I just can't see why County are persisting with one single striker formation with wide strikers either side, certainly when Wootton is the central striker playing the role, yes hes scored a few goals but for me he isn't isnt strong enough physically or clinical enough with one goal scored for say every 4 or 5 chaces created. Another worry is Tanto Olafoe doesnt look as sharp as he did last season either. I assume Mellon was envisaged as central to the plans for this season, yes he picked up a injury but supposed to be fit but not even on the bench today as a option or given a few mins run out when a sub the last couple of games previously? A big concern to me that the strikers dont look at their best and a system that doesn't seem to be working. When Powell came on and played as a number 10, County looked like at at least had support for Wootton in the same postcode. Florini may have lots of potential, but I've not seen much evidence to convince me that he deserves a regular starting place at the moment, Powell showed a lot more quality, intent, and urgency.
A bit unfair on Tanto with 5 mins to go. When Barry put the across the goal-line, Woots should of been there to tap it in, he must know now what Barry does cutting in from the wing
@@countyfan696 that's the problem mate IMO, Wootton isnt a natural striker and doesnt have the instinct, yes he has scored goals, but hes not clinical of a natural goalscorer, a fox in the box type when chances are rare.
@@Nick_1072 I’m worried about Tanto’s lack of minutes, if it stays like this then his agent will be on the phone for a January move. Why let that happen so we can play a much older Wootton who’s very hit and miss? Sub was made far too late in the game aswell to have any form of impact. 2 weeks off now so hopefully an opportunity to review some of the decision making of late and hopefully come back a better team.
@thefootballrundown I agree, for me it should be Tanto or Mellon starting (if fit) or Tanto, Mellon or Barry in a front two. I don't want It to be a Wootton whinge fest as he is not bad a player but for me he's third in the pecking order of strikers and DC seems to want one central striker and two 'wide strikers' I don't think Wootton has the physical strength as a lone role where the attributes you need are a more old fashioned target man that a smaller partner would play off like Emille Heskey with Michael Owen playing off him for England or a younger Matt Smith type Salford had before he retired, yes Wootton gets fouled but a lot of times he looks like he should be a lot stronger and getting his elbows out more often against opposition centre half's.
How about a 4-4-2 diamond with e.g. Bate as DM and 3MF & 2 strikers rather than 2 DMs & 1 up front?

Yep it doesn't work in every game, we needed much more pace up front yesterday.
