I’ve just moved from the US to Portugal. Trying to source anything that ships from outside the EU is outrageously over the top expensive thanks to Portuguese customs, so it’s good to find a source like this!
Whilst these deals sound great, one should look into how Temu operates. From what I understand, they are pretty hard on their workers and don't have a good record for that reason. But no one generally cares about that side of things as all they see is cheap goods, and sadly is exactly what they want you to see. Im no humanitarian by any stretch, but I also don't support companies that exploit their workers. Each to their own though
@@MannsModelMomentsYou make a good point - it is hard to know where to draw the line. I have reduced my reliance on the convenience of Amazon a lot, but I do still use them.
@@Robutube1 I also think it's a little difficult for us to take the moral high ground when most of our companies use Chinese manufacturing or components but charge us much higher prices. My airbrush had been playing up so I thought I'd replace it. I think it originally cost me around 70 Aus dollars. I bought a 35 AUS dollar airbrush set on Temu. It had everything in it for an airbrush. Even 3 replacement needles. Its really good. I have no issues with it. Its a bargain really. If I had to rate my old one I'd give it a 5/10. This one I'd give an 8/10 and it was half the price with an air hose and extra needles etc. Bargain. Mine was probably just a step up from yours but still cheap.
I have been a Temu sceptic but took the plunge to see what's available. I quickly noticed the Kate was sold out, but the Border models 1/35 Spitfire was available. I popped it into my cart with a couple of other things i was hunting for. Extremely impressed with the £14.15 price for the kit. When it arrives i have a dog fight double with the Border FW190 in my stash. Thanks for the recommendation Alex
While it is tempting to go for these overly hyped and cheap prices with their aggressive marketing in many countries, I have seen multiple documentaries where they caution about their business practices and also safety of their products. For one, obviously one reason why they advertise dumping prices is they rip of and pressure their vendors, secondly, toys for children they have anaylized in a lab contained fobidden substances unhealthy to this age group, naturally this wont apply to scale modelers much I guess but their business practices are a no go for me. So perhaps do also some research into TEMU, I would recommend it, though to each their own. @@epos79 I respect your position but I think the same can be said about many similar companies, which is one of the reasons I looked at several named brands supplied here rather than just the cheapest things possible.
Sir, if this is your criteria for not using TEMU then I wonder how you are able to shop at all? Nearly all business are guilty of at least one if not all your highlighted issues excluding children’s toy’s accusations. All supermarkets place suppliers under massive pressure regarding price for example. Many luxury products are made , at least in part, in China where staff welfare is not as we expect in the west. Most garments are made in less than favourable conditions, all these situations (and many more) have been highlighted by the media in recent years. Temu do use almost false advertising. I wanted a Hobby Mio paint shaker, @ $40, then it came up at $10.00, picture & text description. I ordered it but it wasn't the mixer but a clamp to hold one down. Have found this tactic with several items. That said i have got some good deals too. Am sending back but they dont make this easy either.
Temu are ok, I reckon about 65% of their stuff is worth buying, just avoid drill bits, chisels, files, printed rulers, however, the metric micrometer is excellent quality, as is the HO rolling road I bought for testing a locomotive I was repairing.
I have got some good deals. I got the PCAFC nipper, $2, a knock-off PLUTO 180 nipper which is much better than my $15 Army P**nter nipper (both new). But watch out that your order is correct by checking the "cart." They will advertise a product eg a sander, but the link goes to an associated product like say sand paper, not the sander mentioned & pictured.

They remind me of drug dealers who sell cheap crack to corner the market and push out the competition. How can a local model shop compete against these prices. Generally the likes of Temu and Ali Express, as well as others, I wouldn't use them. They are responsible, in part, for giving shoppers an excuse for rampant consumerism and buying rubbish just because it is cheap.
