Flares and Bumpers black, I like the contrast. Plus there is something about a Jeep with body matched paint on the flares just makes it look like a mall crawler.
I have those hood latches installed. I’d recommend switching the pin and cord to the backside. If it gets snagged on something it will just pull the pin out, as opposed to getting caught and potentially causing damage.
I would use rustoleum bed liner to paint the bumpers black but leave the fenders alone. Looks awesome! And when you scratch it, you simply touch it up. Just wish the front bumper still had fog light buckets.
Wow, that's come out so good... Just fenders, wheels n tires and front/rear bars work plus lights.. that's an awesome transformation. I would paint the wheels black plus the rear front and rear bar. I love the black contrast coming from the fenders.
Color is such a personal preference. For me, I like the contrast of black bumper/fender/roof against the body color. If it is all the same, there is no definition to the lines of the Jeep. My 08 X is also red. I saw you paint the headlight retainer rings and thought, when the heck didn't I do that?!? It will be my next minor mod.
One thing I would LOVE to see someone do (coughing ben coughing) is to do an LS swap without all the expensive harness swaps... old school like your guy's LJ.
Looks great! I love two door jeeps. From past experience, you might find the rear corner panels get damaged easy without having bumper protection there.
So my kbd flares should be in this Wednesday. I ordered them last week after balling them for some time. I think I decided on a good way to coat them that’s better than paint. Might also be a good idea for a video for the channel. I am going to use the Vvivid indestructible vinyl wrap. The narrow rolls are very inexpensive on Amazon and the stuff seems pretty tough. Give a shout-out if you decide to try it out! Love the channel, keep it up!
Not sure on the part number, but here’s a link www.kbdbodykits.com/jeep-wrangler-jk-flat-polyurethane-flat-fender-flares-kit?gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwvdajBhBEEiwAeMh1U-wUfJe_7FL-fFY9Qfsy0QzIwa9Tt-7yYyqBUthTWtNR-SVbEnhHJxoC5JUQAvD_BwE
I was gonna buy the Motobilt Tomahawk frame chop bumper but it's stupid that you can't keep your Rubi sway bar disconnect ,literally one of the best features imo it has never failed me. I might buy the OHF one.
Love the contrast of the Black flares with the Red body. As far as the bumpers go, IMO paint them. First choice would be Black, second would be Red. Love what you did with the headlight rings. Next time my grill is off, that's what I'm going to do. What steering upgrade are you planning on going with? Keep the great tutorial build videos coming Ben. Say hi to Cassie.
I prefer the beefy stock look. But with 33's/35 m/t's on original rims. (why? because they are way lighter to pick up than the aftermarket steel one's.) Idk, jeeps looks funky to me with the small aftermarket thin fenders.
Keep the bumpers's natural aluminum, Maybe put a clear coat bumpers, But remember they're bumpers they're there to be bumped and scratched, So, If you scratch them you have to repaint them.
I think if you painted the fender flares and ran them up against a rock or tree, the bending of the flares would cause the paint to Crack. I would leave them as is.
How about throwing a coat of clear on those hood latches before they even hit any of the elements to see if you can extend the aesthetic life of them. My opinion on painting the new parts is: Paint the bumpers black and leave the fender flares as they are; they're pretty flexible and any paint you put on them is going to crack. Just sayin'...
I see you commented extensively on bumpers, flares and tail lights but not on the headlights. Were there issues with the headlights? Did they not perform as well as expected? I am looking for reasonably priced alternatives to mainstream brands and would appreciate your objective assessment of the headlights. Thanks.
5:15 I think over all the fenders look good but in my province (same province as @casey_250 ) we have a law here that the tire can't stick out more than 30 cm (1 ") past the fender so I would have to go to a wider version. 15:18 Either black or color match the bumpers and fenders, also on the rear inner fender well paint that black.
I think you will regret painting those fenders if you plan to offroad it at all. I'd leave them black. I'd probably just clear the aluminum. It will still look good when it's scratched and the touch ups will be easy.
Hello. I have a 2013 jeep wrangler sport 2-Door and it's all stock. I've done some upgrades like the tires and sidesteps. I'm in the process of putting a Winch on my jeep and I'm going to do something with the exhaust system. How much would you charge for the finders and the front and rear bumpers.
I’m just not a fan of the “skinny trail fender flares”. I understand the purpose but I just don’t like that much tire showing. Love the bumpers and taillights
A few small details: -leave the fender flares alone -color match the bumpers red -remove the chrome Jeep emblem from the grille.. looks cleaner -remove fender emblem decals also
Please help me out, I'm seeking the plastic grab handles the JL has for my 17 JK. You see hitting my head on the solid metal handles sold for the JK doesn't sound like much fun. Soft plastic sounds much better for crash landings. Why can't someone make a post mount Plastic Handle like the JL for the JK?
Not this one, 180k miles. The engine is still running really well and doesnt burn oil. However boost might not be the best idea with the miles. However the 3.8 is a good engine that can handle 8-9 lbs psi fairly well. Im still trying to decide on engine mods/swaps.
So in my state of Pennsylvania we have a law that states your tires can't stick out past your flares more than 2" to pass the state inspection. So with your stock tires, how far do they stick out? If you don't mind checking.
@@JKGearandGadgets I kinda thought that would be the case. I'm thinking of holding onto my stock flares and swapping them out when I get inspected. I do that with my tires now. Lol Also The Police are much more lenient when your tires aren't covered by the flares.
She started a new here as an accounting Controller so thats keeping her really busy lol. We will probably end up just focusing on this channel and include her projects here. The goal was to both do UA-cam full time, but inflation and real life with Kids just doesnt make that possible

