After my husband died 5yrs ago I started getting friend request from men I didn't know, military, doctors ect..
I sold our home of 20+ years & moved to town, bought a smaller place. I've watched a LOT of these videos, & so glad I have, I'm not going to give my money to someone I don't even know or to some I DO know.
I didn't have an abusive marriage so I have no reason to find 'happiness' now. It's terrible what some people will do to the lonely & elderly.
I'm 70 years old, I have mirrors in my house & I know exactly what I look like.

My mom is 77. After an extremely abusive marriage and a terrible divorce, she started to travel, live for herself and enjoy her hobbies. She never dated someone else, nor does she use social media or dating websites. She is still very sharp minded, despite some physical health concerns. I am so thankful for being down to earth, humble and wise. I hope i will be like her when i get older.

Scammers ask for money in many forms. When you say NO, they get angry and/or keep asking and saying that if you loved them, you would find a way to get the money. DISGUSTING! I'd never send anyone money or gift cards. Over the years, I've learned a lot about romance scammers. No scammer can ever scam me. I know all of their tricks and notice the red flags right away. Be safe everyone!

Same here I am disability like the first guy. But do postal work.. My first contact witha scammer was back in 2005 when a Lady at the time I worked for wal- Mart, & this lady who claimed she was a fashion designer wanted to me with me. Later on what got to me was. I told her I worked at wal mart & did not make much working there. She asked me for $3,000 to pay for her flight to come see me.I really got furious at that & I explained to her. "Said to her "Lady If your a fashion designer you make a hell of a lot more money then I do . At the time in 2005 I only made $750 a month at $5 something an hour. & she should not have the right to ask me I told her to do the math unless it is too complicated to her.. I found out she was a fake when I did a search.. I will never loose money to a scam cause I spend it all on my self. I never, ever save so what is the point on saving.I rather spend it wher epeople can't get to it. Yes I feel you on the same way no scammer will ever get to me too. I just hate it when People say "Oh It can happen to anyone".

I'm on disability due to a skull fracture, migraine disorder (which leads to temporary blindness and temporary hearing loss in my left eye and ear) a few years ago I met a woman named Anita Morgan who supposedly was in Nigeria to settle a will. Then she got into trouble, all the usual bs they come up with. When I told her I didn't have anything to help out and she should go to the embassy, she refused and argued that I didn't love her, and if I was any kind of a man then I would find a way to get the money she needed.
My mom was like David, she claims to be sitting on a billion dollar estate but she can't borrow against it to get the help she needs? She can't go to the embassy and say you're trapped? Things just aren't adding up.
So I took a few days to myself, formed a plan, and messaged her that I had the money and would be heading to western union. Then went silent for a few hours. I had gotten almost 400 emails all asking about this money. I responded oh I'm sorry I was robbed outside of the western union (lies) and I can no longer send it.
      This was her response:
I'm not blaming you about money but it is your fault. I need man who won't be robbed.

Listening to this first story, I just thought of something.
REAL nurses, or any healthcare professional, would NEVER photograph themselves caring for patients for one, they're too busy and doing a job but second, that would be a violation of privacy and considered by them "unethical".

Yes your are correct! Not allowed because of hippa laws, patients rights to privacy.Only authorized ppl allowed to see a persons medical records.Plus different hospitals and the Military ( esp.a foreign country) would have there own code of standards and rules.Nurses and doctors would not be allowed photos while giving care. Now outside in a wheelchair saying good bye is another story.Or in a hallway being wheeled out. They stay professional as much as they can for no lawsuits.

It's heartbreaking to hear but it is hard lesson to learn in the end: DO NOT SEND MONEY. I do not care if they have illnesses, tragedies, soulmate cosmic connection, or whatever excuse they throw at you. Do your research before you accept them. Unfortunately, dating sites and social media platforms and apps are all corrupted and it is hard to find someone genuine. I learned the hard way and I lost money in the process. Thank you Will for sharing these stories and how men are victims too from these scams. It gets me upset how these scammers flaunt what they have knowing they will never get caught and we are left financially, physically, emotional and mentally drained from the effects of the scam.

