Hi, I have an unrelated question, but I think this is the right channel, does anyone know where tu buy proper getter ring for making diy vacuum tube? Maybe not too expensive
The getters are not the problem. It is the RF induction heater to flash them. For getters, buy a bunch of old TV tubes off ebay. Cheapest since you will be breaking them apart. Do not break the tube open until you are immediately going to put the getter on your homemade tube to seal off and get under vacuum. Exposed to air, you have about 5 minutes until the getter is destroyed.
@glasslinger thanks, so the barium in the getter is stored in a metallic form even before flashing right? Witch are the tube most probable to have an unflashed getter?
