This Aldolpho must have the best comedic timing I’ve ever seen
my nephew's group did this play, and I think "I don't wanna change keys no more" was one of my hardest laughs of 2024.
Mrs. Tottendale is so fun, I love how she's always so infectiously upbeat. Her Underling was properly fed up, too, so they made a lovely couple.
Same i love how ditsy she is
She kinda reminds me of Rose from Golden Girls
Loved this show...one of the most creative on Broadway I saw. It was hilarious. The actor playing Adolpho...is just hilarious. Loved him!
When you're mom says one more video before bed 😂

Aldalpho!!!! All the guys and Mrs. Tottendale too! THAT TALENT!!! Trix has an absolutely beautiful voice Too! The other women on the other hand... I'm thinking Whoever played Trix should have been casted in a more integral role honestly.... She has more talent than any of the other women.
yeah, ik u posted this a long time ago, but janet was terrible
@@tdcrsrshe's so bad bro
A couple of the roles are ment to be played poorly
I love this show so much the music is so old fashioned but at the same time so catchy and funny
We're doing this musical in college and I auditioned and was casted as Adolpho. I'm excited to start when the semester begins. I was impressed with the entire cast. I would specifically recognize Mrs. Tottendale. She was one of my favorites in this performance. I would also say Robert did an outstanding job. Overall, I really enjoyed watching this.
Noah Thomas how did it go?
woah Robert's voice had me SHOOK other than like rushing a little bit his voice was so goOD dayum
Huh, it seems my school replaced "Message from A Nightingale" with an intermission...I guess they thought it was too racist.
darktangent10 mine almost cut it out entirely
My school put in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Mine kept it in!
OUR SCHOOL DID MESSAGE FROM A NIGHTINGALE AND LET ME TELL YOU IT DID NOT GO WELL AT ALL. EVERYONE HATED IT
I get to find out if my school does or not.
This was my hs musical when I'm a freshman in hs, I'm twenty now and hate how relatable the man in the chair has become
I went to this show that they had did at a high school, and I loved it! Adolpho was the best character to me. I loved it. I would love to watch this every week.
I get the chance to play the man in the chair next fall, and after watching this show, I'm so so so excited
Funny I was just commenting on how hard that role is and that this guy was perfect. Break a leg. Not literally!!
@@bobbywise2313 Thank you!!!
oh yea lol im playing it too just casted 2 days ago how did your production go?
It went really well. Most fun I’ve ever had with a role. Break a leg. Have fun
The man In the chair is fantastic! But that Janet is like expressionless and flat?? Trixi sounded much better! Would have cast this a little differently but still a very good production over all!
Talia Wilson totally agree!!!!
voice projection means everything in live shows
I could not agree more! I defiantly feel as for being one of the main character Janet seemed to lack the emotion in comparison to her counterpart Robert though I do personally think everywhere else this is one of the best performances I have seen!
Fun fact that Man in Chair is trans
@@QuiztressMadi cool :) I love hearing about trans people in theatre and man in chair is one of my dream roles :D
Playing the Drowsy Chaperone in this musical in 2 weeks. So excited!!! It's an amazing show. Lots of fun.
45:26 sis really held that note for a good ten seconds !! the talent
This is soo cool to see! This was my high school production and my ABSOLUTE favorite show I have ever had the pleasure to be in. Being in the ensemble was 10/10 the most fun I have ever had rehearsing, performing, and now remembering (: thank you for uploading this so I can revisit this 10 YEARS later!
I love this show so much, I was in the ensemble in it once. Like, my love for this show reaches no limits and this production is amaaazing, they're all hilarious and just basically awesome. Standing ovation deserved.
This is my favorite musical I’ve ever listened to, i just performed this at my high school as 1st trumpet in the band, and the comedy and characters in this musical make this one of my favorite experiences ever
Honestly the best version on UA-cam
Why does the narrator remind me so much of emperor Kuzco
Judy W probably cus the characters are both very cynical
And also they both say “No touchy. No touch.”
