Muska, still with a backpack 20 years later. HERO
Its never been taken off
he goes to sleep with it too
Legend has it he was born with it
I skated with a backpack because of him
More backpack than man nowadays
"Any wave... there's a crash."
-Chad Muska
Muska was so much bigger then skateboarding at one point. Its crazy to think how popular he really became. And this was all before social media and all of that shit. Muska was and will always be a legend and pioneer in skateboarding.
Even non-skaters knew the name
Pioneer of WHAT lol. Perhaps of carrying unnecessary large backpacks and giant headphones and boomboxes while ollieing? I don't get it and I'm glad it died out. That phase in skateboarding was pure jock athlete attrocity.
erak
Preach brother! And why he STILL wearing one? He doesn’t even skate anymore. Makes me think he peaked in the 90s.
erak y’all mad or what lmao. Let the man live
Haha pathetic loser erak you don't understand style swag art the true lit culture era
Skating in the 90s was definitely THEE shit. I would do anything to go back
Skating in the 80's killed the early & mid 90's. The 80's had everybody skating in more of a counterculture scene, not mainstream, but with real identity
I went to UCSB in 93, so these guys were around
80s
@@JointFive 90s-00s kids skated street ..
@@chrisshiherlis95 I know, I stopped when big pants small wheels started, love skaters from that Era too, but started again before collage in 93. The 80's was more punk, maybe my age was a big part, but it felt a lot different
My first Skateboard. The Blue Muska silhouette sitting on a ledge. Miss those days of late nights skating, no responsibility and having fun getting pumped over learning new tricks.
I had the red one, and the rising sun
kiitian I had the red one too - first new deck, 55 quid back in 98 seemed alot!
I feel this in my soul. Good times.
I have the deck with Muska looking like a South Park character. Good times!
Absolutely my experience as well. I had the red one. The most perfect skateboard ever made.
i remember in the 6th grade having his red and white circas with a stash pocket in the tongue.. im 26 now crazy crazy
Augie Breceda same here and we the same age
Yeah when you said 6th grade I was like hmm he must be 26 or 27 cause I did too in the same grade
Jason Hernandez wtf is your problem they never said a word about smoking dope he only mentioned the lil pocket
We not old. Dont belive the hype. We like fine wine, getting better with time.
Fuck man I always wanted those. I had to settle for the grey and red ones
Love how Muska always looks like he's got somewhere else to be..
Well yeah he's got to make some beats and bomb some hills
Lol true.
Yea...he do
@@renofheavens2 drum and bass bro
Shortys was my shit. I got Fulfill the dreams on VHS I wanna say like 1998 (Whenever it came out, can;t remember) , Me and my homies watched it every morning before we went and skated all day. Every damn day n night. I was pretty poor and from the str8 up hood but we always found ways to make skrilla to get our own shit if our parents couldn't supply it. Had the backpack, shoes n all. Shortys was what gave me my fuel to keep going in skateboarding. Fulfill the dreams will always be my favorite movie of movies! Thanks for that Chad, It was and still is a huge part of my life and who I am today!
dito :)
them muska es's with the stash pocket in the tongue ... GOAT
jmfm0911 stash pocket way before Travis Scott.
Original
I was too young to ever appreciate the stash spot back in the day lol
The Ipath’s too. 🔥
Circas weren't they?
Chadillac muskalade
Sayyoulovesatan I wanted that board soo bad when I was in 8th grade
I know what you mean. A friend and I were super into circa shoes at the time and had the musks shoe and the Jamie Thomas shoe. Wish I still had them now.
@@sayyoulovesatan666 yeah they are worth a arm and a leg now old skate shoes have really became another form of jordans but theres people out there that would dumpster dive just for some skate shoes also shoes from 2000-2012 had better quality now its just nike vans converse.
So true my friend so true
@@kyle-9203 I agree man, what was your fav old skate shoe or brand? es was my all time fav' s I went thru so many pairs. I tried other brands and sig models but I always ended back up with es on my feet.
