Dave, sometimes I don't know how to respond to comments, and this is one of those instances. As strange as this may sound, filming and editing this video was difficult, because in the moment, listening to the conversations and watching dad wade (with difficulty) across the river then later reviewing the footage, you realise how the years have swept by; and it pains my heart to think that all we enjoy as children, parents, grandparents, whatever the nature of the relationships we have, will one day end.

There's a direct Arawak/Amerindian link between VENEZUELA and CAURA in Trinidad! Both Countries have a CAURA River and a CARONI River. In the original Arawak Language, any word ending in -ONI or -UNI (CAR-ONI) means WATER, and the names of these two Rivers were transported by Arawaks travelling by CANOE from Mainland Venezuela to Trinidad, and one of those Venezuelan Amerindian Arawak River names landed up "Inside Caura".

I was supposed to learn to box and wrestle from Mr. Apollon as a youth in Belmont but my mom said I had too much of a temper. The gym eventually turned into a bar named ‘We Place’ I lived in Farrell lane not too far from there. I could listen to old heads talk about the past whole day. I did the same. Growing up on Caura Rd. Fished by the Gauge and even Payreen,the deepest pool in the river.(With Mr. Mahase). My grandfather worked when the new road was being built.

Papa Lance relived his childhood days with his childhood friend,it must have been nostalgic to converse to about life as he and his friend knew it growing up .Serene,pristine clean clear water but please forgive me for saying this how long would it last .We Trinidadians still have not and will not learn to appreciate mother nature and that she has given to us ,but there are still hope with people care enough to save the beautiful rivers ,the environment the ego system,as the gentleman mentioned to Mr Lance that young men growing up when the Vista the rivers they would clear of the fallen bamboos etc ,what people do now when they vist the rivers to cook their curry duck ,roties,Bar-B-Q and soon on ,they throw their food meat bones in short all their garbage in and on rivers banks ,no respect for anything just total disrespect for the environment,when driving on the roads to and from Caura you see their mentality of just beings insensitive and down right litter I would not say bugs I will say litter human beings. I know I may be mashing some feet but that is how I veiw it .People like Mr Harry the late Mr Bat and your dad friend they care for nature,can we say the same for many of them who goes to these rivers?I don't think so .

Doing some vloggs on Santa Rosa Race track.. meaning.. if you can spend time with the Jockeys , owners and the grooms.. interview them and find out about their struggles.. on the racing industry.. how it has diminished.. an most importantly see if you can see some of the horses.. or you can spend.. I was supposed to learn to box and wrestle from Mr. Apollon as a youth in Belmont but my mom said I had too much of a temper. The gym eventually turned into a bar named ‘We Place’ I lived in Farrell lane not too far from there. I could listen to old heads talk about the past whole day. So much history that could inspire us is hidden in the hearts and minds of the elders. Thanks for sharing. It was too short though🤣

Yes, those were the days. Growing up, I'm happy I got a taste of them.
I did the same. Growing up on Caura Rd. Fished by the Gauge and even Payreen,the deepest pool in the river.(With Mr. Mahase). My grandfather worked when the new road was being built.

Papa Lance relived his childhood days with his childhood friend,it must have been nostalgic to converse to about life as he and his friend knew it growing up .Serene,pristine clean clear water but please forgive me for saying this how long would it last .We Trinidadians still have not and will not learn to appreciate mother nature and that she has given to us ,but there are still hope with people care enough to save the beautiful rivers ,the environment the ego system,as the gentleman mentioned to Mr Lance that young men growing up when the Vista the rivers they would clear of the fallen bamboos etc ,what people do now when they vist the rivers to cook their curry duck ,roties,Bar-B-Q and soon on ,they throw their food meat bones in short all their garbage in and on rivers banks ,no respect for anything just total disrespect for the environment,when driving on the roads to and from Caura you see their mentality of just beings insensitive and down right litter I would not say bugs I will say litter human beings. I know I may be mashing some feet but that is how I veiw it .People like Mr Harry the late Mr Bat and your dad friend they care for nature,can we say the same for many of them who goes to these rivers?I don't think so .