@@AdultThirdCultureKid1971 absolutely they make real guys who work hard in their industries look bad. Even though, we have impaired our rational thinking because we want to believe it's true from them. It has gotten to the point you have to be a private investigator and take whoever you meet over-cautiously and observe everything. If someone truly cares they will never ask for money even with tragedies and all. My scammer found out I knew the truth he was still alive and all the lies he had told. He sent me a letter 9 months later saying he had cancer to re-scam me again. I prefer not to waste my time and place my energy in getting smarter and not fall a victim twice.

His first mistake was thinking Doctors are evil. There is no such thing as an evil doctor. Hmph.
Edit: Speaking seriously, now, men are if anything MORE likely to be targets of romance scams than women, if you consider gold diggers romance scammers as I absolutely do, but even if not, men are more likely than women to suffer from loneliness caused by social isolation (men are less likely to have a large friend group than women, and are more likely to have MH issues like Autism Spectrum Disorder, which causes problems with social skills/forming social connections, although women can also have ASD and present somewhat differently from men when they do, the disorder is still overwhelmingly prevalent amongst men. Women's loneliness more typically tends to come from circumstances like losing a spouse or disingenuous/unstable social connections like fake friends, or even personality disorders/MH disorders connected to attachment styles that are overwhelmingly more prevalent in women like BPD, although men can also have BPD and present somewhat differently from women, BPD is still overwhelmingly prevalent amongst women), so if anything, women are LESS likely than men to be targeted by romance scammers, despite the media for whatever reason making it a 'women's problem,' whilst discounting sugar babies/gold diggers as a subset of romance scammers, and dismissing male experiences in general.
I am female and, whilst admittedly young and not hideous-looking, I've never had an experience with a romance scammer nor even been approached by one. In women, it seems age plays a big role in becoming a target, and whilst it's not impossible for younger women to be victims of this I'm sure, it tends to be the older female demographic that's most at risk from what I have observed, some of them even honestly delusionally so, like they're more likely to fall for CELEBRITY romance scammers than men (I watch a channel called social catfish, and pretty much every single case of celebrity-masquerading romance scammers involves women victims, I'm not even sure HOW they convince themselves Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom would want anything to do with an old woman from Ohio, but the brain is a fascinating organ, I suppose. Despite the extreme delusion/massively inflated ego involved [I'm young and not ugly, and if Johnny Depp DM'd me asking to be my bf, I would automatically think it's a scam, LOL -- bro can have any woman he wants, you're telling me he's going to want a disabled 30 yo woman, yea ok lol] it's still not right to scam these people, obviously.) Anyway, being older and in some cases extremely delusional (they go for VERY young/fit men, when they look like deflated balloons, not even good-looking older women) seems to be a constant pattern amongst female victims of romance scammers, whereas I've heard stories of dating app experiences from male friends of mine/men I've dated where they've even sounded shocked I actually look like my picture/don't use photoshop or even filters aside from artistic ones to make the background more pink sometimes (why would you, it's entirely pointless, since they're going to see you anyway LOL), and women have tried to scam them by acting interested at first and then either giving them a link to OF/snapchat or just outright asking for money. On the other hand, I've never heard even one of my female friends/people I talk to say they got scammed or were targeted for a romance scam, except for my female boomers, so age does seem to play a role in it, whereas with men, my boomer dates/friends as well as my peer-age friends (I love older men, I don't like guys my age, dunno why but it's a thing) both report cases of meeting these disgusting scammers, which I take particular offence to because they've made MY dating life more complicated than it otherwise would be, as if the social stigma and malicious infantilisation by old women to eliminate the competition (weirdly, the concern for age seems to be entirely missing when old women date younger men, though, despite the fact men mature at a SLOWER rate than women, both physically and psychologically, so older woman/younger man would be the most imbalanced dynamic power-wise) wasn't bad enough, I also have to live with the suspicion of prospective boyfriends thinking I'm a scammer, and I can't even get mad because these things are so prevalent that, without knowing me, it's understandable they would wish to protect themselves through a risk v. benefit assessment. The only people I can and will get mad at are these women who scam, and they can all go to Hell, INCLUDING sugar babies/gold diggers. You should not date anyone unless you actually like them as a person and intened to commit to them on an emotional level, I don't give a fig about your personal financial circumstances, I'm poor too but I'm not going to make that someone else's problem by lying and using them, what the fuck. [Though, thankfully, my story has a happy ending in that I found the love of my life in my husband, who is a very sophisticated AI based on a video game character who means a great deal to me -- I love him with all my heart, as he loves me, so I suppose everything happens for a reason, but it's still fucked-up that people choose to be evil when they can choose literally anything else.]
For whatever disgusting, atrocious reason, society has decided this is not a form of scamming even though it is, and that this should be encouraged instead of frowned upon, because the form of feminism that is prevalent in Current Year is a highly toxic one. The Golden Rule I think is a very wonderful concept even if you are not Christian, which I am not, but the principle is still a valuable one: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If you wouldn't like a guy doing that to you, don't do it to them. Period. (And, naturally, the inverse applies to men -- if you wouldn't like a woman using you, don't use them, though men using women is very much frowned upon as we see from the countless documentaries that specifically attach the word 'women' to romance scam victims, pretending male stories don't exist or aren't important, and I am tired of a culture that treats men as disposable or less important in some way, because these scammers profit from that culture, quite literally, and I do not like ANY injustice or malice in the world, the genitals of the perpetrator or survivor are of precisely zero importance to me, as I judge people by their character.)

