Good find! My dad used to sell Caveman campers back in the 60s and 70s. When I was in high school, I used to take a new pickup and trailer to carry the campers on and make a run to Grants Pass for him. What a good time!
My Florida house was built in 1974, the previous owners left the half bathroom untouched. It has a bright yellow sink , original vanity, and towel rack. I love it,it has very little wear. I am obsessed with small camper trailers. Just subscribed, can't wait for you to use it.💕🌼
Man! I wish I could get my hands on something like that. That's an awesome bachelor pad! I've never seen that one before. It has such a charm about it. Even as an office, I would love it.
When you mentioned it being a guard shack that brought back memories. Did the same thing back in my 20s when they had me pulling 90hr weeks in the boondocks. I was the only guard dumb (or smart) enough to take the job. Work from home.
That looks really amazing! I love the interior design! It is in a great condition, ready for camping... You only need to update the fridge, but overall... It is a beauty...
For a 50 year old trailer camper it looks cozy, and keep that tank! I usually underestimate how much i bring to drink, so a tank like that can be a lifesaver. Pretty cool camper
What a fantastic little camper! They really did a great job incorporating so much storage into such a small space. You don't see this cleverness very much in today's units.
My sister spent over a year living in one of these near the Grand Canyon. Later she got a school bus and gutted the 10er to make it her art studio/storage. After she died it was no longer roadworthy so we had to abandon it 5 miles on dirt roads where she had been living. As far as I know it's still there.
That's a huge stovetop for such a small camper, and I didn't expect there to be an oven at all. The layout makes it seem larger than my 16 foot which doesn't even have a closet.
Those are hard to find up here in Northern Ontario, Canada. Those that do find them use them summer and winter. When the ice is thick enough on the lake to go ice fishing they leave the tires on and have homemade skis that lock onto the tires and take them out on the lake. A lot of people that are lucky enough to find one will stay out in it for the weekend ice fishing and a game of hockey with their family and friends. All the comforts of home. :)
Light Tables can wobble when you turn in Sleep- thicker table is warmer from Floor. Water Tank good unless you can carry lots bottle in not too hot climate in the Tow Vehicle.
I have a 64 model caveman slide in truck camper. Bought it in Northern Idaho in 2009. Had been stored in a building and looked brand new. Was a great little camper
You could try using the riser system from a standing desk under that table. They smoothly and effortlessly lift and drop a hundred pounds or so and lock solid at whatever height.
Liking the size and generally the layout. My back won't tolerate the convertible dinette seats and TBH they don't make great beds either. Keep the water tank for sure. Dealing with water jugs sucks. Consider A/C; 12V units have gotten to be pretty good or with 'shore power' a small portable can keep the trailer from turning into a solar oven. Get an adaptor hose for the big tank to run the Mr Heater and you're set to take on the world. Life's what you make it, and you really don't need a lot of things and space to live well. If you're not using something either make it into something you will use or get rid of it.
That's pretty cool, and I would love to remodel that. I converted a 6x10 utility trailer, and I have solar power, but I am still working 💪 on it. I hope to have it done by the springtime. That's pretty cool, so I hope you have a good trip!
Very nice! I wonder if you could do a hydrolic type lift for the table? Or a pressurized type lift. I can't recall the exact name, but I've seen them in RV's. Best wishes on your journeys!
There are also lift-out & down cantilever mechanisms that support the wall-end of the table top as you lower it down to bed height. It acts like a set of helping hands. You just have to make sure they can support the 60 Lbs. It's a beautiful piece of woodworking & worth keeping if possible, agree :)
I got a 1972, 16' truck bed mounted camper..i replumbed it with pex and put a bibbit on the back that pressurized by water pump...put a adapter on and merlin brand air hose coupled to California compliant shower head... Complete that with a shower/Jonny on spot tent and i lack nothing!
Yes it is! Excellent for one or two occupants if complete with a 'marine' bathroom. Wished Casita still made their Patriot, I'd trade my 17' Spirit DeLuxe for one.
Make a small pulley system to lift that table up and down. Be kinda cool. Like a small tackle block you can store away when not in use. That is a awesome little trailer. I joke to one across one like that as well.
I have a 90's Franklin, 14ft, and with the right layout, would be good enough for me and my dog, maybe 1 other. How ever, mine is parked up on private property with a shed next it, i now have double the space for a ensuite/kitchen/laundry. I'm off grid and self sufficient.
Great find! Caveman Campers have a good reputation. Keep the water tank. Could folding legs be installed on your table? I know the table is part of the bed, when converted. Also, its a beautiful table! Understand about the weight! Enjoy!
Thanks! I have been looking into the mechanism that lets you pull the table away from the wall to swing up and down with a leg that folds under the table. If it can handle the weight, I'll be going with that. I'd sure like to keep the table, if possible, it's part of the charm, I think.
