I took the same Kazakh Rail train last week (05/07) from Tashkent to Almaty. I bought the ticket online a month ago which cost U.S. $41 for a 2nd class 4-persons cabin sleeping bed. The train was very comfortable and clean. My train left Tashkent at 4:30am in the morning, arrived Almaty at 10pm. Scenery along the 16+ hours ride was spectacular!
@@EsheeLegaspino Kazakh Rail web site only shows Tashkent-Almaty train's next 30 days schedule. In your case, you'll have to wait until sometime in November to book your train ticket depending on the date in December you'll be traveling. My experience in spring was I had to wait until early April to book my May ticket.

From Tashkent you should take taxi cross border in Zhibek Zholy (Chernyevka), take a taxi to Turkistan, I paid 6000 tenge it took 3 hours. When you cross border there are will be a lot taxi drivers who will occupied your, price should be 5 000-7000 tenge. Our journey was this July. About phone number for website to buy tickets just put amy numbers it doesn't matter.They need you number to send messages when train is late, which happens very rare.
Bro i guess it is not possible. KZ railways sell the ticket. I went to tashkent station to buy, but there was too much queue amd i couldnt ask it. Then, i bought it online
