Have always loved Transaatlantic Sessions, and this one has "Always Stood Me Still" in my tracks, and I think "it always will". May the voice of all those artists Nanci Griffith has worked with over her near 55 years sing 'her home'. May we continue to appreciate music, compositions, musicians, singers and songwriters while they are here, and well into their 'crossing over' if such truly exists.
I have been listening to Nancy Griffith fro about 13 years...and I am only 36! She is absolutely beautiful! Seen her many times and can always put her music in and get happy! Anyone just starting out..."flyer" would be my choice of cd. :)
I too discovered her in the 1990's had the privilege to meet her at the Bluebird Cafe before a show. It was an amazing experience. A poet's heart and soul speaking to the poet in me... I treasure that meeting and her collection of work.
I too discovered her in college in the 80's....she's been there for me during good times and bads...I would die to see her....and one day I will....She wrote Econoline just for me...I drive one ...live in Salt LAke city, and have and emotional troublesome husband...me and the kids sing that song hummin down the freeway in our ford econoline.
There is so much love and passion for Nanci in that you had wrote, your sentence what I feel the same ... your sentence "I would die to see her" needs no comment and it struck me .. then you succeeded to see Nanci?
It’s remarkable that Nanci was so frequently accompanied by expert sound engineers. There are dozens of excellent recordings of her live music. May they always remain accessible to us here. Words cannot capture what it means to have them. Besides flawless performances and high-quality stereo, there’s that face. That heavenly face. I’m doomed.
Always will by Nanci Griffith I saw you on the avenue You looked so tired and a little blue You were in your Sunday best Your father's tie upon your chest Hey, you always stood me still Hey, you always will In the corridor of one hotel We once crossed paths I recall it well Voices in an empty hall Slamming doors to hearts that fall Hey, you always stood me still Hey, you always will Always will Always will Hey Always will Always will Hey Love has been my passer by I stood too still to catch your eye But there out on the avenue In your father's tie I'll remember you Hey, you always stood me still Hey, you always will Hey, you always stood me still Hey, you always will Hey, you always will
There once was a show called American Music Shop, it ran on TNN when it had lot's of great music. The Texas Connection was a great show also...You can find some of the remnants here on You tube.
discovered her by accident on you tube about 3 weeks ago and have been knocked out by her,not only a beutiful woman but a class act with with a voice to match.
Always loved this one. And guess what, I always will! From my favourite album of all time too. Takes me back over 20 years and brings to mind a woman called Deborah.......
Good news for all fans is the release of the DVD "Transatlantic Sessions: Series 3" bringing together the best of Nashville, Ireland and Scotland to perform what has been called "the greatest backporch shows ever". All of the six half-hour programmes from the BBC/RTÉ TV series are included, recorded in a beautiful old converted farm steading in the Perthshire Highlands.
Proud to have met and followed her career in the 80s and 90s-Have all her albums on vinyl and all CDs M iss her playing at Anderson Fair here in Houson and the small joints in Austin
Feels like the world has lost something very, very precious.

She’s gone now. I’ve been mad about her for years. Always will. Love you, dear Nanci.
She's amazing. I'd also recommend "Other Voices/Other Rooms" CD (the first one from 1992). Wonderful collection of songs.
Yesterday this brought a tear to my eye. Today it made me smile seeing Nancy doing what she loved and doing it with style and grace.
Miss you Nanci. Your music lives in me always.

Always will by Nanci Griffith
I saw you on the avenue
You looked so tired and a little blue
You were in your Sunday best
Your father's tie upon your chest
Hey, you always stood me still
Hey, you always will
In the corridor of one hotel
We once crossed paths I recall it well
Voices in an empty hall
Slamming doors to hearts that fall
Hey, you always stood me still
Hey, you always will
Always will Always will
Hey
Always will Always will
Hey
Love has been my passer by
I stood too still to catch your eye
But there out on the avenue
In your father's tie I'll remember you
Hey, you always stood me still
Hey, you always will
Hey, you always stood me still
Hey, you always will
Hey, you always will

Hey, you always stood me still.
Sad state of affairs that a genius of a Nancy Griffith doesn't get the attention (views, comments...) as, say, a Britney Spears or Lil' whoever!!!
Always loved this one. And guess what, I always will!

One of my all-time favorite songs. Just beautiful.
