    Hello Dr.Markos,
Congratulations on making it to your 3rd year at Cambridge!
I’m going to choose my IB subjects in 2 days. I’m currently choosing between Biology SL or Chemistry SL. I’m not sure which one is easier. Also, I’m taking Economics HL since I’m intending to major in politics and economics. How was Econ HL for you? Was it challenging?

      Hello Jack!
Thank you! Oh wow good luck. Bio SL is probably considered to be easier, Chem is not the easiest subject, even at SL level, although this does depend on your skill set and whether you prefer to memorize or understand concepts. Econ HL was one of the best subject in the IB, you get the best extra modules - namely theory of the firm, which is soooo interesting and useful. I’d say the extra stuff in Econ HL actually makes the overall paper easier, so I’m sure you will do great, I know I loved it.
      Good luck!

    Hello Dr. Markos,
I’m an IB student going to choose my subjects and I am aiming for medicine in either the UK or the USA (knowing that it has pre-med). I’m confused on what to choose and that is if I should settle for English A SL or Arabic A SL and the other chosen language would be at B HL level. I’m competent in both languages and speak both fluently, will such a choice affect my admission in the US and hinder my ability to go to med school.

In my opinion, I think that you shall choose English as Language A if you wanna go to an English speaking country.

@@jack4007 I checked requirements in multiple colleges they really didn't look at the choosen language. And if I choose Arabic A and English B, I could opt for a bilingual certificate. But I still don't know since its better to be safe than sorry.

I'd agree with the idea that it is better to be safe than sorry - if you want to work in an english speaking country then it is best to have an English A diploma. This avoids having to do any extra tests such as the TOEFL, as well as helping you gain better command over the language.

@@MarkosDrakos All of my other subjects are in English, and I take Math AA. I would've loved to be in Eng A LAL, however exams such as the TOFELS are going to be mandatory for students like me (an international student) and checked once again with the universities that I wish to attend and their English requirements accept Eng B HL and doing the TOFELS or ILETS. However, I'm still confused over my choices. (BTW, my school doesn't offer Eng A Lit or Lang, and Arabic A is only Lit which is considerably easier than LAL)
