A wonderful shop Steven. I've noticed many of the supermarkets are selling more Asian food. And alot cheaper too. So many thanks Steven.
What a treasure of a shop Steven i just wished there was something like that in sunny Lincs , thanks Ivan
MultiChef888 yes it's the cheapest, freshest, non-pretentious shop Iof its king I've visited.
Most likely i cannot say much that has not already been said, but WOW all the same. Asian grocers are always better value for money than the supermarkets, but this place is even cheap for an Asian grocers shop. I also enjoy buying a lot of my kitchen utensils from these stores, they are great for bowls and rolling pins and pestle and mortars. It just goes to show how much mark up these supermarkets are putting on their products. Take care.
Love the fresh produce and prices, this place makes home cooking on a budget exciting!
Mate this is a fantastic bit of information and it's why I love youtube and independent media in general. I'm a bit annoyed that I never found places such as this and now I have shipped myself off to the USA and can't find anything similar! There are specialist stores here but they are not like this, at least none that I have discovered. This reminds me of the spice shops around 20 years ago, they were little hidden gems where you would walk in and take a big scoop of cumin from a huge bin and pay a couple of quid, and we could pick up kilos of beans for next to nothing.
I've got relatives in your area and they love curry as much as I do, I will be directing them towards this place that's for sure. Frankly the price of those brown onions should be enough to get them interested!
Try Warley Wines in Wednesbury they got everything, wilted corriander that comes back to life when you put it in a vase lasts a week, 50p
gasman I just left Wednesbury now ;) thanks for the tip mate.
Big East End foods warehouse just outside Aston, also Wing Yip superstore in Saltley just up the road from where I work. Another great video Steven. Thanks for posting ;-)
Thanks Mike, yes, I go up to Wing Yip sometimes, it's the only place I can get proper jumbo prawns :)
I left my previous comment before seeing those big bags of paprika and coriander, those are some incredible prices! And you are dead on regarding East End spices, they really are top notch.
It's a shame this store might be a bit far for most people but I wanted to post it anyway!
Nothing to apologize for mate, I have already fired off a few emails to people I know in the area about this place, as I said the price of the brown onions alone is enough to visit. The last time I was around Birmingham I was having to pay £1.29 for 3 large brown onions, it seems I could have gotten a sack for the same price lol.
Edit
And those chillis look great, in the supermarkets you just get those horrible plastic sort of things and they cost a fortune, luckily there are plenty of decent asian markets around the UK selling better quality chilis.
Hey there, Laughing Achilles, Could not agree with you more, like you say not only are the supermarkets overpriced on many of these items but they are usually poorer quality and tasteless. All the best.
heaven
Another great video Steven!
Chris Pettitt thanks :)
That place must make a fortune
where abouts is bargains based?
