Thank you for the fine video of Ft.Benning.I went through Basic Training and Airborne School back in 1986.Airborne School changed a lot with new buildings.I really feel old but it brought back memories of great fun jumping from the 34 foot towers and the 250 foot Mighty Ungawa.I used to belong to the 1/508th Parachute Infantry(Red Devils)in Panama.Great Video Mr.Nilsen!!!
I had the pleasure of spending quality time at Benning for Basic training. I wish I could of seen it in its entirety. As soon as I was processed out of there it was off to AIT.
30:36 The Bussey Plantation Home. Property was purchased from the Bussey Family Plantation in 1917 to create Camp Benning, later changed to Ft. Benning. The home is now the Commanding General's Quarters.
The white 3 story bldg @19:12 with the clock on the corner...all cast iron facade. It was shipped over from England, pre-Civil War, hidden in a cotton warehouse during the war so it wouldn't be smeltered for canonballs, then erected shortly after the war.
"Here we go...the beautiful scenery of NJ that we see..." I dunno, but those look just like the smokestacks you can see in Gary, Indiana on the outskirts of Chicago belching out all that stuff that they do. Obviously, you were being facetious, no?
Probably not an area you can tour, really only on family days I would imagine, and only the families there for it. I'll get quite the tour when I arrive there for OSUT on August 4th, 2020, which is why I am watching. To learn about my home away from home for the next 6 or so months.
NOT what I was expecting. What did I watch? And where did the kid go at the end? You drove all the way back to ATL for what? To drop ur parents off? Is the kid stationed at Benning? Did he go through through Benning? If so when? The very beginning, I heard the kid mention Ranger but that was it. An hour video with only 15 minutes of Benning. And NOT a second of the REAL Benning where I went through in 83' Harmony Church A-4-2 And NOT Sand Hill Hilton

The museum tour video (the second link) will likely have what you want to see. The tour guide was at Benning years ago as a soldier.
We were the last group to go through "The Church" early in '88. Then they moved us to Sand Hill.
