Tim Mungenast choked up isn't the word. Coping with a case of unrequited love when I least expected and discovered the song by accident. I'm devastated.
I remember this as a child, after all these years hearing it brings me $%$#%^$^ goosebumps, this live version is better than the one on the album I have to say.
This song, front and back, in the film "Candy" just about blew my mind wide open. Stunning. This one is so deep I'm afraid to see all the way down to the bottom... I have anyway.
I like this version better than the one that was on "Starsailor". Nothing against that version or the album(which is AMAZING!), I just thought this version from the Monkees TV show had more emotion.
I also think this is the best version. The album version always sounds incredibly over-produced to me. Of course, I knew this one years before I heard the album version. And I like the oyster.
outstanding man a master pice of a song first time i heard this song was in movie Candy Such A Great movie my fav movie of all time RIP Heath Ledger. Heath breathes a sweet and tender optimism into Dan, a sometime poet lost in love with Candy. u have got to see this movie xxxxxx
This performance was the last scene of the final episode of "The Monkees;" hence the introduction by Micky Dolenz. In the next-to-last episode Mike Nesmith conducted Frank Zappa as he "played" the car that Tim's sitting on; hence why the car is wrecked.
Long afloat on shipless oceans I did all my best to smile 'Til your singing eyes and fingers Drew me loving to your isle And you sang Sail to me, sail to me Let me enfold you Here I am, here I am Waiting to hold you Did I dream you dreamed about me? Were you hare when I was fox? Now my foolish boat is leaning Broken lovelorn on your rocks For you sing 'Touch me not, touch me not Come back tomorrow Oh, my heart, oh, my heart Shies from the sorrow' I am as puzzled as the oyster I am as troubled at the tide Should I stand amid the breakers? Or should I lie with death my bride? Hear me sing 'Swim to me, swim to me Let me enfold you Oh, my heart, oh, my heart Is waiting to hold you' Songwriters Tim Buckley, Larry Beckett
no shit flsej, you think he doesn't know that? He was obviously kidding. Seriously look how old this is, Frusciante wasn't even born yet for fuck sakes, lol!
Anyone besides me get a little choked up listening to this magical song?

One of the best songs ever sung and written. It transcends everything.
Martin Pulaski - Agreed. It's like religion. No one could have just written this - it comes from somewhere else. A gift.
Buckley didn't write the lyrics.
Beyond brilliant.
Beautiful! And a big nod to Mickey Dolenz for getting Tim on the show.
This is brilliant magic, thank god someone preserved it
Love this monkees episode of, Tim Buckley singing song to the siren. On accustic guitar very moving.

actually from 1968, from the final episode of the Monkees. The best version of this song ever.
This song, front and back, in the film "Candy" just about blew my mind wide open. Stunning. This one is so deep I'm afraid to see all the way down to the bottom...
I have anyway.
Beautiful song :)
My favourite version too, thanks so much for posting. RIP Tim.
one of the most beautiful and haunting folk songs ever recorded

Wow!! Terrific.
Long afloat on shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
'Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle
And you sang
Sail to me, sail to me
Let me enfold you
Here I am, here I am
Waiting to hold you
Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you hare when I was fox?
Now my foolish boat is leaning
Broken lovelorn on your rocks
For you sing
'Touch me not, touch me not
Come back tomorrow
Oh, my heart, oh, my heart
Shies from the sorrow'
I am as puzzled as the oyster
I am as troubled at the tide
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Or should I lie with death my bride?
Hear me sing
'Swim to me, swim to me
Let me enfold you
Oh, my heart, oh, my heart
Is waiting to hold you'

The wispy past of tomorrow.
wow.. what a great song! frusciante was right to cover something like this
What is the camera doing tho ? What is that zoom action ? Love this song so much, it’s kinda distracting tho. Camera person was definitely high
Fantastic. Without a doubt better than the LP version. The production on that whole LP sucked.
... same look, same blood ...
ahahahahHAHAHAH......yes, okkiiiiiiiiiii...........

As is typical, your English grammar is plenty good. Especially in comparison to many native speakers. Don't apologize.
I agree the music today's top fourty music sucks except for christian and country. This is definetly a great classic song from the sixties.
John Frusciante Cover!......