The tap dancing was AMAZING!!!!!
I've loved this musical for years, but this is the first time I've ever gotten to watch it through. I fell in love again. Thank you!
I saw this last night at Satellite Beach HS & it was great So funny plus my granddaughter played Drowsy & of course she sounded like an angel when she sang. Boy can she belt!
Sound operator for this Show, lemme tell ya, chills sent down my spine nearly every song, and god the amount of characters in every scene makes it incredibly hard to mix but it's always worth it in the end :)
I’m doing this show in April and playing Kitty. I’m absolutely in love with this show and the cast
I just finished my callback for Kitty!!! I AM SO EXCITED, I will update when I get my role! :) EDIT: I got Gangster #2, still happy tho
Gangsters are banging don’t you worry
I’m auditing for CYT’s production of it and I hope I get one of the gangsters
@@jetthonaker9792 Break a leg! I’m in the Drowsy Chaperone rn (we perform in may) and im Trix! It’s SUCH a wonderful show you will have so much fun so matter what role you get!
@@sophiasarros hey love, I’m auditioning for trix and was wondering what song you auditioned with?
@@kami_2468 I auditioned with Waiting for Life from Once on this Island!
My school did it, and seeing a different version makes me sad and happy. I’m sobbing right now because it’s over.
god I love this show. It's so much fun and the somgs are catchy and the Man in The Chair is such a good charater and just ugh I love it. I'm really excited for my school to do this show and I'm going to be auditioning. It's just so good and I love the Live or Leave speech I just love this show.
It's sad that the man on the chair drinks himself to death.
I'm TRIGGERED um...no he doesn't
@@imtriggered9819 wait is that true?
@@imtriggered9819 wait what??? wdym??
@@imtriggered9819 ohhh wait are you talking about the “actor” who plays aldolpho??
My high school just performed this and it was one of my favorite things ever
I’m actually working on a poster for them since they all worked so hard
I saw this the other day at a Highschool :0 The cast were brilliant, Broadway good. My cousin was playing as Janet. I love this Musical
Well I’m proud to say that me and my fellow cast has performed in the opening of drowsy chaperone today!!
(I’m a reporter btw❤️)
so excited to do this musical, we havnt casted yet but we will soon. I can't wait to just perform this it will be so fun. this has become my favorite musical to ever exist
I'm auditioning for Mrs. Tottendale, and I'm soooo excited. I really hope I get cast as her. If anyone has any tips, that would be wonderful! 💕💕💕
Angela Rojas how did it go?
I went to see this show the other night at the high school I'm going to be attending next school year and although there was apparently a very small audience, that didn't matter and the show was really fantastic and funny. not to mention the kid who played adolpho was extremely hilarious and had everyone in the auditorium laughing like a hyena!
+Samuel Black Lol I think I go to the same high school
Trix's parts 9:37 1:28:38 1:29:30
You talk like trick is the best part.
@@raycenelson6668 Well it's my favorite part :)
Can’t argue with that. 😁😁
ARRMMMYY
trix supremacy 🛐🛐🛐
my theatre group is doing this! I thought it was a bit obscure because it is from ages 9-15. but I'm happy with my role. I'm going to be George! I'm super excited.
O'Brien Crew be the best man, George!
This cast was amazing. How could any lover of musical theater not like this? The Drowsy Chaperone is one of my all time favorites and possibly the funniest musical ever.
I loved the narrator in the especially because that is such a hard part. Not only does he have a lot of lines but it is hard to find that sweet spot where you are funny but not overdoing it. I think he was perfect. And of course Adolfo is my favorite character This actor seemed to love being Adolfo.
I’m performing in this during spring, I’m really hoping to get mrs. Tottendale, or Kitty! This show is truly a masterpiece, definitely one of my favorites I’ve seen. Good luck to anybody else In it!!
