Hi Emma. The sponge is for blotting your brush. These are really nice paints. I’ve given the smaller version to grandkids for when they travel. IKEA has a little portable lap desk, combo art case thingy (?), and those pack up nicely! My daughter got me one to use plein air! And they are only $10-12 at IKEA. Thanks for your videos. A Canadian Granny of 9!
I have a Van Gogh set of pearlescents and metallics that come with a brush that looks like it has a similar flat end. In the case of the Van Gogh set the brush is designed to lift the pans out so they can be replaced or rearranged. It may be that Paul Rubens have decided to do similar.
The end of the paint brush is flat so you could use that for scratching your painting just before it dries instead of using white paint. It looks like a lovely paint set.
The colors were lovely, packaging easy and I have never used Meiliang paints before. I will look for them now. I enjoy Paul Rubins products so I’ll look for them. Thanks as always for teaching me so much. Karen Dirmish, learner!
Hi Emma… You are right, the sponge is for blotting. These colors look amazing! I just bought the blue one last month. If I saw this I would have gotten this one! I love all the soft pastels! Thanks for showing us!
I think that these watercolors look really nice 👍. I’m not into lightfastness so these would be for play. Expensive watercolors seem to be treated more precious and with these, I could let go. Thank you 🙏 for a great review and demo.❤
Recently purchased this pallet before seeing the video, and they are wonderful. The paint was not chalky, painted so smoothly The colors are wonderful. Definitely will purchase again. 😊👍
Thank you for this review. I just watched again your review of last year & was about to purchased the old set, I think I’ll get this one instead. I love your honest review. It is so helpful for beginner like me. ❤❤
Your Nana/Grammie sounds so sweet. That’s one thing I wish I knew how to do before my Grammie passed, was to knit socks. She would have gone gaga. So happy you were able to share some time with your Nana (and some socks 😉).
I'm so glad you made this video! I bought the 36 colour set last year when I started watercolour and had no idea if they were any good. I've really enjoyed painting with it, even though I'm still a bit bothered that the tin arrived quite damaged 🙄 I'll probably order this one too. Thanks for the awesome videos!
Please Emma think of me when thinking of donating palettes onwards as I’m an Aussie no wage Due to permanently injured Both Physically and Emotionally Due to work place bullied incident & No fault of my own . 😔 my art is now a form of Emotional Support & physio therapy therapy tied in together , my husband is trying really hard to pay all bills & keep up house mortgage also . So any help in way of donated art supplies are always held in the highest Gratitude 🙏 & hugely appreciated also , in genuine interest in helping me in this way please reach out through these messages . As I have no wage at all I am unable to afford even postage costs 😔 sorry 😣
Hi Emma! This was a GREAT- informative video. Concise and to the point. I’m going to buy the set. I’m really curious, you use several different palettes, how or why do you use or change to a diff pallet? P.S. Yes the sponge is used for blotting- 🤓🎶🌷
Thanks for your review. It was extremely helpful in selecting a palette. Looking forward to your videos. I'm a very early beginner. I need all the help I can get.
Hi Emma, thanks for this review and swatching. I was looking at these recently. Do you think the 36 and 48 palettes would have the updated pigments and quality you found in the 52 palette? My pocketbook would like the smaller palettes 😉💜 Thanks!!
This is the same standard Semi Art pallet (ali express for waaaay less than 35 us dollars ) that Art Philosophy sells for a fortune in 'mood' pallets with Mungyo paints also. Living in Thailand and having ordered them all as here, it is cheap, I think they are all othe same or very similar. You can choose metallic paints included or not. They are all great , specially for beginners and people who cannot afford professional colours. The exact same box and all.
Hi Emma. In one of the monthly boxes you included a pink tape. It’s the best tape I’ve ever used. Is there anyway I can purchase some of your pink tape. Please let me know!! Thanks for much!! Ginger
After trying every single watercolor paint there is on the market, I have settled with QOR, they are the best, not as expensive as the ultra high end but better in quality. This looks like a fun palette to try, but honestly there are no comparison to QOR. I’m going to get this just to see ….the bloom was great, so I’ll try especially at the price point.
Thank you for this review. I just have something from Michael's... Artist's choice or something like that. Looking for something to upgrade to. May be too many colors for me at this point though... I'll have to think about it. But definitely very affordable. :) It looked like you used one of the included pieces of water color paper for the image at the end. How did the paper perform?
I bought one last month and color names on chart didn’t match the pan labels! I had to unwrap them all. Tedium! Plus they had jumbled up inside the tin not even in a hole!
The way this is arranged is a bit of a throw off. Really like my smaller version and will be on the lookout for a deal on this one and definitely rearrange it.
Looks like a lovely palette of colors. Unfortunately I don't think this is truly a non-toxic selection as advertised. At the very least it contains two Cobalt colors. And I have no idea what heavy metals could be in the other pigments. That's one issue of having such a large selection. it's difficult to analyze the ingredients of each color, when there are so many, for toxicity and sustainability.
I wasn’t impressed w these. They dry kinda chalky. I think they are hitting influencers in a major advertising burst. Honestly just buy 6 primaries of a good brand and it’s all u need. I sent mine back. Don’t waste your money.
Recently purchased this pallet before seeing the video, and it was wonderful. My paint was not chalky, It painted smoothly and the colors are beautiful. 😊👍 Everyone’s entitled to their opinions. It’s unfortunate yours wasn’t good for you. They were awesome for me. Glad to hear you received your money back.
You just 'happen' to have a matching Paul Ruben's paper there by mere coincidence? Well, isn't that nice. If you are paid for promoting say so instead of trying to dumb out the people who watch this. Mind you the last time I was here a devoted follower send you a very expensive watercolor pallette and you gifted it to your niece.

