Gotta be top contenders for greatest of all time, any team. Each one of them was, at one point or another, the best in their position. And all three complemented each other so well, perfect trifecta.
@@garethpearce5255 Fair argument. I do think Pocock was kind of wasted being played at #8 to allow Michael Hooper to fit into the team though. He should have been the #7 from day 1
Not only stopping Ioane (who was a beast of a runner with ball in hand) that close to the line but picking him up and driving him backwards (legally even by today’s standards) can’t be understated. And in a crucial part of a World Cup semi final at that. What an amazing 6, and imo something the current ABs squad is missing with all their 7’s in the loosie positions. I know he’s considered a ‘once in a generation player’ but I have high hopes for the young Sititi after watching him against the current benchmark team, the springboks (and that’s from an All Blacks supporter) he carried so well and is very brave and seems very mature for such a young player. Get Kaino in for his tackle practice and we could have another great 6 🖤
Kaino was a little bit lucky to play at a time when upright, chest-to-chest tackling was the pinnacle of defence. Before they lowered the tackle area, and got tougher on head contact. And almost no one did it better than Kaino who was almost always dominant in any collision. An absolute freak as well to be that big, strong, fast, athletic, skilled and tough. No doubt he'd still be a legend if he'd come up in a different era.
I know this video is about Kaino but I have to mention Aaron crudens ball playing at 2:38 an example of prime Aaron cruden a player I think we never saw reach his potential.
Love how I always considered one of the great back rows as Warburton, Tipuric, Faletau which was essentially a weird rendition of Kaino, Mccaw, Read. Unstoppable ABs
Still looking for a worthy replacement. Frizell and Akira both have their moments, both good and bad. Kaino was just an absolute monster of a ball carrier, and enforcer.
I was doing a sausage sizzle once to fundraise for a school trip and Jerome Kaino came and bought one. Whipped out $100 cash and told me to keep the change. Couldn’t even get the words “thank you” out because I was just in awe at the size of the guy. He really is an absolute man mountain
I have a hard time believing Jerome Kaino isn't part of my family. We share a rare name and I'm pretty sure in our line-up of largely blonde Nords there is some resemblance. So proud of cuz Jerome -definitely the greatest!
Frizell is clearly the best imposter available atm. But he's just warming Ethan Blackadders jersey for him. Imo Blackadder is the full package and can play as a 7 too to replace Cane if we need too. Imo blackadder at 7, frizell or Barrett at 6 and ardie at 7 or 8 is our best combination and really any of those three or four can play almost any position on the back row. We've been extremely unlucky with injury/suspension to key forwards this year. Would of been great if Blackadder had been available as I think he's the future of that back row.
kaino, mccaw, read and you wonder why NZ is struggling at the moment? who is even comparable with these champions in the matchday kiwi team? also the locks are no more the guys playing with the above 3rd row i have no clue why people think that with robertson NZ will be way better than this
Savea and Jordan. "The locks are no more the guys playing with the above 3rd row"?? That doesn't make sense? Because he'll bring a change to the tactics and even personnel that isn't working, doesn't mean they'll be loads better but you don't know until you try
I am English and when I watch JK, I see a a hard working, hard running, unselfish, humble and underrated warrior, whom I contrast with Dallaglio (albeit an 8 rather than 6), whom is none of those things.
When Jerome looks in the mirror he doesn't see his reflection because there can only be one Jerome Kaino!💪
It's funny, because it's true.
All the Chuck Norris jokes for Blackadder are surpassed by Kaino. And Collins(RIP legend 🖤🕊️) for that matter, what absolute legends if the game
Kaino, McCaw, Read... greatest AB's (and dare I say it, world) backrow tandem ever
Say it, it's fact.
Gotta be top contenders for greatest of all time, any team. Each one of them was, at one point or another, the best in their position. And all three complemented each other so well, perfect trifecta.
@@mikedangerdoes Pocock > McCaw
@@Waywind420occasionally true, but he didn't have the longevity, or the durability.

One of the best number 6's to play for the All Blacks. Great video!!

I remember in an interview he mentioned looking up to the late Jerry Collins as an example of physicality. Jerry would be proud
Imo the best 6 rugby has ever produced. Nz have never been the same since he retired
Yeah, man, I second that.

With Messam at 6 I thought NZs back row were one of the toughest to play against. With Kaino at 6 they were impossible to play against.
Messam was only a good player.
Kaino and Read were great players.
Messam? He was average.
The AB's need a "Kaino" right about now -funk soul brother.
Legend.

That's just it, Kaino is on a completely 'nother level to any of the current crop.
Same with McCaw.

Thanks, great video
One of my heroes.
He doesn’t get enough credit anymore
He does, they haven’t replaced him since he left….one of the greatest ABs
@@michaelkonelio7452,
There are very few people who could -none (so far) in the current AB's squad, that's for sure.
Man's a legend, not only in NZ.
Best 6 ever in my book.
When Kaino was in that allblacks back row, we so enjoyed the matches.
I have a hard time believing Jerome Kaino isn't part of my family. We share a rare name and I'm pretty sure in our line-up of largely blonde Nords there is some resemblance. So proud of cuz Jerome -definitely the greatest!
I think one of the All Blacks problems is that they’re asking Ioane (and that scumbag Frizell) to play as Kaino which just isn’t possible.
He was dropped of the charges anyway get over urself

I will pick ardie, blackadder, papali, sotutu & fritzel to rwc 23.
The ultimate 6. Had everything you'd want in the position.
kaino, mccaw, read

Savea is definitely up there with those men.
Not quite, but he's def a force.... it felt like South Africa vs Beauden and Ardie last sunday morning
Skill, speed and size. What a player
A number 6 with the ball skills of a midfielder
What a player 👌
Incredible player....
Weird seeing the Springbok defence so passive in that first try considering how SA defend now.
Would Ardie be a starter if the legendary big 3 is playing? (Kaino, Mccaw, Read)
Akira Ioane should take notes on how to use your physicality at Test level without the aggro and ego.
Do Victor Vito
I am English and when I watch JK, I see a a hard working, hard running, unselfish, humble and underrated warrior, whom I contrast with Dallaglio (albeit an 8 rather than 6), whom is none of those things.
Do Charles Piutau
Akira ioane and Shannon frizzell need to watch this.
Do one of doen steggman en Arno botha
A lot of similarities between him and SBW, though maybe kaino has more instinct for things like charge downs
Shannon Frizzell is the same kinda player but no AB coach is using the man.
He’s not even close mate
👍