Seeing the jeep stock reminds me of how mine looked around 2 years ago. 2009 2 door jk here.
The stock look was fun while it lasted!
paint them black. For the flares, use an adhesion promotor if they're flexible, and use a good automotive paint.
I've had a set of JW speaker headlights in my Western Star for almost six years I love them
I have those hood latches installed. I’d recommend switching the pin and cord to the backside. If it gets snagged on something it will just pull the pin out, as opposed to getting caught and potentially causing damage.

I have the OHF new two door skids on my JK and man, they're beefy and high quality
Well now I have to go see if they offer those bumpers in a standard bolt on fit without cutting my frame. Thanks for the videos.
Color is such a personal preference. For me, I like the contrast of black bumper/fender/roof against the body color. If it is all the same, there is no definition to the lines of the Jeep. I thought the same thing. Next time my grill comes off I'm going to clean and paint the rings. They look great Ben.
Looks Good Ben, I would say raptor line the bumpers black with accents of the rim colors you will choose and color match the fenders to the Jeep body.
You have a pair of Crocs on the wall, that's awesome.
I would just paint the bumpers and wheels black. Looks like a pretty solid little rig
The Walker Evans wheels look awesome.
Interested in the headlights you bought would love to see a video on those 😁
two door the way to go!
One thing I would LOVE to see someone do (coughing ben coughing) is to do an LS swap without all the expensive harness swaps... old school like your guy's LJ.
Well, I guess the KBD fenders got enough of a thumbs up to be put on this one. That's good to hear since I just installed the same on my JKU.
I vote paint match bumpers and fenders. 🎉
I have those hood latches and the sun has not faded them
That’s what I like to hear!
I started with stock 2 door jk as well. My interior sound proofing was one of my top favorite mods, then rubicon 4:1 tc, and 35’s.
I installed led bulbs in my stock JKU headlights. Huge improvement over stock halogen
Looks great! I love two door jeeps. From past experience, you might find the rear corner panels get damaged easy without having bumper protection there.

You should definitely paint the fenders and bumpers red! That would look sick ! 🤘🏽
Always love your builds!!🎉🎉
Thanks man!
Really looks great I’m really liking the hood latches
I have those fenders and really like them, they have held up great. Really like that front bumper.
Definitely paint the flares, I’ve had mine on for a year and they fade a bit without being painted.
Stellar job) regarding the KBD fenders, may I ask. What are the part numbers for front & back - there're really cool.
BTW, enjoyed your videos.😀

More power to you I am never chopping up mine
Man. It looks like a whole new jeep. Build done
This is a super cool build… I’d say color match the bumpers!!
Keep up the incredible work 👍
Looking good! I really like the raw aluminum.
Amazing transformation, absolutely LOVE everything you did!
Thanks! I really like how its coming along