My high school trying to do this was the biggest ABOMINATION in the history of theater!! And it’s really a shame because it is such a well produced musical!!
This was a very incredible show, because of this, this show is now my favorite musical 😁but that smaller chef was really good. She had a very amazing voice and was good at acting♥️ I would have wanted to see her in a bigger role♥️♥️ but this was a very amazing show🤩
My school is doing this musical and I got cast as the underling :)
Our school is also doing this show, and tomorrow they will give parts. God please, I do hope I get Underling
Miso sa what did you end up getting? & considering it was 2 years ago... how did the show go?
DUDE THREE YEARS AND I WANNA KNOW WHAT YOU GOT
Please. We need to know. I have waited 4 years for this knowledge.
I’m trying to know too
it’s been 5 years what did you get???
My highschool just did this musical, and it is now one of my favorite musicals ever. While the highschool version will probably always be my favorite, i have no words to describe how amazing this is! Great job!
"What do I do, scold feets?"
I always loved that line. XD
7:54 Her voice sounds exactly like an old voice being played on an old record
Thats so impressive
Seriously I can't get over that how do you do that???
This Tottendale is so gosh darn funny I love her
Everyone here did INCREDIBLE! my school actually did this show a few weeks ago, and I feel like no matter how this show is done, it’s amazing every time
So I know I’m far from the only one talking about how this is the show their drama club is doing but I’m auditioning for man in chair and thank you for uploading this for me to use as a basis.
LOL "Just throw it!" that scene made me laugh!
Just saw the play done at a high school in MN. It was fantastic.
This is my favorite musical of all time ❤
i've watched this musical already about 20 times. my school is doing it. I'm man in chair.
Hands down favorite musical

God I love this play!!!
I’m currently man in chair in drowsy chaperone jr! Fun show!
a local theater will be performing this show this year. never heard of this one, but watching this recording gave me a pretty good idea of what it's all about. I may listen to the soundtrack too. i may go for an ensemble role, a chorus part. that Aldolpho had me in stiches.
This was perhaps the best I have ever seen Adolfo portrayed. He had me rolling.
had me in stiches. i"ll looking forward to what our local theater does with this show.
what’d you end up getting
My highschool just had their last showing of this play and it was amazing!
The commitment in this show is awesome
I saw a production of this in 2018 and really liked it.
Im not a huge fan of musicals, but this is amazing.
We are doing this musical for my high school this year and I'm so excited
Ah you can tell who the underclassmen are, love it though!
but... this isn't a high school
@@niccospatrick410 it actually is a high school production!
Hi I’m the Man in Chair, and yes it was a HS production 😊 Nipomo High School’s theatre company performing at the Arroyo Grande Clark Center. I was a junior, and it was one of the most life changing experiences to put on.
My school is doing this as a musical and I'm trying out to be Kitty. I don't know how well it will go over because we had trouble when we did Thoroughly Modern Millie, and the bar scene came up. The parents had a fit. We'll see how this plays out...
Thank you!
Dakota Thompson yeah my school is doing it as well.
Do you play anyone!
Found You Dev :3
And I'm in it to. I suck.
Thanks guys this was amazing and very well done

I'm gonna make an interview of this musical when it gets shown in our school!
abt to play chaperone in just a few weeks i love this show so much bruh
Break a leg and have fun. This musical is so funny and has great songs as well.
discovered this musical from a friend i did matilda the musical with... i was completely in love with rudolpho so he took Aldolpho's song and replaced the names. figured i'd check out the original and needless to say i am very happy i did😭

I am doing the sound for this show!
I like Trix's voice a lot
Sometimes I feel like I relate a bit too much to the Man In The Chair in that I too am unhealthily obsessed with the Drowsy Chaperone to the point where my social life has been ruined.
we’re doing this at my school this year!! i got cast as george :))
Oooo my school is doing this next and I'm so excited for it!!!
The narrator looks like Gerard Way in so many angles/scenes
