My BCs hated having their nails cut. I let the vets do it; though I had a muzzle, I wasn't very good at it and was afraid I was causing them pain. My Tess's boyfriend, Andy, snipped at me above my eyebrow when I leaned down to pet him. Fortunately, he didn't snip too hard and came back to me and licked my hand. His parent's owner, Dr. Lew, a retired vet, said he was asking forgiveness from me. Turns out he'd lent Andy to some guy and he abused Andy by smacking him with his palm on his head. Dr. Lew said he liked to shake paws with my hands and we did. Andy and Dixie-Tess's aunt-showed me how they herded cattle out of the barn to a pasture and both herded sheep back into the barn on the return trip. Sam, Tess's grandpa, stayed behind with the sheep first and watched the cattle when Andy and Dixie herded the sheep. I asked Dr. Lew how he rewarded him. "That'll do, Sam and Dixie." Simple.
