As we know, plastic is strong, flexible and durable making it extremely useful, however that also means it never really breaks down.
100,000 marine mammals and turtles and 1 million sea birds are killed by marine plastic pollution annually. All the sea creatures we see today might not be in our oceans in the future.
Great Pacific Garbage Patch
In the North Pacific, a gyre or slowly swirling whirpool of ocean currents collects plastic debris. It is estimated to be twice the size of France and Charles Moor.
With 1 in 3 fish caught for human consumption now containing plastic. The ocean provides us with food. The ocean produces over half of the world's oxygen and absorbs 50 times more carbon dioxide than our atmosphere. Don't pollute the ocean, the ocean, our future.

@@isacchris1 it matters because for far too long environmentalists have tried to guilt my fellow countrymen into policing the trash of other nations rather than effectively nailing the litter bugs. I won't stand for it!

I remember when plastic replaced glass bottles etc. when I expressed concern at the time that plastic will harm the environment , everyone told me to shut up .. I was called a Communist , a rabble rouser ..no one came to my defense, no one cared .. now my fears have come true .. only thing is I don't care anymore ..
