo. Two reasons why: 1) Axe mode is more dangerous and sometimes not worth the risk. Having a pink sword will really help you squeeze out dps if you dont want to risk axe mode in a fight until it's safe to use it. 2) SAED does even more damage if your sword is pink too.
having your shield charged is easily worth it. I chatge my shield then get phials ready to be stored then dodge an attack and immediately r2 circle triangle to store phials and charge the sword in one go. SAED is well worth the phials as long as you use it wisely. I only use phials 1 at a time if its against a small and agile monster. Also fyi for others- if you're into min maxing then raw damage is better than elemental. Affinity also has no effect on SAED, so weapons like Diablos CB with highest dmg but negative affinity are great if you do SAED often.
If you hit triangle and triangle and circle amd then triangle and circle again it will take you into the amped super element discharge and you can cancel from there. That's favorite way of charging my shield
For any future similar videos, can you explain what the role is and the playstyle? like how Hammer bros always get to attack the head, and Greatswords do huge damage but their speed forces you to only do a single hit most of the time
…….Fallout……..Fallout did Monster Hunter videos too?…….My mind is blown. I was playing Destiny AND Monster Hunter then…..how did I never know you made MH videos?!
You should do a video on hunting horns. This video was really helpful, and I feel like a guide for hunting horns would be appreciated by a lot of new players, including myself.
Hunting horn is great! Heres a few things to know! Each horn has 3 notes. Notes are tied to triangle, circle, and triangle plus circle. These notes combine to make songs on your note staff. IMPORTANT: every horn has a two note triangle triangle song. Have this buff up at all times full stop no exceoptions. Playing the song once gives you movement speed, playing it a second time makes your attacks no longer bounce. These are super important. So once you have a song all setup in the staff, press R2 to play the song to play once and smash a monster in the face, then if time and positioning permits press R2 a second time to do even more damage and get the second rank of the buff. You can press R2 and movement stick direction to reposition a bit while playing. As you fight you'll notice you can store up to 3 songs at anyone time and playing them will be tied to R2, R2 +triangle, and R2 + circle. Using the button combo you can play that stored song, or if you press R2 with 3 songs stored you'll run down the whole list top to bottom which i use to rebuff myself and my party. You can tell if people are in range of your song by looking at their name in the party list and seeing the flashing blue note. While everyone says hunting horn is support, theyre all wrong. The hunting horn is just as capable as any other weapon. If you arent playing songs to hit a monster you are wasting huge amounts of damage. Try and focus on the monsters head. Blunt weapons break things very well, do lots of stun damage, and finally exhaust monters making their enrage shorter (i believe not 100%) making them drool and get tired. I adore the hunting horn and if anyone ever wanted help with it I'll do my best to help others.
Moochewmoo Cool, thank you for the information. Some of that I knew already, but a lot of info like buff stacking and self buffs I didn't know about. I've been using the hammer for most of my playthrough, and the hunting horn interested me, but I wasn't really sure how a lot of its mechanics worked so I didn't mess with it much. But now that I know a bit more about it I may give it another crack. Thank you very much.
....i used to love this weapon...im a vet player n capcom just made this weapon...more complicated to charge shield..thsnks for your help but on xbox....i give up
You've also forgot about the Axe charge that you can do to gain extra damage with the axe that doesnt burn the phial easily. I shall explain: just like with charging up your shield you can charge up your axe. Do the same steps as charging up your shield but instead of pressing R2 after your Triangle and Circle combo you press L2 and that will make it so you do more damage and the blade/shield will spin during the axe attacks. The triangle attacks won't burn the phials easily but the circle attack/combo will burn through it quickly. These are useful if a monster is on the ground and weak for extra damage and to cut off the tails
That's because the switch axe isnt 70% convoluted, you can just sort of pick it up and mess with it and it's pretty damn obvious how you use it, the charge blade however takes a bit of tinkering
Step 1) attack the monster until your sword is flashing red and the attacks bounce off. Step 2) press R2 and circle 4 times (i press circle like 20 times like a child playing fighting games - this attack usually stuns and throws big monsters on the ground. Step 3) profit.
You really should be charging your shield first basically every time. It doesn't take much to fill all the Philes. Most of the time when I am fighting a monster I'll get full Philes with a second set ready to be filled before I even have a chance to pull out my axe. A charged shield and sword really increases your damage by a lot and is worth waiting one rotation, it also allows access to your strongest attack the Super element discharge but you have to charge your shield before you can pull it off.
Hope you enjoy. I'm liking MH:W so far, it's seriously deep and easy to get lost in. Every now and then, you just wanna bash giant creatures, nahmean

You forgot about the super amped element discharge...
It's the same input as amped, only you need the shield powered up
Did you watch the same video as me? He went over it many times.
At the end of your elemental discharge combo you can press left bumper to activate savage axe slash, it does essentially the same thing as charging the sword but instead powers up the axe mode

Fallout Plays flashing red is really bad because all your sword attacks bounce until you dump phials.

It's worth charging up your sword imo. Two reasons why:
1) Axe mode is more dangerous and sometimes not worth the risk.

Thanks man. I finally got it down thanks to your video. You got a sub now😉

You should do a video on hunting horns. This video was really helpful, and I feel like a guide for hunting horns would be appreciated by a lot of new players, including myself.
Noted

AED good at elemental / Dragon attack, but if you're going RAW damage you should spam SAED, bc that's the true power of CB.
Hunting horns, where are you at!
Fourth???
who the f*ck is this
Oof
Let the bamboozoling begin
I don’t know if it’s the same in World but in Rise you don’t need to recharge your vials after charging your shield to then charge your sword
it's the same in World
@@TheDorianTube yeah I tried it, but it only lasts like 30 seconds.
Actually useful 👍🏽
....i used to love this weapon...im a vet player n capcom just made this weapon...more complicated to charge shield..thsnks for your help but on xbox....i give up
No discussion on saed and guard points?
For more damage charge sword and shield then start swinging the axe
So many videos about the charge blade going around and barely anything about the SwitchAxe.
Rafahil I mean switch axe isn’t too crazy to use, from personal experience it used to be more like a slow LS but now it differentiates itself a little
Charge blade imo is a step up after using switch axe
That's because the switch axe isnt 70% convoluted, you can just sort of pick it up and mess with it and it's pretty damn obvious how you use it, the charge blade however takes a bit of tinkering
excellent video, it helped a lot.
charging the sword does not consume phials. as long as you charge the shield beforehand you can charge the sword
Just started the game, use the proto commission axe II but it turned red after swinging a couple times( is that bad)
In mhgu the axe mode's bread anb butter is x a a (normal, elemental2, super. You do not want to ultra in mhgu!)
Wow, that weapon would fit effortlessly in the RWBY universe.
Did he explain how to charge the shield, I don’t know why this is so hard for me to figure out 💀
Real good vid. Hope that you make some other video about MHW
