Just bought a 20 and a 30 and although the sound is INCREDIBLE, setting up the app is a PAIN IN THE ASS! It took me a good 2 hours to try to get the Soundtouch App setup only to figure out that the only way to get the damn thing to setup is by unplugging EVERY Wi-Fi device in my house so that my Bose speakers get all the undivided attention from the router. As soon as I did that, the "please wait" on the setup went away almost immediately and got this thing set up in 2 minutes. What kind of bullshit setup is this, Bose?
Just an update to some of the app connection issues -- we also had when we changed phone and modem recently. Mi Da's reply might have saved us beaucoup time (thank you!!) and we started by disconnecting all devices from wifi except the "host" iPhone. Even so, some trouble connecting, but the second time through we noticed the Sound Touch (grayed-out at the time) box "if not working" -- once tapped, the devices immediately began synching, and we had no trouble from there. Small house, only the one Bose speaker, and brand new router but device works great, all the time, now. Hope others will solve their issues!

is it possible to play music directly from a usb stick?
Hate this thing, never works smooth for me, so I took it to my office. Trying to setup again but never shows up on my wifi network. Must be a trick someplace.
do i need an extra device for two soundtouch 20? like a hub?
and which bose devices can i use in sync with my soundtouch 20? searching for a soundbar and a sub oder some more speaker
For playing on two Soundtouch 20s you do not need anything except Bose SoundTouch App. As for other devices you can only use via WiFi with other Bose Soundtouch capable devices. They are all on one page . www.bose.com/en_us/products/speakers/smart_home/soundtouch_family.html

Soundtouch software is truly garbage. Your music library has to be organised via Windows Media Player and the choice of radio stations is dismal unless you like the handful of mainstream radio stations offered via the app.
Because of this I have to use as a bluetooth speaker and use Radio Garden on a mobile phone instead.
Maybe Sonos would have been a better choice
You need a pre-amp to run a turntable through AUX. Bass is mud, overall sound is nothing to write home about, --

What alternative do you suggest?
Bose Sound 20, great sound. Horrible everything else. Never works smoothly, interface slow, not simple. Tried to be sleek but is simply frustrating. I have two, app needed to work well and sync together, but the app never works well. Disappointed with this (not cheap purchase) won't be going back to Bose.
This is awful. Sound is nice but you can't play a thumb usb drive on the soundtouch 20.
Horrific product. Don't buy unless you plan to spend at least 20 minutes on initial setup and connectivity before EVERY time you want to use it. Bose network and speakers are designed to disconnect all the time. The video sync feature is a networking disaster; one never knows when people on conference calls will hear echo.
