Fun fact - this song was also their first single / video ever! Check it out, it's worth it, but not how you may think. As they had no prior experience, they ended up with a video that's unintentionally mildly funny. They didn't like it and reshot another version for the song some time later.
It's especially interesting to see how they have evolved since their first video 🙂

For me this song is not even among my top 30 Rammstein songs. So I really don't understand why you're attacking me for just saying the fact.

If you watch the original video you will see that despite the book Inspiration ("the perfume") they give it another layer again, this time an animalic one (they often do this, too). Of course, creepy again ;)

The text is poetry for us German speakers! It could also have been a poem by Goethe, Schiller, Heine etc.. Quite great cinema in my eyes. One of my favorite songs by Rammstein (was the first time in 1998 at a concert in Berlin) I was born in 1975, born in East Berlin. Greetings to you two and the dog in the background.

Yes Domenica you are right,
The saying "Du riechst so gut" is in German a very intime saying...you won´t say that to a random person because of the good smell of his aftershave or her perfume...there has to be a close relationship in the first place in order to say "that particular wording" which is basically "pillow talk".... or in other words "It would come across very intrusive and awkward creepy unpleasant" to hear that saying as compliment from a random person.
But according to the song and your feeling of "creepiness" from the music I just want to mention that the video for that song is telling a Werewolf story.
By the way that was their very first released single..so they introduced themselves to world - according to just the lyrics - as totally mental stalkers who are obsessed for a woman.

Sadly the live versions of this song are so much better than the studio version. One of their best chord progression pieces for the chorus.
I would like to see the reaction of official videos Du Hast and Du riechst so gut, as you say sound more aggressive but those song are epic and the images in the videos are amazing.
