I've been to the hospital 4 times for alcohol withdrawal and to a detox center. I'm 29 and 6 days sober and I plan to stay that way.this episode means a lot to me... thank you Shane for your story.
You can tell when Shane is talking about his past it gets to him in his heart and mentally mad respect for this dude and have had respect for him way before this interview
I'm not sure how anyone dislikes ANY of these episodes. They are just chock full of Skate legendry and knowledge. I feel its necessary to know the history of skating and hearing and watching it from these legends is just perfect
yay you guys listened and finally got one of the baker/deathwish dudes on here! Thank you guys much love for listening to your fans. we recognize and appreciate it! nine club for life!!
So hyped hearing Shane's story, seriously inspirational brother!! Crob, Kelly, Roger - the show keeps getting better and better - keep up the incredible work and thanks!!
I donno what quitting drinking is like but I did have a 16 year battle with opiates(heroin/dilaudid/fetynal/oxy-o.p's) and amphetamines(crack/meth/dextromethamphetamine) that left me with a memory much like Shanes, and it sucks when ppl ask about your past and you have so many jaded memories and all the years are intertwined. Especially if the person asking was there for one of the many incident's you can't remember at all. I'm now 4 years kinda sober(been on methadone for the last 4 years) and my skating has suffered greatly and is the main drive for me getting off of the methadone. This little interview just gave a little more momentum to my stride towards being clean(I'll never stop smoking weed because it's saved my ass many times, and continues to be a driving factor in my "sobriety") Big up's to Shane for 10 years sober and being confident enough to admit his short comings. Now when anyone calls him the GOAT, it's means greatest of all time instead of goat foot imo. Maybe not the greatest skateboarder, but definitely the greatest inspiration/roll-model for the kids "coming up". Much love for anyone in a battle with any of the self destructive addictions. "From the rattle in my chest. to the escape in my breath, I'll be rollin', skate till death"
Been on methadone for over 10 yrs get off while u can! /it does help cravings and keeps u stable and not sick but its super hard on ur hormones (low testosterone) which can lead to tons of health problems down the road. and pretty much sucks the life out of u and makes u a lazy unambitious slug...... Congrats of being sober tho (when methadone is used the right way i consider that sober).
I've seen this guy in the background of footy before. Especially at Beibels park but I didn't know anything about him except he was always hype. Honestly I expected this episode to be kinda boring because I didn't know him, thought he was just some no name friend that would be uninteresting to me. Turns out this is one of my favorite interviews. He had a great story to tell and told it well. I really like Shane Heyl now. I'm a fan. I'm gonna look up more footy of him now. Awesome job guys.
wake up monday and see SHANE HEYL!!! This show is the best - thank you Chris, Rog, and Kelly for putting it down for the passion and def not for the money. Can't wait for a Reynolds episode!
This interview inspired the shit out of me! Shane Heyl was someone who was never the best guy on the team or even one to be noted when it came to his skateboarding.... to me that is! I have seen from other aspects how he was great for kids who were hanging with friends on another level than them because they had a shane heyl to compare themselves to! Like Ali Boulala to flip but man he turned that around 100% and is now one of "the dudes" really building off of his skateboard success! Good on ya sir! You are as real as they come! CHICKEN BONE NOW ITS ON NOW ITS ON!!! Btw that video in its entirety wiith all the grainyness and rawness added to that back story..... I see a chicken bone tatt in my near future!!!! His track with Weezy is dope too!!! His verse went off!
Anyone from that era of flip would be great especially Arto Im sure he would have some stories about his 6 major knee injuries, everything with Shane and Ali and just how fucking stacked the team was when they were in the Sorry years.
The fact that the switch flip switch manny that marc gave you is still playing in the background is amazing. This is easily one of the best channels on youtube.
Shane Heyl seems like a really cool dude. Among the best episodes yet. Definitely get the Boss on here, ask him about the team cuts, I've always wanted to know the deal with that
Nothing but love for The Nine Club, Shane, the Junt, Baker. Such a good episode once again. Always make my Monday's. And like the man said, more Baker, Deathwish, Shake Junt homies. Please!!!! Oh and strait up killing it with all these links in the description. :]
Shane has been a huge inspiration the way he got straight, his love for his homies and skateboarding is unparalleled . it's interesting how everyone in the industry or not can feed off of each other and maybe see that there is hope if one;s all fucked on life or drugs/alcohol, then realize the most important of them all........ skateboarding!
Man, when I saw Shane's part in the Baker video, it instantly became my favourite part in the video. I watched it so many times. I knew he went to war to get those tricks and he is the heart of Baker in my opinion. So cool to watch this and have him affirm exactly what I thought.
He fucking did it. At 36. He turned Pro. I'm 29 and trippin on what I'm going to do in life, and this fucking stoked me out. I love this dude. Nine Club all day.