Very nice camper. The small campers need the sway bars because they will get thrown around by the wind from big trucks. Also they need 10 percent of total weight on tongue.
Size matters! I worked for the county medical examiner in Mariocopa County AZ (Phoenix). I had to do a removal in a little trailer just like that in the middle of the desert in August in the outskirt of the county. The guy was a farm worker and head been dead inside there for two weeks. It was not a pretty site or very pleasant smelling.
Watch yer tongue weight. It weaves because A) too little tongue weight and B) not enuf weight in th front of the pickup pickup bed. I was a long haul truck driver for 38 years. Th last several years, I spent in trucks with 60 inch sleepers. When I got into a gem like what you have, it felt like a palace.
That's likely the best microscopic oldie I've seen....lucky you! Pretty good layout shouldn't need much tweaking. Is it 10 ft inside or overall? Thanks.
I think you're right, it shouldn't take much to bring it back to it's original glory. It's 10.5 ft. long, 8 ft. wide on the inside and 13 ft. long overall. Thanks
😊 I did guess that; you had me going for a moment 😊 I'm about to restore a '74 Canadian Okanagan trailer which is same size but in poor condition. Your video has given me some good ideas. Thank you again.
This is an excellent find. About the size I'm looking to get at some point too. I can't tell, is that bed long enough to sleep straight in? Or do you have to bend the knees.
@WildHualapai thanks. I'm also 5'10" so thats extremely helpful input. Enjoy the trailer. It's nice that it doesn't have a ton of plumbing and gadgets. Easy to work on and low maintenance!
It’s gonna fish tail if you put anything except fishing poles in that box on the bumper. Battery on the rear bumper will fishtail the heck out of that at highway speeds. A sixty pound table on the back wall is suspect to
I agree. I'm sure it was added for storage while just sitting at a work site, not frequent travel like I intend. It's going to take some modifications, but we'll get there.
I’ve thought about buying a TrailManor camping trailer. It’s lightweight enough for me to pull it behind my Ford Ranger pickup with the 4.0L V6, 4WD super cab. It can tow 5500#
Me and my wife had one similar to it but it was 14 ft when was around 22 years old kids kids we are from Oklahoma and living here now but we went to Bakersfield California to work and I bought it for $400 can we went to all the lakes around there on the weekends Lake Isabel Lake Buena Vista Lake Success wake me up in the mountains in it and seen the Redwoods we were only out there a couple years but with your head a lot of fun in it matter of fact I'd like to find another one that was in 1981 Bakersfield and I think the trailer was around the 72 we use the water tank a lot I had a pump faucet and back then I went to Sears and bought a ACDC television and hooked up in it but we sold it when we left Indian feel like our little Toyota was up to pulling it that far my uncle was a Plastering contractor out there and if we ever got out of work we use all plasters in my family we would go out there and he always had work it's funny watching your video just brought back all these old memories really like your video have a lot of fun in it
I would remodel it and put a black and grey water tanks, a wet bathroom, a tankless water heater and a permanent bed, small 12 volt fridge and 400Ah lithium lifepo4 batteries with 300 watt of solar.
If I was going to be by myself in that, I’d put the table down and just leave it as a bed all the time. For one person….just sit on the bed to eat or read or whatever…..saves the hassle of putting the table down every night
I am not surprised that it fishtailed. And it’s got nothing to do with the axle. Just stand to one side and look. It’s all out of balance. And that toolbox hanging off the rear would make things even worse. Glad I didn’t have to tow it.
True, that's why I'm thinking about removing the tool box. Although, it tows just fine below 70 mph since replacing the axle, so it must have made a difference.
Going out into the desert....keep your water tank, you never know when an extra 10 gallons or so could save your ass. Happy trails.
So true!
50 years old..retro beauty!!
Thanks!
I love this camper! It is so small, but it has everything a person needs! Thank you for sharing!
I love it too, thanks!
Good find! My dad used to sell Caveman campers back in the 60s and 70s. When I was in high school, I used to take a new pickup and trailer to carry the campers on and make a run to Grants Pass for him. What a good time!
I wasn't expecting it to be so nice and updated inside
Cute camper!! I'd love to own something like this. All one needs!!!! Keep your water!! It's worth the hassle!! 👍😊
Yeah, I think you're right. Thanks!
My Florida house was built in 1974, the previous owners left the half bathroom untouched. It has a bright yellow sink , original vanity, and towel rack. I love it,it has very little wear. I am obsessed with small camper trailers. Just subscribed, can't wait for you to use it.💕🌼
What a nice re do of the inside ! Cute lil camper
Thanks!
I love these old trailers, but you sure lucked out with the makeover they did...nice! It's a shame the dinette table doesn't work for you...!
This is a gem!
Beautiful!❤
Thanks!
very cool! lotsa potential!
Man! I wish I could get my hands on something like that. That's an awesome bachelor pad! I've never seen that one before. It has such a charm about it. Even as an office, I would love it.
Just love it!❤
Thanks!