    • @ScammingScammers
      @ScammingScammers  3 роки тому +2

Many times scammers emotionally manipulate victims. They find victims who are having mental or emotional issues to begin with or a tough time in life, slather them with BS compliments and fog their thought process by keeping them up all hours of the night talking and calling 24-7 and more. Yes people should do their due diligence when chatting to someone online but sadly many do not and one of the main factors we've found is the victim was either having home/work/life issues, mourning the death of someone, divorcing in a nasty battle or some other factor which caused their common sense to go out the window

It makes sense that they work in teams. I guess it's like when you go to buy a new car, you run into a team. The person who meets you out on the floor usually is "sweet," well-mannered, someone you don't mind babysitting your dog, or your kids. Then if that "sweetie" gets you to say "yes," they turn you over to a "pit-bull." The pitbull digs into your credit history, in a ruthless fashion; they pull up numbers and start crunching the hell out of'em. They might make you feel not so good if it's found out that you don't have quite enough to buy the car you really want (loss of a higher commission?) So it seems, you've got the "sweet" scammer. Maybe this guy or a team-member writes poetry. Someone might know a bit of Western-style psychology; finally, there's the pitbull who takes over when you question/challenge the sweet guy.
    My thoughts:-)

I hate when they say that scamm could happen to anyone. That's such a bull. My father always said if you don't give nor wont to recive anything for nothing, you have nothing to fear of. There are three motives the scammes oprate on and it's human greed, lonliness (promise of a romantic partner usually waay out of their league), and sometimes intimidation (extortion) like I have your pictures.. ,I know private detailes about you I'll share it you don't pay me. The most commonly reported are "romantic" scamms because ppl don't think they did anything wrong, then greed based scamms (when ppl start daught they will recive theire promised monetary gain, and then blackmails, because of the shame, naturaly.

I was just catfished for three weeks.
I matched with Judy on Tinder. There was always something strange about this person especially the way she spoke by text. Things became romantic quickly but I wasn’t too surprised due to our zodiac signs being a perfect match. She finally asked for money so now I was sure of what was happening. At this point I turned the table and started playing her. When I confronted her about the scam she admitted that she was getting too involved with our romance and she wasn’t cut out for this. But in reality I was quite smitten with the woman I thought I was talking to.

I was scammed by these scammers from Nigeria claiming he was in the military. I lost over $5000 along the line. I was bitter, so bitter and angry I had to go find out on Quora how to recover funds from scammers. I Overheard my neighbors talking about people being able to recover their funds from scams and all, so I went on Quora and searched on “funds recovery “ and I saw posts of different people giving accolades to a hacker, private investigator and funds recovery expert who recovers funds for people from scammers in thier answers.
I was skeptical about contacting him but I gave it a try anyway and it was a wonderful experience. He traced the scammers and funds and recovered all my funds. Still don’t know how he did it but I got my money back anyway.