Met muska years ago probably in 06'.. he was cool af. I still have the picture, I just said "Muska" he looked over and threw up some rock horns 🤘 and I got a picture of him 😂 I think he genuinely loved skateboarding and his fans. Those early 2000s were the best ❤️
I’m 35 and I skated from around the age of 13 - 15, not long at all. Fulfill the dream was a video that had such an impact on me I still think about it every so often. I became a rap fan around the same time and still am now. It was such a big part of all of that. What an incredible video. It signified the end of the 90s and was a coming of age thing for me. Classic video
I still rock skytops
When mike valelly charged those sec guards and set the musk free epic shit !
Muska was the reason I rode shorty's skateboards.
sirgigglez he was the reason I didn't haha
Peter Smolik
Metoo
I thought about getting the silhouette deck at one point.
I still have my Muska Beats Cd.
Mine's signed!
He licked mine
No one way I need a copy of that
Lol shortys tool kit with backpack i had it in grey the one that held the skateboard
The Restoration Life I still have the shortys backpack that folds into a chair
Bro i had that back pack shit was huggggeeeeee ppl made fun of me for it lol
Spoiled
Still have one and in grey too
I had the red one that thing was dope it could hold everything u needed for like 5 days lol
Damn Crob, ask him a question and let HIM answer it. Plus just dead the horses thing. You bring it up with every shortys rider.
Dude Chad Muska Was my idol when I was growing up 12 years old man whit a shorty skateboard Distructo trucks with pig truck pads and black Magic griptape a stereo on my shoulder and skating around town doing it the way chad did it. He was a big influence in our lives And it was a pleasure watching him and he will always and forever be In the skateboard hall of fame and our hearts and in our minds!!!! We shall never forget!!!!!!! Chad Mad Love!!!!!!
fulfill the dream was one of the best skate videos ever. Peter smolik super tech, brandon turner switch hardflip down carlsbad to name a few.
Aaron Snyder nosegrind nollie 360 flip
Jay Gilling hell yeah I forgot about that
Shyt was dope
@@1439of2000 fucking nollie nosegrind nollie 360 flip out. for 1998 that was a serious banger
Switch flip down Carlsbad was I’m guilty but legendary
Who else still has their fulfill the dream VHS tape ?
That Shorty's Wave was Worldwide ... I don't know how the Fu@k they didn't parlay that into a Fortune??
I skated the Venice Pit and went to the street gap (the one Rick Howard 360 flips in Mouse) later that day, sometime around 1998. My friend Stu rode for Society Skateboards and Grind King, later on for ATM Click. He was trying to switch heel the street gap -- he was stomping them -- and Muska was there hyping him on like he was part of his crew. Muska was/remains such a good dude.
By the way, Victor Fonosch, who Kelly and Muska briefly talk about, was really talented. He wasn't in the spotlight for very long, but all the footage he put out was strong. He could hold noseslides for miles.
My favorite is when the host asks Muska a question and then answers it for him. how kind.
Brent Atchley 9 club would be rad
Def! I used to have beers with him in Portland and talk about aliens haha. Cool ass dude. Sickest style.
Hell yes
I was thinking the same thing the other day!!
I've been suggesting that for years.
Also starving for some new Brent Atchley or Trapasso footage any way I can get.
I have the VX that filmed his Element parts, it's a trophy piece. NW legend!
I rocked his blue on blue circas with the stash pocket
Chad Muska and Jamie Thomas were my mains in the THPS series.
Geoff Rowley and Andrew Reynolds for me.
Mullen all day every day. Lowest stats but the best by far. His flatland is legendary.
Muska with the 90s wigger drip I love it, never change king.
I literally bought a 99 Escalade when I was 18 because of Muska, fucking King
i also remember a night shorty's park were muska was gona quit and do company kareem or get on citystars so this was plan way before this story by a year or 2 before shorty's or him quitting
I still have my shortys 3 zipper backpack with the board carrier 15 years later. Best bag I've ever had. Muska is a legend
"Chad Muska" is such a perfect name for a skateboarder, especially someone like Chad Muska. A genuine GOAT.
MUsic + SKAte... my chilhood idol... the sun deck, the Circa 902 in red colorway... what a era!!!
I just had a whole flashback to Shortys existing.