Pretty cool. Like the set up in the camper. Looks roomy.
Thats really nice man. Enjoy it
Thanks, I sure hope to!
Cute lil camper. Thanks for the tour..
Very good find! Thanks for sharing. I drive through Grants Pass Ore often, where i think these were once made.
Super cute!!! 🥰
Thanks!
Looks like the use of space was really well done!
woo hoo! i used to have one of these, almost identical. Enjoy!
I had a lot of fun in one of these
That looks really amazing! I love the interior design! It is in a great condition, ready for camping... You only need to update the fridge, but overall... It is a beauty...
Very nice little trailer!
Thanks!
that thing is awesome.
nice renovations and many memories seeing this old thing.
I would love one that size. So nice.
Thanks!
For a 50 year old trailer camper it looks cozy, and keep that tank! I usually underestimate how much i bring to drink, so a tank like that can be a lifesaver. Pretty cool camper

Sounds like your sister followed her dream. Sorry for your loss.
That thing is really cool I love the set up inside
OMG I love this thing.
Thanks, me too!
Awesome reminds me of the one my parents had back in 70s.i slept on the small bunk above the dinette.😂
I slept in the fold down bunk also, except it was in a truck camper.
That's a huge stovetop for such a small camper, and I didn't expect there to be an oven at all. The layout makes it seem larger than my 16 foot which doesn't even have a closet.

Cute and cozy camper.
We think so too! Thanks
Very cute, and roomy!
Thanks!
Light Tables can wobble when you turn in Sleep- thicker table is warmer from Floor. Water Tank good unless you can carry lots bottle in not too hot climate in the Tow Vehicle.
awesome you got a great deal
I have a Lil Loafer camper. It is adorable.
Yeah, they are tiny too! What year is it?
I agree with you all.
i love this lil camper, a little cleaning it will be great little home
I agree, thanks.
I have a 64 model caveman slide in truck camper. Bought it in Northern Idaho in 2009. Had been stored in a building and looked brand new. Was a great little camper
I love those old campers. Reminds me of the camper my grandparents had back in the day.
Oh it's adorable!! I'm not even 5 ft tall so it's roomy to me, lol.
You could try using the riser system from a standing desk under that table. They smoothly and effortlessly lift and drop a hundred pounds or so and lock solid at whatever height.
Great idea! Thanks!
You really need to add the vinyl trim covers to the corner moulding to seal the screws against water intrusion.
Yep, I have a lot to do!
Liking the size and generally the layout. My back won't tolerate the convertible dinette seats and TBH they don't make great beds either. Keep the water tank for sure. Dealing with water jugs sucks. Thank you!
Falling apart right in front of our eyes, but yeah…check out the curtains. Huge improvement.
I thought that went you opened it up it would look like a disaster, but it's really nice. 😊
That's pretty cool, and I would love to remodel that. I converted a 6x10 utility trailer, and I have solar power, but I am still working 💪 on it. I hope to have it done by the springtime. That's pretty cool, so I hope you have a good trip!

