I diagnose and don't generally do the repairs. customers want their cars back asap. I cannot tell the shops to hold on to the vehicles so I can come and show an after shot. If i had my own shop that would be a different story. But this is the life of a Automotive Mobile Diagnostician.
Great video, however I need to know how to get the plastic covering on the boot lid to get into the camera unit etc. I've removed the 4 screws but the cover is still on tight as. Cheers
Hello, I found the pinout for the 'C' connector on the back of the AVN unit. It has 5 wires: (1) camera + [~6 VDC?], (2) camera gnd, (3) video signal, (4) video signal gnd and (5) reverse. I'm assuming (!!) if I put 12 VDC to the reverse wire (say from backup light) it will activate backup view?? Just don't want to blow up my AVN if it's 5 VDC TTL level voltage. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have a Kia Cee'd JD 2012 and am having the same issue with the backup camera. When I bought it, it was blurry but working. It didn't take long for it to stop working. So, I was left with a black screen with guidelines. After about a month that stopped showing up. Now, when I put the car in reverse nothing happens to the screen. Opened it up and found the camera was full of corrosion.
My question/s to you:
1. How come nothing happens to the screen when I put the car in reverse?
2. Are the guidelines part of the camera or the audio unit?
3. When you took measurements at the back I only saw you use the red probe. Did you touch the black probe anywhere to get that reading?

1- nothing happens to the screen either because there is an open before the camera's power/ground/signal or you have a defective camera.
2-I really never tested to see which is were, but i believe they are in the camera.
3-the red probe is the tester and the black is to ground- I am checking for power from the radio to the camera.

My Kia Optima no image or reverse backing sensors working when in reverse, camera has been replaced recently and was working
I had a Hyundai with the back up camera causing intermittent communication fault codes in many modules. Almost every light on in the cluster. And limp mode like driving conditions.
However the vehicle I was working on. The backup camera was on the network.
I diagnosed the camera to be faulty. Was shorted internally due to water intrusion. Oddly enough the customer said that the camera hasn’t been working for over a year.
Thanks for your videos. I have an issue with my 2013 kia sorento backup camera. I changed the camera but the display in the car is still not clear. Actually the display is very bright so cannot see the camera functioning. Any helpful information with this issue would be greatly appreciated
Without seeing the issue I cannot say for certain, but you might be dealing with a audio unit issue.
Did you change your camera. Fuse
what do you clean the corrosion off with ? just a wire brush ?
tooth brush is best.... but its not a guarantee that it will fix your camera

I have a 2015 Forte 5 hatchback. Tried to remove camera yesterday but could not remove the white plastic retaining clip. It pulls outs a bit and will not come out any further. I do not want to pull real hard and break something. I wish you video showed details of camera removal.
Think you need to press down on some form of locking tab as you attempt to pull out the clip.....press then slide the clip.

Test as i did in the video. If all power and grounds are at the camera, then the most likely cause is the camera.. Thanks for watching

Does the screen just go black or does it go black with lines.. if so the camera is more than likely at fault. but always do the diagnostics first.

I’m getting a black screen with no line overlay, it was “scrambled” now it’s just black with no lines. Any thoughts?
seems like a shorted camera.. if you can remove it and open up the camera.. im pretty sure you will find corrosion.. do not replace the camera based on the screen..

@@JLsAutoSolution I have the same issue and removed camera and stripped it, it was full of corrosion really badly, cleaned it all up, assembled back and still same issue
@@UA-camuser1_me camera replacement is more than likely needed.. Just becarrful as corrosion could have shorted out the audio unit internally..

Camera is defective
Its a really common issue.
My problem, omage appear but no guide lines appear. New reverse camera installed. If reset can solve this issue, how to reset?
lines are in camera, so more than likely the camera you purchased did not have them.
i have the same issue when putting in reverse, i get the reverse guide lines on the screen but no image. the fuses are fine, the reverse lights work, the trunk latch and rear wiper work, so i know everything up to that rear junction is fine. i bought a new camera and hooked it up, but the screen still shows the guide lines with no image. i used a test light to check the pins in the wiring harness and the test light only lights up when i touch the pin for red/power. where do i go from there?
What vehicle is this.
if the lines are showing up then the camera is able to receive and transmit its signal.. Where did you purchase the camera from?

it's a 2015 kia soul. the replacement camera is new but not oem (purchased from a seller called "master tailgaters" on amazon). i have this issue of lines with no image from both the original camera and the new one.

Does the camera just pop out of the trunk? Was thinking of pushing up and out with a screwdriver, but don't want to break it.
It depends on the model.. Some, yes. The suvs no.

I have a 2018 kia soul plus, my camera was working fine no blurred screen and it recently went to a black screen with no lines or video. Would that be due to corrosion or could it be a defective camera? Thank you 🙏

if the camera is chaning from radio to black screen while going in reverse, that the camera is at fualt(normally) follow the information in the video if you can. if you cannot perform the work bring the vehicle to a reputable shop for diagnosis.
@@JLsAutoSolution when I put it in reverse the radio screen does try to switch to the camera but all it shows is a black screen and no lines or video. Faulty camera?
