- We pitted our mega-mile Can-Am Defender HD8 and the Dirty Defender HD10 against Hog Canyon OHV just outside of Kanab, Utah! Did we make it out?

We’d spent months building up both rigs for the trip. Our ancient HD8 got a raft of ThumperFab parts that we put to the test last year, as well as 32-inch tires and KMC wheels. Hoyer, meanwhile, threw the SuperATV book at his HD10, bolting on doors, a windshield, front and rear bumpers, and a BFT suspension kit that allowed him to run a set of 32-inch Kenda tires. The real trick kit was a modified Maverick X3 clutch from KWI. The two rigs ate up everything we threw at them until a navigational miscalculation put us on a black diamond route and gravity took over.
How bad was the damage? Did we have to call Matt’s Offroad Recovery to get it out? You’ll have to watch the video to see. Trust us, it’s a good one. And don’t worry, there’s a part two coming, full of more adventures in America’s playground.

Thankfully now one was hurt except some pride and a couple parts. Kudos to you guys for sharing this video and keeping it real and showing that things can and go wrong during rides. No one panicked and got it recovered. A lot of people need to see this video.
It's always difficult to show perspective of how steep something is on camera. I could tell by the way you were standing that it was steep. "It felt good until it didn't"... I can totally relate to that comment! Great video, I'm glad no one was hurt. I was shocked at how easy the front end popped up when the Defender went over backwards. Steep hills are the one place where a lift and large tires are not your friend. I'm extremely impressed how well the Defender took it, started right up and continued to work.
Definitely Glad the Operator wasn't any more Messed Up than Usual
Glad everyone is OK and thanks for giving it a 120% !!
We have a new defender limited max and love it. This is why we stay off that kind of stuff and still have a great time.
🏆🙏🤗🇺🇲
Thank you for sharing
Took a roll and kept on rolling Can Am tough.
Top heavy with all extra stuff and didn't let off the throttle
Oversized tires, lift kits and being top heavy because of that extra rack did you in. Also,it looked to me that you didn't air down the tires, maybe I'm wrong.
So did you guys release the Barracks Trail video that you teased at the end?
It just takes a Polaris another round pulling the canam upside down 😂
I am glad you did not get hurt. That visco lock is the reason why I won't buy that brand. I am not saying my Ranger would have not flipped and had the same outcome, but that diff is dangerous in some situations. Lol, fire the camera operator.
My CANAM MAVERICK SPORT XRC has the "Slip-Lock front diff," so CANAM does make some 0f the models with "SLICK LOCK" Having said that, I would never attempt terrain like that, and I live in Utah.
The cameraman had one fucking job🤦♂️
My kawasaki teryx would walk right up that
That can am 4x4 looks terrible
That's what happens when you clearly don't know what your doing. Stayed in the gas to long. Then panic and hit the brakes instead of throwing it in reverse !! Better luck next time.
