Hey guys, I’ve always wanted to know the difference between applying for vac work and applying straight for articles. Does the two have any link?
Hi Onika, Vac work refers to vacation work, usually taken by law students during their university holidays. Articles, on the other hand, refers to a structured training program in which a trainee is employed as an articled clerk, to gain practical experience in a law firm with the aim of becoming a qualified lawyer.
In summary:
Vac work is a temporary, short-term opportunity for students to gain experience.
Articles is a formal, long-term training program for aspiring lawyers.
