Has anyone tried this on a surface that wasn’t paved or concrete, for example gravel? How does the blade work on a non-smooth surface? Did you use a more aggressive tire than the turf tires? I just bought the ZTX 5 and wouldn’t mind using it for more than summer, if the equipment works well enough to justify the cost of the plow.
In reviews, they don't recommend plowing with the ZT1's, they have the ZT-2200 transmissions (not heavy duty enough and not serviceable). If you want to plow it's recommended to get the ZT2's or higher cuz they have at least the ZT-2800 transmissions or better (ZT-3100, ZT-3400).
Just installed it and we have 6-12 inches coming in 2 days so we will see. Very easy to install (extra set of hands would be nice in the beginning). lever to turn the plow blade is really stiff... im pretty strong but had to get off of the mower to turn the blade. i will adjust it and see if it loosens up a little bit. thanks for the review
How much longer is the mower overall with the snowplow attached? I want to be able to park my ZT150 in my garage with the plow installed and wondering how much parking garage depth the plow adds.
I bought the ZT2 with a 60” deck and the Kawasaki engine. This mower is top notch. I looked at them all in this price range and none have the features this mower has for the money period. This replaces my 13 year old Cub zero turn which was made the 1st year Cub made zero turns. Cubs are reliable and last, that’s been my experience. I’m giving my old one to my daughter, still a good mower. I learned my lesson about switching brands when I made the foolish mistake of buying one of those Raven MPV 7100s a few years back. Looked like a perfect Multi purpose machine. Mowing deck went through controllers like candy. Now that was the worst money ever spent. I’ll stick with Cub as it’s proven reliability for me.
That thing is for flat level ground, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were a pavement princess. It would be battered to hell in the winter here, and I would probably have to fire up the IH Cub to pull her out. Everyone makes a mower, and some of them are offered with attachments that are way out of their class. A blade would twist the shit out of my 26hp Husqvarna's frame. It's a mower, and nothing else. It might have been smarter to offer that machine with a front PTO and a blower.
Exactly. The transaxles will not tolerate that very long. They are not rated for that kind of duty. Those are ezt 2200 non rebuildable, sealed, non filtered hydro units. They can only handle a couple hundred lbs of hauling capacity. Snow gets very heavy and this will do the drive system in very quickly.
There’s no way of knowing how long it’ll last. I’ve put light duty items through hard use and they keep going and I’ve done the same with commercial grade and they failed with little use. I get that you shouldn’t exceed products specs but my experience above is with all different items not just mowers
@@danhuebner3890 the ztr2200 transaxles are rated to 900 lbs. The 50" zrt1 weighs 585 lbs. Yours is a 54" right, so that more weight. Subtract that 585 lbs and you get 315 lbs remaining . Subtract your weight with the cold weather clothes from that 315 lbs give or take, and you'll see why putting a plow on any zero turn, especially one with non serviceable transaxles is a bad idea. Now, get a zero turn with the zt-5400 transaxles and those can handle 2200 lbs. Those transaxles are the highest rated commercial T/A's out there. Snow weighs a lot. Especially if it's wet snow. Finding a chunk of something frozen surely won't do anything good to T/A's with only a hundred lbs or so of reserve rating after the weight of the machine and driver are accounted for.
@@packetattack7437 you're missing the 900 lbs total minus the weight of the mower, and any remaining is the weight of the driver and any other weight. That 900 lbs is the total of both hydros.
Need to review the Toro grandstand multi-force.
You can do way more with a multi force, its very versatile
Looks like a great option for light snowfalls

Exactly why i went with a zt2 with 23 hp kawasaki
Would like to see how well it works on a large dirt driveway. I would be willing to test one.

Using the lever to lift it up, can you lock it in place part of the way up? Thanks.
Do they have a snow blower attachment as well? Or just the plow?
You can do more with a Multiforce grandstand
Yea its heavier
Can you attach this to a 42 inch?
Looks like it could be adapted to any zero turn, plus chains will be needed.

Needs stiffer springs
Right!
Wouldn’t ever consider that thing up here in northern MN

It is nice to be able to do more than just cut grass with the Zero turn. #TIACREW
Need chains?
Chains help
cool
kinda dinky, it needs to be able to easily turn!
Cub cadets are junk though, the blade is not wide enough, but the idea is great
Mower will be trash in no time

@@tomjahn6896 Good point, but wouldn't that be 1800 lbs? Two hydros right (900 per side x 2)? What am I missing?