Bring Bam onto the show, hes had a lot of heat for putting out some footage lately and its awesome to see him back in the skate world. clear some air and give him some love. might inspire some people
Fuggggg yes major shouts out Shane and da nine club! I hit one year completely clean off heroin and everything including alchohol. I've never felt better man. It's like you shed your skin and there's a whole new person. This was awesome. Keep rockin Shane da mane
Thank you guys for delivering my weekly dose of the Nine Club. Please get Pj Ladd on the show, do everything you can to get him on here. The dude is like a fucking unicorn, and he was the first skateboarder who really awed me when I started skating.
Fuckin' DLX Worldwide '99. I love that video. The stereo section was by far the best. Dollin lip sliding the chain link fence rail... Pete Eldridge... and the little intros to everyone's parts... Stereophonic Sound!
Dog everybody at nine club thank you ..nothing like enjoying some chill time with nine club Gettn hyped on all this great talent soaking up the positivity and realness ..this helps me with my healing process and growing progress ..whatever bull I'm going through, the nine club just washes away while I watch ..thank you nine club thank you skateboarding
I love going back and watching these old ep's again. But they show you how important a good mic is! Not that you couldn't hear them but sometimes they sounded a little muffled. The difference in the sound quality nowadays is light-years above what it was!
Him and Quim Cardona were my favorites mid to late 90s but it seems like Gershon kinda felt burnt by the industry and his interviews are generally very minimal. I’d love to see him on here though. Quim too.
Roger needs an award every episode my man does not let us down with the skate facts !!
ssJonson1 fuck right lol
ssJonson1 hahaha straight up!! I love it!
Dude drops so much knowledge!
Roger is a legend
Damn you’re right like he knows everything Shane is talking about even finishing his sentences
I've been to the hospital 4 times for alcohol withdrawal and to a detox center. I'm 29 and 6 days sober and I plan to stay that way.this episode means a lot to me... thank you Shane for your story.
Pete &Pete hope you're still doing good.. If not, tomorrow is always a new day.. Take care of yourself
@altamontdavid STFU
How u doing
Hope your doing well. 3 years sober?
hope you're doing well and still skating brother
I like how they decorate the background for each episode differently for each guest specifically
Much respect for Shane's honesty
So cool to hear Shane's story. I'm glad he pulled ir off
yes! thank you Roger chris and kelly...so good to see this one
You can tell when Shane is talking about his past it gets to him in his heart and mentally mad respect for this dude and have had respect for him way before this interview
"Grab mah nuts" is the first thing I think of when I see Shane haha, I'm so glad he referenced it.
Evan Gregory hell yeah, legendary. From Baker 3
I still say this like 5 times a day at least
Seriously NINE CLUB, can this show get any better? Best show on youtube hands down!!
Love from New Zealand
I'm not sure how anyone dislikes ANY of these episodes. They are just chock full of Skate legendry and knowledge. I feel its necessary to know the history of skating and hearing and watching it from these legends is just perfect
yay you guys listened and finally got one of the baker/deathwish dudes on here! Thank you guys much love for listening to your fans. we recognize and appreciate it! nine club for life!!
Jamie Foy was on before Shane.
So hyped hearing Shane's story, seriously inspirational brother!! Crob, Kelly, Roger - the show keeps getting better and better - keep up the incredible work and thanks!!

Take care of yourself. You are an inspiration too.
35Y/OSK8ERLOVINGLIFE SK8ERVERYTHING good on ya man!
35Y/OSK8ERLOVINGLIFE SK8ERVERYTHING never stop smoking weed bro. No excuses necessary.
Crack is not an amphetamine.
And we're back... This is going to be a good one. So many good stories to come.
I've seen this guy in the background of footy before. Especially at Beibels park but I didn't know anything about him except he was always hype. Shane's hella positive. Legend
Very inspirational, thank you for such amazing content. I look forward to Monday's so I can watch some new amazingness.
You guys should get motherfucking GEOFF ROWLEY on here!
Geoff or Penny would be insanely awesome.
si mart I read somewhere that penny can't come to the US or something like that I might have read wrong though. but it would be cool though
Penny aint about that life.
Anyone from that era of flip would be great especially Arto Im sure he would have some stories about his 6 major knee injuries, everything with Shane and Ali and just how fucking stacked the team was when they were in the Sorry years.
honestly if you guys could somehow get tom penny on the nine club that would be dope asf
The fact that the switch flip switch manny that marc gave you is still playing in the background is amazing. This is easily one of the best channels on youtube.
I can't watch it all now, but I hope there are more tom penny comments, always cool to hear stories or small snippets
Shane is the man! Definitely get some Baker / Deathwish guys on the show... Maybe Ed Templeton too??
I'm going to call it right now. The nine club is the best shit since 411 video mag. Who else agrees ?
1:09:27 "There was alcohol involved..." as Roger sneaks a sip from his hidden bottle under the table lol
Congrats on 10 years Shane! Thats incredible!
Shane Heyl seems like a really cool dude. Among the best episodes yet. Definitely get the Boss on here, ask him about the team cuts, I've always wanted to know the deal with that
