I got to meet Davey Allison February of 1992 a week before he won the Daytona 500. I have to pictures of him signing a poster for Ford Thunderbird and I'm in one of them inches away from him. Such a nice guy I shook his hand. And he singed for Free. He died in July of 1993 in a helicopter crash.
I was Pete's toilet paper guy on the Reds in the 80's. He's the Player-Manager then. Pete hadda have triple ply. He eat real good. Never saw Pete take a swig of any kind of drank, tho. He was a stand up guy.
I knew that Pete was in big trouble in 1989 when the ESPN report mentioned"Val,from Staten Island." I met Pete at a NJ car dealer in 2013,where he was signing for free upon completion of the dealers potential customer sheet. I mentioned a game in 1963 when he hit the first pitch out in an eventual 1-0 game.He told me details about it,a half century later than when the game was played.
I enjoyed the end of this it’s hard to see what age has done and will do to all of us. He struggles to walk now. That guy was my hero growing up in Dayton,Ohio being close to Cincy we went to many games back then He was a thrill to watch like no other He played the game the way it was meant to be played it makes me sick how this story ends I always wanted to go to Cooperstown but I won’t now without his plaque being there

I've had the opportunity on a couple occasion's to meet Pete Rose. The 1st time my family met him he was signing in the forum shops at Caesars Palace and the 2nd signing was at the mall at Mandalay Bay. Both times he sat and talked to my son for several minutes before signing the baseball's. Whether or not his signature has any value, having the opportunities sit down with a legend that should be in the Hall of fame was quite an experience and worth the money.
I was just in Vegas for 4 nights and Pete was there signing one of the days I was there. I went to the store the day he was signing but he had already left for the day because he had to leave early for an appointment. This was by far the most disappointing moment of my summer vacation!! I was really looking forward to meeting him.
Yeah, he dipped out a little early when I was there as well. I was on my phone the night before trying to find out where he was...finally found his schedule on Facebook.
@@ChrisCards I'm hoping I get another chance to meet him. I probably won't be in Vegas again until next year and I'm hoping he's still signing there then.

Jordan must have had to bet on the NBA games he was playing in. I wouldn't be surprised if a Michael Jordan scandal is lurking in the future.
I think there are more than a few people out there that believe the Jordan retirement to play baseball was forced upon him rather than done on his own because a scandal was brewing.
I've done this twice. I noticed a lot of negative comments on price. I collect n sometimes sell collectables. For Resale, no it's not a bargain. Simple. Overall, very affordable. Many shows, you bring your own item, and still pay. Also most charge for pictures. You also get 1-5 minutes chat , depending on your conversation. My COA was actually signed by Pete. I did the same Package as the other guy, added CoA for jersey n bat. All in All , they work hard, provide quality items, solid interactions, and a Pete's sig is great. Not like the rushed initials that most players give today. Imo I felt the video was a little disrespectful to staff and honestly didnt highlight what you got.
Nah it's not a bargain at all to buy his autograph and resell it. He signs all the time and saturates the market but I'm surprised a signed ball with an inscription of his would still sell for like $50 or so on eBay. But I'm going to Vegas next month for a few days and I'll go meet Pete if he's signing.
I had a Signed Mantle Ball without a COA, took it to Cooperstown to a shop. Two guys looked at it for less than a minute, both nodded, the one guy was The Mick's right hand guy for years. He knew within 3 seconds it was real. I sold it for a good price. I was shocked not having the COA, he said, you don't need it ;)
I would love for Pete Rose sign my 64 Topps card. He messed up. Yeah it was big, but they should let him in the hall. They will probably wait until his passing, but it would be cool if he somehow gets in within the next 10-15 years.
I really enjoyed this video. I know Pete screwed up but he will always be a legend. You are so true about making players like Pete today. They are very few left. Thx again!!!
That ball will sell for more than $10 lol. Since it has an inscription, it probably would sell for $60 or so on eBay. But yeah, his signature isn't worth much since he signs A LOT and just saturates the market. I'm glad you had fun meeting Pete!
cool video, nice to see Pete in a candid setting. though the business of it all is a little sad. but hey I get it, he probably makes more in one month signing than he did playing his entire career.
Most famous athletes do paid shows. He probably only makes like $4000-5000 a day in Vegas because I read he typically signs 80 autographs a day so the crowds aren't there. He's driven down his autograph value so much.
Deliver to my doorstep?? Gee, I was hoping they'd deliver it to my backyard or perhaps to some random drop-off center. Really enjoyed the video and the ending was quite fitting. Thanks for sharing.
He signs all the time in Vegas. You can barely sell a Pete Rose signed ball for the cost of a tank of gas. Goes to show his autograph is worthless but it would be an honor to meet the man and get a selfie with him.
It is not about the money, It is about the Player and what he stood for the game of Baseball, I could care less abut the betting on Baseball. Look at our politicians and how they act and people still vote them in after the dumb shit they get caught doing.
Why is it sad? a lot of players need the money from doing shows after retiring. At least by Pete signing all the time and for money, that prevents people from profiting from his signature when he does sign free autographs. Wouldn't you do autograph shows you someone offered you at least a $1000 an hour?
Hey. Very nice sir. Singing was pitch perfect as well! You were sitting beside a Hall of Famer regardless of what it is. Sad, but the man is making bank. Probably more than if he was in! Who knows. Again. Very nice video.
There has to be a cheaper option mabey if someone were to bring a 8X10 or bring a baseball it should be cheaper. I understand the supply and demand part but that is flat out criminal to charge that much. So many people idolize that man and would dream of having a small 1on1 chat with Pete but the 125$ is just something they cannot afford.
It's all tourists that go there so most have the money to spend on this. $75 is the cheapest autograph which is a 8x10. Most autograph shows charge high prices.
And you must not go to autograph shows. Pete Rose's signings in Vegas are a bargain compared to other players. At the baseball hall of fame show this month and the minimum amount these players are charging, Randy Johnson is charging $200, Pudge Rodriguez is $100, John Smoltz is $100 and Reggie Jackson is $90 and that's just for their autograph. At Pete's shows in Vegas, they provide the photo, the autograph and one inscription, it also includes photos with him and a conversation with him for a few minutes all for $75.
I saw Pete walking through a Sears in a Dayton Ohio mall in the mid 90’s, and no one was paying attention to him. I know that they were oblivious to whom he was. He walked pasted me and all I said was “ Hi Pete.” And I could tell that he was surprised and happy that I did not make a big scene. He said “ Hi, how ya doing?” And we both kept walking our separate ways. It was surreal, especially since I live near Cincy and watched The Big Red Machine in the 70’s. It was just a piece of paper, I could whip one up in Photoshop in 5 minutes. If they charged 8-10 bucks they would probably sell those things all day long. That's a case where they'd make more money if they charged less...
Cant believe people pay that much for his auto. I guess the experience of meeting him but still his auto cards bats anything are cheap because there are so many put there
Rose is signing at a huge show next month and he's charging $80 for just his signature on balls and flats. One reason they charge so much at shows is because since the promoters get a certain percentage of the sales, they have to bump up the prices. I heard Rose used to sign ttm for much cheaper fees but doesn't sign ttm anymore.

Nothing wrong with betting on baseball except when you do so against your own team as manager.
