Did the same thing with my 92 square nose. Thank you for documenting not a lot of videos out there!

I had a hard time trying to see the "wet" foam in your video. A lot of the foam looked super dry!? Could just be the lighting... My SN felt heavy. I weighed it. 355 pounds. I drilled two drain plug holes and hallowed out 1 inch holes all the way to the bulkead. Shop vac and 2 months using heat/fan/vaccum. Iv gotten the ski down to 304 pounds. Slow process but I have a long winter. In Canada. 7 months worth of dry time! Ill be sealing up everything and installing new drain plugs. Water was getting in through my ride plate inserts. 95 superjet.

Yeah, not a lot of mine was wet. My tray was in pretty good shape…sounds like that’s another place it can come in. Clever strategy 👍🏽

Just bought a 1991 square nose 650. Almost all stock, so it’ll be easy to work with. I rode it for about 20 mins today and it died on me. I paddled to shore and was able to start it again after another 15 mins or so, then it died on me again.
I saw your video about the kill switch, I disconnected that and still not firing up. I did some research and it may be a faulty pink “temperature” wire, in the CDI telling the jetski that it’s overheating. I am wondering if you could make a video on the cooling system. There’s nothing on UA-cam about the 1991 SJ. Thanks!

Hey Connor, congrats on the buy! Sounds like a good starter ski. Check the www.x-h2o.com forums for more info on the temp sensor. I simply removed mine about a year ago and have had no problems. Have several buddies that have done the same. That said, it sounds like the check valve on your fuel tank vent is installed backwards. This causes a vacuum in your fuel tank as you use fuel, because it doesn’t allow air into the tank to replace the volume of fuel consumed. Eventually, there’s such a vacuum in the tank that the engine stops getting fuel. An easy way to see if this is your problem is to open the fuel filler cap after the ski dies to equalize the pressure, then replace the cap and try starting it again.
Let me know what you find!

How can you know if your ski is waterlogged?

The easiest way is to compare with other SJs. If you ride with others, compare with how theirs float or how heavy theirs are when lifted from the rear. Other than that, square noses generally become waterlogged more easily than round noses. Some of this has to do with the tray’s tendency to crack on square noses.

Great video. Just picked up a SN superjet and it has a list to the rear port side of the ski. I assume this means that I have some water invasion in the back somewhere?

I wouldn’t assume that. Mine listed a bit before I defoamed and still does afterward. Pretty normal!
