144 pieces wow! I am sure geometry classes helped you design this spherical ornament! 😍 Congrats for this 3D quilling work, my mind is blown away Abi! I want to see this year's Christmas tree ornamented with these balls 😉🥰
Hahaha I think there will be only this one hanging on the tree :D It will take a whole life time to decorate a whole Christmas tree with only those ornaments 😂
I wanted to make your ball because I really like it. I made half of it and tried to put it together but it doesn't work. The parts fit together nicely, they are all the same size, but when I try to assemble them, it looks like the parts are too small or the ball is too big. The measurements of the straps are correct (10 and 7.5 cm). I use the model, it has several levels of volume (11 or 12 with a pedestal). You have a square below and I have a circle. For me, the circumference of the smallest circle is 5mm. Can you tell me the scope of yours? Only here I think there could be a difference. The ball is 6cm in size, like yours (I also cut it to make sure it is the right size, it is made of styrofoam). I can't really see my mistake anywhere, so it kills me and I really want to make the ball, even if I have to do it from the beginning. Sorry for the long text, but I hope you can figure out what's wrong.
Hi, your measurements are exactly like mine in the video. But you wrote that your quillings look too small on the ball or the ball is too big for it. The scope of the first ring on my model is 2,5cm. I think there is the mistake. I would recommend trying some other sizes on your border buddy tool. Just make 21 more ring coils of a bigger size and try to place them on your ball. Be sure that those ring coils cover 1/4 of the upper part of the ball. You can only be sure this way. (This is what I mean in the video 2:25). Or if your ring coils are too small, you can add another row to them. But they also have to cover 1/4 of the upper part of the ball. (I also made one with 4 rowsin the video at 7:05) I made this ball with 8 parts that's why all parts must have the same size. I hope my answer was helpful. Please, let me know if it worked 🥰
Thanks for such a quick reply and advice. I'll try all the variants you mentioned and there's no way I won't succeed. I'll definitely let you know when I do.@@AbisArtwork
I tried with the 4th line and it didn't work. Then I tried to make it bigger (level 2) and it worked. But I ran out of ribbons and will continue when I get new ones. Unfortunately, there is a poor offer in Slovenia, so I get everything from abroad, but it takes time.
wow lovely ornament...so much fun to watching this

Ermosos. Gracias
Can this be made and glue directly to a plastic ornament? I’d love to put some glitter in it for a snow globe effect behind the quilling
Sure! Actually that's much easier than my quilling ornament :)
Awesome! Off to make teacher gifts! Thank you for a wonderful tutorial!!
You are welcome. Happy quilling 😊
beautiful 😍
Thanks 😊

That's what I want to hear :D You can do it, I'm sure :) You just need to experiment a little bit :) You can share your results on Facebook with me :)

Thanks a lot Becca :)