I only use sponges when I'm using a waterbrush to wipe it off between colors. These paints are so pretty!
This was great, thank you, and yes the sponge is for blotting.
I have the 36 set, they’re in individual half pans. I love it. It’s my favorite play set.
The end of the paint brush looks useful too for grass amd mark making ❤

I use both Mei Liang sets all the time and love the color selection, quality, and price point! Thank you for sharing your opinion too! 😊

I just started a few weeks ago with the small pallette...now I want this one!! Love the painting!

I love my Mei Liang paints! Thanks Emma 😊
what a gorgeous palette .. the accessories are nice too...
That looks like a nice paint set! I have the other set of Mei LIang and really love them.
Beautiful painting and thank you for sharing💖💖
Thank you for the video. This looks like so much fun in my price range
Great video! I have the old pallette so I was debating on the new one. You sold me on it👍
Thank you for the review. This will be the next pallet I buy. It looks very nice.
Recently purchased this pallet before seeing the video, and they are wonderful. The paint was not chalky, painted so smoothly The colors are wonderful. Definitely will purchase again. 😊👍
Your painting looks like fall! Nice pallet! Thanks for sharing. Love and light 💖🌟🌹

Thanks for this. Always good to see materials reviewed. Supplied brushes vary in quality but are always too small I feel.
Thank you so much
I have ordered it immediately,
from Aliexpress, for 26 euro shipped to the Netherlands
Let's try
and have a colourful day

This palette looks great! Great review Em ❤
a stunning palette, love how you used it ❤❤
thanks Emma, lovely set of colours! thanks!
I appreciate you taking the time to share your preference. I love the soft pastels and will order this.
Blessings, Marilyn from Pensacola.
Interesting! Looks like a great palette. Funny…I knew you’d love that olive green as soon as you swatched it!
Thanks. Always looking for affordable palettes for beginners. This might be a good one.
Thanks!
Thank you!!
Nice little travel palette :) perfect for outdoor painting ;)
Thank you for this nice testing out video ^^
These colors look great!
I Love these colour tones 😃

Love this palette. Enjoying the colors. Wish I knew the brand of brush.
I love PR 100 % cotton hot press paper. Nice to see the paints are good. I am going to look for links to that huge PR sketchbook you have. :-)

I started off with a Michaels artist loft palette too! This would be a wonderful upgrade! The paper was ok
@@EmmaLefebvre thank you! :)
What happens when you use up a colour? Do you try to buy a tube of something close and refill? Does it give you pigment numbers?
Thanks!
Do you know how light fast the colors are?
Ordered them ❤
I haven't tried this set out, but I recently got Mungyo and liked the paint. Have you tried Mungyo, Emma, and if so, what are your thoughts?
Yes! A viewer sent me one a few years back! I like that one too!
The layout as is so confusing to me. Definitely would rearrange it for my brain to make it more cohesive to my art style . 🤣
I bought one last month and color names on chart didn’t match the pan labels! I had to unwrap them all. Tedium! Plus they had jumbled up inside the tin not even in a hole!
I’ve found metalics are so opaque! Unsure how to handle.
$35 on Amazon in US
Looks nice.
What about light fastness?
What quality was the paper?
Wasn’t amazing but wasn’t horrible. Wouldn’t buy it for the paper.

Really? I didn’t find them chalky at all! I do support buying a quality limited palette as well.
Which one as you referring too , please ?

Too many colors. Once you run out of the ultramarine, your red and yellow and burnt sienna, you have a palette of 36 leftovers...
I think you get a commission that's why it's praised by you.

Will you get the grand prize of being the biggest a-hole