LEGEND !!! Enough Said. Chad, thx for inspiration all those years. And great shoes: ) Love My Supras
How to go pro was my favorite. I loved that LA To NY bonus section. It was real chilled to watch back in the day.
That Paris catch at 10:07 was hilarious!!
Best dude. What a legend.
My first board was a muska. Man, I loved that board.
Mine was a smolik, i definitely had quite a few muskas as well. Miss those days
I remember when i first saw Muska in a Skateboard Magazine and a Bit later in thps He was a Inspiration for us, his Style with the trousers and everything was so cool back in the day
Muska doesn't age... Dude has always been an insane good skater. Cheers Muska!
Bro shut up for a sec and let muska find his words to explain!
Justin Reyes EXACTLY. Dude needs to shut up
Exactly this. Crob's constant and TOTALLY unnecessary repetitive comments and constant misinterpreting of where something is going etc. made me stop listening to the Nine Club... Did try for a bit with the Muska episode though, but christ, he says the same fucking things every episode when he doesn't need to say anything, there's no need to feign interest like that, and he derails guests' train of thought so often it got too much in the end... Once again, shouting at the sky, why interupt guests, with 100% unnecessary comments that always fuck up the flow of the conversation... 159 episodes and no self-reflection. Sad.
for real
@@SKATERHATER25 He's a knob head, looks like a pure meth fiend too. Dickhead how does he have a show haha
Yeah, this dude interupts a lot or adds his word or two in there too much.
Inspiration for sure. Such a positive dude and gnarly skater. This takes me back. Thanks for sharing
First deck in 3rd grade:
Shorty's Flight Chad Muska signature 7.5
Muska will always be my boy!!!
This one of the best interviews!
Agree
Shorty's was my first board. Good memories!
U guys have me at the edge of my seat, we need the next part of the interview, great interview btw
full almost 4 hour interview with muska is up by the way
Link in description
“I was in Paris.....France” - fucking love it! Muska was always my favorite
Chad Muska is indescribably amazing and fun person.
haven't watched it yet but thanks for letting the full version go 3 hours +. this was amazing
met chad musk at Whole Foods >,such a cool and down to earth guy!😊
Anywhere I went, I kept a copy of fulfill the dream in my backpack, showing it to anyone I possibly could. That was 20 yrs ago!!
Bro I love these segments touching up with the pro's is really nice. Honestly shines light on some but a quick input if you don't mind?? Probably will like it what if you invited AMs and even some just in flow but being in kids that are crushing it that don't get enough exposure??? Low key helping them out plus if they do make it huge you could be like (yeah I noticed him first ) lol but anyway much love from ya boy in OKC
Just watched his part in’How to Go Pro’ - super good!
Chad Muska doesn't need bagpack. Bagpack needs Chad Muska.
U mean backpack? Wtf
Shout out muska for paving the way
Guys get Lindsey Robertson, Steve Olson(shortys), and Brian Sumner
Lindsey for sure, ive been begging for a year now. And Jon Allie.
Yeah whatever happened to brian sumner!? He was in that tony hawk trick tips tape i had back in the day
@@letsgooo1637 he quit pro skating and is a pastor in england now
Lindsey is a diiiiick in real life, I skated with him here in my home town when he was trying to bs heel that green double kink rail wes kramer feeble in skateboarding is forever.
@@jaredbridwell6644 what was he like?
Who else has the shortys first aid kit? Saved my skateboard so many times lol
I didn't but my buddy did, I think I used it more than he did
Still in my garage to this day!
Hell yeah
Yep got mine and fulfill the dream on VHS 📼
I respect Muska a lot more after this interview. That sensational image was fun but reallity ages well.
I remember that premiere that’s crazy you quit that night! I was so hyped when the Sammy board was released then diamonds 💎
early 2000s was an awesome time, the whole shortys crew was my fav , loved muskas swag he represented CA well
amazing man unbelievable how he swagged up skateboarding so much
I’m not trying to point the finger or place blame but tony ruined everything😂😂😂😂
Muska part in fulfill the dream, I'm a 90s dude......nothing but style. And the soundtrack...man. good old days. Late 90s early 2000s. Best skate years of my fucking life.
I was in Paris...
