  • What is tattoo stroke? Simply it is how far your tattoo machine, pushes out the needle. The stroke effects the strength of impact the machine makes when it hits the skin.

    Which is good info. I just now found out that a rotary machine for lining is different from a coil for lining. I’ve been trying to line at 4.2 with my rotary. Hard time. I swapped down to 3.6 and my line went in like butter. I was kind of upset with the noobness - but I learned a valuable lesson and then researched it only to find out I was trying to run my rotary like a coil. We are always learning. Good info.

      So u could’ve used the 4.2 is u lowered the voltage ? Or what it just not good for lines ?

      @@Servant_Of_God_richie_rich08 it was me. I was the issue. I changed my needle hang and that was it. I wasn’t getting enough ink for saturation. So I am now able to run crisp lines at 4.2 with my needle a little inside the cartridge tip/tube. I also have 2 4.0mm stroke machines and it also came down to me. I’ve learned a good bit since this post.

    Better description of stroke is how far the needle travels up and down in a cycle, not how far out the machine puts the needle that is depth adjustment/needle hang not stroke, also you called your wand packer the shader shader is the one with the silver/grey collar not the bronzs/brass color that is bishop wand packer, yes it can be used for shading but it's not the shader haha also I'd say the average stroke machine is 3.5 to 4mm not 3 to 3.5mm , most common by far Is 3.5 strokes

      This video was for the sake of simplicity thats why I said it that way. Also I just realized I called mine the packer on accident. I guess the ones I looked at a lot had a short stroke 🤷🏾‍♂️

    Hello. I am learning smp in Korea. What do you think is the best way to do the stroke in order to take the dot neatly
    Short? Long?

    • @Qinks
      @Qinks  3 місяці тому

      Hello, depending on needle sizing. If they are below 3rl, I would use a lower stroke, such as 3.0 . If above a 5rl and above i would use 4.0

    If u had a 5.0 couldn’t u just have less needle hang to prevent the “chainsaw” effect? Wouldn’t that reduce the amount of penetration? Seems like an easy fix no?

    • @Qinks
      @Qinks  8 місяців тому

      Not necessarily, since the effect comes from the power of the 5.0 throw. Longer strokes allow more striking power, so The machine just hits very hard.

    What stroke is good for lining and shading

    • @Qinks
