Got us talking about topics of gender identity and sexual orientation in a way we hadn't overtly discussed before, and we were people who considered ourselves woke. Widen my range to the point that I can work with both a "manly" lower range and a "feminine" higher range, which has been a struggle with my soprano voice, but the times I've felt most like myself are when I go from a high belting to gravely low notes. It feels powerful. That's one of the few times I have no doubts in my mind about my gender. I just found your music, but it seems like it might be just what I need. Thanks my fellow enby.

2:22 HOW ARE THOSE VOCALS SO PERFECT????? I-
omg that subtle vibrato is EVERYTHING

    • @Sadveneco
      @Sadveneco 3 роки тому +6

      @Anthony Lopez Don't worry, I got you.
Vibrato (Italian, from past participle of "vibrare", to vibrate) is a musical effect consisting of a regular, pulsating change of pitch. It is used to add expression to vocal and instrumental music. Vibrato is typically characterised in terms of two factors: the amount of pitch variation ("extent of vibrato") and the speed with which the pitch is varied ("rate of vibrato").
In singing it can occur spontaneously through variations in the larynx. The vibrato of a string instrument and wind instrument is an imitation of that vocal function.
Dorian used a very sublte vibrato at 2:22 🐐

    LYRICS
    You know I ain't straight
But imma say it straight to you
I look you in the face
Every time I talk to you
    I want to be clear
    And not convolute
    I'll say what I mean
I expect the same from you
So you want to play rough in the parking lot
See you acting tough, but I know you're not
We can take it outside, scuff up in the streetlights
I just really wanna fight with you
Man to man, hand to hand
One on one, friend to friend
Are you man enough to soften up?
Are you tough enough to open up?
    Man to man
    You gotta let me in
You've gotta be the bigger man
You've got to take the higher ground
You gotta pull your fists away
You gotta lay your weapons down
So you want to play rough in the parking lot
See you acting tough, but I know you're not
We can take it outside, scuff up in the streetlights
I just really wanna fight with you
Man to man (man to man), hand to hand (hand to hand)
One on one (one on one), friend to friend (friend to friend)
Are you man enough to soften up? (soften up)
Are you tough enough to open up? (brave enough, open up)
    Man to man
    You gotta let me in
    Don't beat around the bush
    Don't talk behind my back
    Quit acting cowardly
    Don't launch a sneak attack
Just sit right here in the daylight
And we can handle the stress alright
Just take my hand, we can settle this man to man
Man to man (man to man), hand to hand (hand to hand)
One on one (one on one), friend to friend (friend to friend)
Are you man enough to soften up? (soften up)
Are you tough enough to open up? (brave enough, open up)
    Man to man
    You gotta let me in
So you want to play rough in the parking lot (man to man)
See you acting tough, but I know you're not (hand to hand)
We can take it outside, scuff up in the streetlights (one on one)
I just really wanna fight with you (friend to friend)
Are you man enough to soften up? (soften it up)
Are you tough enough to open up? (toughen it up)
    Man to man
    You gotta let me in

I've always been straight. There's never really been much doubt of that in my head. But let's be real, most straight guys are caught up in a storm of toxic masculinity (or better yet, *limiting* masculinity) and this song has a list of great things to say to everyone a mile long. From the very first line, this is gold. The idea that you have to be tough and strong to show emotion and talk about your feelings is something most guys don't understand... or at least they didn't when I had a social life. Maybe things are changing. Maybe this is part of the reason why. Dorian, you rock in a way the world hasn't seen before. You're a hero.