Hilton 🤣
That "in Paris" line was great hahaha
The feeling of riding horses LMAO i felt that deeply in my soul as a youth in 98 and also now
The shorty's shirt with s on either sleeve. Nostalgiagasm.
I really cant stand when Interviewers ask questions then try to answer them for them and cant just shut up and let the person speak. He's not too too bad all the time but I do notice it a lot and its very annoying.
It does happen too often, so often I stopped listening to the Nine Club regularly. Crob needs to fucking evolve.
Dj Vlad does it too...... hella annoying
Chris Roberts and vlad just aimlessly spewing shit into the air while I’m working and I gotta put everything down to turn them off gawd
Chris' corny ass voice is awful too. I turn their videos off a lot just a few minutes in
“I was in Paris..... France” Chad Muska
Bob Hope I mean there is a Paris, Tx
I think he was clarifying that he didn't mean Perris, California, which is like SoCal's meth capital lmfao
Or Paris... Hilton
Paris Hilton bra
Paris ontario canada too buddy lol
Muska is such a character
The best 90’ video Fulfill the Dream.
Had a muska sig board, shorties decks always seemed to pop mad high. All good shit, that time in skating was my heyday, so nostalgic...
This was a great watch.
The most important question is - what happened to C1rca?
dude that paris talk is pure gold LOL
Would love to see Netflix do a bio miniseries on him
amazing interviews....Tom Penny next
"every wave crashed" that was deep :D
The muska outgrew the brand for sure.
Yall need part 2
Been wachin this for days and hav just noticed the jake phelps pic on a glass in background.. nice one boyz!! r.i.p. jake phelps!!!
Chris lmfao tht connection riding horses
Is the eternal backpack the source of these back problems? 🤔🤔 Muska been studying since 97.
I was in fourth grade and had the es muskAs first shoe! the gray and blue ones wish I still had them.. they should retro them bring them back..muska a legend
Chris roberts asks people questions then answers it himself lol.
he knows what's up, that's why.
this mans is ready to go back to school with that backpack
Cadillac Chad! He was my favorite skater back in the day. He was so sick in the original Tony Hawk
the shoe with the stash spot 💪
I think its hilarious that chad muska still wears a backpack like that
Or maybe, he just wore it for this appearance as it was an iconic look of his back in the day... Can't believe YOU think he is walking around like that every day...
@@ambientjohnny hahah do you skate? This dude hase a back pack in damn near EVERY video hes in. No shade givin towards him, hes aleays been one of my favs
@@NORTEskXIV Yes, I've been skating for 24 years. Also bought the VHS of Fulfill the Dream when it came out. Fact remains he dressed like that for the occasion of the interview, not because he's still wearing a backpack every day...
Funny how he talked about how people would perceive Guilty where when it came out I really exactly thought like "what is this whole weird vibe..?!" coming from watching Fulfill the Dream 24/7
Man I want one of those rising sun muska decks badly.
Still dope dealing I see. Such dedication
1999 = Skaters were buying skateboards from skate shops opened skateboarders that got skateboards from companies that were started buy skateboarders. Along with shoes shirts and the rest of the gear.
The goal was freedom and to never get stuck at desk job in corporate America.
2021 = Skateboarding kids buying trash from corporate America and the goal is to get famous and sell out on Instagram. Eric Koston and NikeSB destroyed skateboarding
i miss the muska shoes I used to stash weed in those like crazy
The Clips only when you’re thirteen. Once you get out of your teens...you care about the shape and feel of your buds. Stash pockets suck for that reason.
@@thomaspalaciosiv2129 good point plus weed was way more illegal back then. It did however save me multiple times from getting in trouble. The other solution is use a hard case. I dont even smoke anymore so i could give a fuck either way lol
💯
I was in Paris.... France 😂😂😂
Lmao I asked him this same question in 2008/2009 when element was on tour. Stewy’s skate park. He went for this crazy line over a half pipe and blew out his ankle. He’s just a rad dood.
I had a dope Shortys backpack in high school.
From 2002-2009 I only skated Muska boards... Lol
A true Boy Scout, “always be prepared” with a backpack!
Still love Muska 20 years later