Any updates on this Jeep? Just picked up a 17 jku for the wife so going to start this whole thing over. Going to be more budget friendly with hers.
Jk Gear and Gadgets for the win🤘🏼
plasti dip is flexible and a clear coat keeps it from rubbing off
Those are some killer mods so far!
Great video! I really like the flares, I need to look into a set for myself.
Color matched fenders would be cool
Polish the aluminum and then sharkhide
Garage looking 🔥🔥🔥
Slowly but surely! Its a mess right now lol
Red paint IMO! Love this build!
Bumper looks really nice. But do you have to cut off the lower cross brace on the front? I ask because that's where my Teraflex s/t swaybar goes.
Yes. However they do have other bumpers with similar styling that might work with that sway bar
I would love to see the fender flares painted
Great video. Sucks high beam off-road is out of business. Guess my lifetime warranty on my headlights will be hard to use
Looking good ❤
Keep the bumpers's natural aluminum, Maybe put a clear coat bumpers, But remember they're bumpers they're there to be bumped and scratched, So, If you scratch them you have to repaint them.
I would for sure paint the bumpers
I’m still using my Amazon lights lol fours years now, it was just meant to be something to hold me over till I got Jw’s…
funny how that works sometimes!
Very nice look
I would paint the finders and the bumpers red with black rims
Line-X the bumpers and flares.👍
I think if you painted the fender flares and ran them up against a rock or tree, the bending of the flares would cause the paint to Crack. I would leave them as is.
Color match fenders flares with black bumpers. Just my opinion as I did mine this way, but it's your jeep... paint them pink for all I care lol.
How about throwing a coat of clear on those hood latches before they even hit any of the elements to see if you can extend the aesthetic life of them. Everything I try to clear coat only lasts 2 years max before it yellows. I need to find a good clear coat paint
Paint match the fenders and bumpers. Keep the wheels black. I’d love to see how it looks.
I like those fender flares, I hadn’t seen those yet. Don’t you use JScan anymore?
the KBD flares will deff need some paint after 4 month of brutal sun attack they will fade Just a heads up, beautiful two door btw
I run the KBD fenders on my JK
I see you commented extensively on bumpers, flares and tail lights but not on the headlights. Were there issues with the headlights? Did they not perform as well as expected? I am looking for reasonably priced alternatives to mainstream brands and would appreciate your objective assessment of the headlights. Thanks.
I wanted to wait until I could use them and get some night recording with them, will happen in a future video!
Looks pretty good! 👍👍
Ben,
How do the KBD fenders compare to the MCE fenders? I like the narrow MCE fenders, but the rounded edges of the KBD’s. Time will tell with fading…
like the fenders with exception of them not using black install screws, would look better not seeing the silver screws IMO
True. I plan on painting then. Unfortunately most black hardware rusts really fast. They would have to send screws out to powder coating
I’d say maybe plastidip because it’s rubber so it can flex and you can get different colors so match whatever
Wish you kept the xj and did videos haha
Sick
Rock sliders?
Those fender flares look really cool. What did you do with the side marker lights?
Left them off. They have an option to drill a hole and install a provided amber LED
5:15 I think over all the fenders look good but in my province (same province as @casey_250 ) we have a law here that the tire can't stick out more than 30 cm (1 ") past the fender so I would have to go to a wider version.

Most Likely!

I’ll be there assisting with the event! I might not be a trail guide, but I will be there helping where needed

Cool 😎 jeep 🚙 .
Love the bumpers. Wish the labor required was not so extensive
They have some bolt on options available!

What's the brand/name of those aluminum wheels? Jeep is looking good.
They are an older set of Walker Evans Racing. They are simulated beadlocks with a removable ring,
Would you consider boosting this jeep? Custom Turbo set up or just normal blower
Not this one, 180k miles. The engine is still running really well and doesnt burn oil. However boost might not be the best idea with the miles. However the 3.8 is a good engine that can handle 8-9 lbs psi fairly well. Im still trying to decide on engine mods/swaps.
What did you paint the frame chop job with? Rust stopper?
So in my state of Pennsylvania we have a law that states your tires can't stick out past your flares more than 2" to pass the state inspection. So with your stock tires, how far do they stick out? If you don't mind checking.
The tops of the flare covered the stocks, but the way they angle down and in exposes alot of tire which probably wouldnt pass

Paint it black 🖤🖤
i kind of preferred it stock. LOL
Keep fenders black and add a Willys grill and black bumpers
