My husband can't find food that is placed at the front of the fridge at eye level, but when I bring home snacks he finds them no matter where I put them. Last week he "helped" me by eating my "lost" chocolate stashed behind the veggies in the crisper drawer. 😂

I loved this when it was a short. So it made my day to have the extended version pop up today. It did not disappoint.
Trid's mind is always so quick with a logical comedic response. So when you do something so ridiculous that he struggles to put his feelings into words - like when you put your fingers in the juice... and all he could come out with was, "Why are you doing that?" I could watch this on repeat all day long and it would never get old or lose it's hilarity. ❤
At the point when he we get to, "You're... looking at me?!" He's about to short circuit.

Ach, this couple! When I was a lad, my dad would take me fishing and let me select the worms for our hooks. I loved running my fingers through that smelly dirt, gently catching the worms, holding one up, and saying "How 'bout this one, dad?" My early version of ASMR. That's what you guys are to me. Lovely, rascally, cute and earthy. Your laughter is a balm for my soul. Thank you.

I had so many Indian friends in high school and I never spent time with their dads. Dads were all working as anesthesiologists and cardio thoracic surgeons. Dads never home, moms always always cleaning cleaning and cooking. I did NOT see a lot of humor bandied about. The parents were all immigrants and they really weren’t crazy about their daughters being around white people (girls). The moms would eventually warm up, especially once they realized we took our shoes off, helped do dishes, didn’t have interest in boys or dating, all focused on studies etc, but if you didn’t fit that you were OUT.
They were generous, and they were very good parents as far as discipline and very good educations and extra curricular stuff. Now I’m a parent I recognize how wonderful the Indian parents were, but I never ever saw the humor in the parents, my friends yes, my friends were funny as all get out.
I was born in 1978, my friends were from 1976-1982. That age range first Gen Americans.
I often wonder what India was like for their parents for them to be so driven, so terrified of falling down a socioeconomic ladder.
I wish they’d enjoyed themselves a bit more, but I also know that what they went through…leaving family in India, working uphill from very little to make it here, being faced with a multitude of barriers I can’t fathom is simply too much to just ignore and say “laugh more!”
I should go see some of them…they’re retired, their kids are all over. I’m still in our hometown because of my own parents and feeling obligated.
This makes me miss them, makes me wish their kids were around to make them laugh, show them what they did to give them their freedom wasn’t easy.

I keep thinking of that movie with Kal Penn. The namesake. Gogol, he’s named after his fathers favorite writer and that movie just crushed my heart…his dad, oh god, just thinking of it makes me cry now.

My friends who came, they had to live with the idea they would be having arranged marriages, but only one of them ended up having one.