That's a great idea, I'll be looking into that. I'd hate to get rid of that nice looking table. Thanks!

Surprisingly that has a lot of space
Yes, plenty for a few days.

If you ever decide to part ways with that let me know. I'm definitely interested.
Very nice keep that real wood table you won't buy one like that for your camper
How intrestingq.😮

Where will the generator be located ??😮
No generator, I don't like the noise. I use an Anker Powerhouse 767 with a suitcase solar panel set. It runs everything I need.
The smaller the better in my world. ;)
I agree!
That's likely the best microscopic oldie I've seen....lucky you! Pretty good layout shouldn't need much tweaking.

Yes, sir! Good luck with your trailer. I'd be interested in seeing a pic of the before and after.
This is an excellent find. About the size I'm looking to get at some point too. I can't tell, is that bed long enough to sleep straight in? Or do you have to bend the knees.
Thanks. I'm 5'10" and can lay straight across, but anyone taller might not be able to.
@WildHualapai thanks. I'm also 5'10" so thats extremely helpful input. Enjoy the trailer. It's nice that it doesn't have a ton of plumbing and gadgets. Easy to work on and low maintenance!

The pattern on the cushions looks upside down.(maybe cushions on wrong side) Seems like the leaves should face upward.
I’ve thought about buying a TrailManor camping trailer.
It’s lightweight enough for me to pull it behind my Ford Ranger pickup with the 4.0L V6, 4WD super cab.
It can tow 5500#
That looks like something I would buy cuz I don't care for black tanks and all that stuff
Yeah, me either. And I have a five gallon water dispenser that sits on the counter. So, no need to fill/drain the under-sink tank. Thanks
I can’t believe it’s a 1974 model and used
You can use tv trays for a table
Me and my wife had one similar to it but it was 14 ft when was around 22 years old kids kids we are from Oklahoma and living here now but we went to Bakersfield California to work and I bought it for $400 can we went to all the lakes around there on the weekends Lake Isabel Lake Buena Vista Lake Success wake me up in the mountains in it and seen the Redwoods we were only out there a couple years but with your head a lot of fun in it matter of fact I'd like to find another one that was in 1981 Bakersfield and I think the trailer was around the 72 we use the water tank a lot I had a pump faucet and back then I went to Sears and bought a ACDC television and hooked up in it but we sold it when we left Indian feel like our little Toyota was up to pulling it that far my uncle was a Plastering contractor out there and if we ever got out of work we use all plasters in my family we would go out there and he always had work it's funny watching your video just brought back all these old memories really like your video have a lot of fun in it
very nice. What did you pay for it?
Thanks! $1800.
I would remodel it and put a black and grey water tanks, a wet bathroom, a tankless water heater and a permanent bed, small 12 volt fridge and 400Ah lithium lifepo4 batteries with 300 watt of solar.
I would rip that closet out in the bathroom and make a shower/ bathroom area
I’d buy that and live in it and a little piece of property I’m single why not save a lot of money
i lived in a 5ft by 6ft room for like 8 years, would be big enough for me, though the space is being underutilized abit.
Ok look up fishtailing trailers the weight was moved back to lower the fishtailing
If I was going to be by myself in that, I’d put the table down and just leave it as a bed all the time. For one person….just sit on the bed to eat or read or whatever…..saves the hassle of putting the table down every night
That does seem more practical.
Were do you sleep??
The dinette makes into a nice size bed. (drop the table and cover with cushions)
Maybe plain the table in half, then it wouldn't be so heavy. 🤷
Hadn't thought of that. Great idea!
I would want a working toilet and shower if it was for me.
Your camping not living out of it
funny..... you block out the license plate that millions of people will see the minute you leave your property.
Well, if I were perfect, I'd be retired on a tropical island by now... but I'm glad you're entertained, thanks!
