There is nothing more depressing for someone who believes in democracy, than to hear those journalists , believers in free speech, and supposedly in a position to uphold it, resigned enmasse because their newspaper owner decided that people should be allowed make their own choice in this election. And not be indoctrinated into one candidate. My great grandfather fought in WW2. He was a French final year medical student, studying in London at the time, and was one of 100 medical students sent to help the starving and dying . I never knew him, but my grandfater told me he never got over how human being were capable of such cruelty, and he said the Nazis indoctrinated, not just their soldiers, but a nation, and he said that was the most frightening thing of all. If you can indoctrinate a nation that only one opinion is just, you can do anything to those that aren't "just".
If your grandfather could see London or Paris in 2024, would he still have fought for the Allies? Was both Britain and France losing their colonial empires worth it?
@@aesop1451I'm only asking because I wanted to leave a positive, appreciative comment for the OP, and I saw your post. What are you talking about? "losing colonial empires"? How did the Allied Forces of World War 2 affect *your* life?
@@mynameisntleo Americans were overwhelmingly in favor of staying out of the world wars. The slogan “America First” comes from this era. Ever since WWII, every war has been justified as a war “for democracy.” People like Saddam, Gaddafi, the Taliban, and Assad get compared to the Austrian painter and his party. I am personally not in favor of colonial empires, but they would be preferable to what we have now of major European cities being overrun by foreigners.
If it makes any difference, or anyone is interested , my great grandfather was one of the final year medical students drafted in from British medical schools that helped the inmates of Bergen Belsen in April 1945. He told my grandfather it changed him forever. A light went out in his young soul after seeing what he saw. Let's not let the light go out in America, by either side insisting we have to silence the other.

That’s exactly why I have a subscription to TFP. Thank you for providing refreshing and, frankly, cutting-edge media that is reminiscent of what I used to read growing up.
I ended today's session of my political philosophy course, just now, by reading aloud the final paragraphs of Lincoln's First Inaugural Address, which concludes: "We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely as they will be, by the better angels of our nature."
I'm canceling! No. Seriously, this was fantastic, and needed. Keep up the good work. What many of your former colleagues either don't realize or don't care about is that their arrogance is despised. It used to be that I would wait for my newspaper's endorsements so that I could get a list of people to vote AGAINST. Now, I totally ignore and refuse to read my hometown newspaper, it is so bad. The Washington Post and Los Angeles Times writers need to take a good hard honest look at their reputation among voters. When they understand that their reputation in the community is lower than politicians, they will have some humility and desire to improve themselves and their profession.
As a politically homeless man in this current era, this editorial allowed me to take a big breath and relax. Thank you Bari for everything you do. Glad you live in LA with us part of a community of the honest and reasonable. May we return to the ethic of my childhood / youth 1980’s and 1990’s where “Alex P Keating and his formerly activist parents” reflected the heated yet cordial tone of the nation. Yes, we argued, but we still sat at the table together. We are bound by much more than political opinion. Our Fox watching parents aren’t monsters spawned by the patriarchy or white supremacy (at least most aren’t). My wife and I absolutely adore you.
Who is many? The people are tired of being lied to, tired of only reporting negatively one way and positively for government power. Free press was meant to push against the government narrative, instead it’s become propaganda. All credibility is gone.
Which is why "enemies within" is apt for a select minority with an extremist agenda against America. Using the phrase against those in mere disagreement isn't good.

If we apply Chesterton’s fence to abortion, then there’s no reason to be against it. At the very least it should be available for babies born with disabilities so they won’t pass it on. Anti-abortionism is a religious conviction.
Same. I'm an independent. This year, I'll be voting for kamala. Sam Harris articulates exactly what I feel
THIS is why I am a subscriber to The Free Press.
Love this. You go Bari!
The Free Press gives me hope for this nation. Thank you Bari and team for showing us what is possible. Keep up the great work!
Spot on Bari. You are my go to.
Bari…. Love you like a sister.
Thanks for being an excellent human.
Well said, Bari!
Bari is the greatest!! Excellent opinion piece!
Was both Britain and France losing their colonial empires worth it?
thank you for sharing your story. I think experience guides people, and I believe your great-grandfather had experiences that he passed on as wisdom.
I have a pretty strong conviction about who to vote for. But whatever happens tomorrow, this is going to be my prime source for information about issues. If things go as they should, The Free Press will be one of the media forces helping to transform politics. Thankfully.
Thank you for existing, Bari.
Thank you, Bari! How refreshing!
Amen Bari Godspeed to you and the whole FP crew!
This is precisely why I subscribed to TFP. Great work. Keep it up! Thanks!
Bless you Bari. I hope the Free Press keeps growing and attracts those in the middle who are fed up with the legacy media.
Thanks for being a solid voice of reason Bari
I normally lean left but this election felt so different. I hope Trump wins just for the fact that switching out candidates and having war mongers endorse you shouldn’t be a new way to run political campaigns. This will be the start of a neocon resurgence if Kamala wins(in my opinion)
it's a dumb opinion
@@Saints2024 Not being as well-acquainted with "dumb" as you obviously are, I can't agree with you.
@@Saints2024 please expand
@@willmercury That's another dumb opinion
I agree.. and JFK said.. ask not what your country can do for you, but what YOU can do for your country??? Do any of these people who are the radical LEFTISTS understand what that even means??
You are amazing Bari, and wise indeed
By far the best news outlet!!
What have we done to deserve brilliance of Bari Weiss? She's not a "breath of fresh air." She's a gale force of intelligence, integrity, and bravery.
Thank you bari.
It is beyond me how the NYT allowed you to leave. I never thought in my lifetime I would see real journalistic integrity. It is my honor to read and listen to you and your colleagues. Stay strong. 👍
It’s precisely why she had to leave The NYT.
“From the Free Press” is an epic intro
This is exactly why I love The Free Press content. One of the only places that exist which covers all sides of an issue. Keep up the great work!
As a conservative, awesome job and thank you Bari! Privileged to be living in America! Everyone vote!
I have. been enjoying the free access to The Free Press for at least a year. You deserve to be financially supported, so I will now be a subscriber. You make me slightly hopeful about the future of America. Well done!
That’s exactly why I have a subscription to TFP. Thank you for providing refreshing and, frankly, cutting-edge media that is reminiscent of what I used to read growing up.
Just beautiful. You are a gift. Thank you.
An inspired message. Thank you for your great work and that of your colleagues at the Free Press.
Beautifully spoken Bari! THANKS!
And this says everything about why I love The Free Press!
No one matches the combination of honesty, integrity, and intelligence of Bari Weiss.
Thank you Bari for bravely barging ahead with such clear reasoning
Thank you, this is why I listen to your channel.
how dumb. news orgs should be endorsing the candidate who doesnt want to jail journalists and pull broadcast licenses. its that simple.
One would think. Bari was never much of a thinker, though.
People who hate the Press are often times just Right Wing MAGA Fascists.
Trouble is that many want to end free press and some have already done so. Appreciate this channel and hope it's not suppressed.
Thank you Bari! So well said!
Kudos to Uri Berliner for calling out NPR on its lockstep left approach to "news". Kudos to The Free Press for its bold attempt to get back to why it's called The Fourth Estate (remember that?) And of course, megakudos to the quicksilver AwesomeQueen of Talkin About It, Bariiiii WEISS!!! (cheering)
I appreciate the what I see as honest Jouralism from the Free Press! Truly I believe "Fair and Balanced"!!!!
Well said! Not surprised by the results at all.
You and the FP are an inspiration. I am glad the other news organizations left you such a wide opening to start the FP. I donate each year. Thank you.
