Hey sorry for the reupload guys, noticed something wrong in the original one after I published and I had to take it down and re-upload agian.
I guess this means YT's algorithm will absolutely murder this video haha. FML.
Also IMPORTANT, please check out the final minute of the video for a special announcement related to Twitch and Song Requests.
Hey Alex if your doing more Video Game OSTs can you do "God Shattering Star" or "Apex of the World" from Fire Emblem 3 Houses
Silver for monsters as next reaction plz
Can I request "The Smell of the Game" from Guilty Gear Strive?
NEXUS (feat. Laco) - Promare OST - Hiroyuki Sawano
The twitch streams sound awesome
>Reviews and analyzes Devil Trigger
>Recommends awesome bands Celldweller and Blue Stahli
>Gives props to Little V Mills
>References Pendulum in his explanation of the shift from Industrial to DNB
>Creates a SoulsBorne theme for Nero out of Devil Trigger, gives it a meme name, and now the comments clamor for a full "Nero, Lord of Dead Weights" arrangement
There's only one extra thing you could have included to make this truly perfect, Alex, and that would be to mention how the song is structured so it can be looped at specific parts for the rating system in game, and how this was inspired by level and combat music design from Mick Gordon (if I remember correctly, they even consulted Mick about DMC5's music).
Otherwise, this was amazing. Soon enough, I'm not just going to owe you a pint, or a bottle, I'm going to owe you the whole damn bar!
Thanks for writing down these band names so I could look them up easier.
Indeed, I appreciate the toss out to FF10 but it definitely has more of a doom sound.
just commenting as a reminder so i can come back for these music reccomendations
Xanatrix Zadare woah... the demon killers soundtracks inspired the demon hunters soundtracks....
That is aLmost poetic, if only any of the hunters actually liked poetry
Celldweller and Blue Stahli are both good, but I think they both started becoming too prolific, producing too much too quickly. Their work just started sounding bland and uniform. That being said, both of their first albums are great, and Live Upon a Blackstar is a fantastic way to do live music.

Devil Trigger is such a high energy, rave, fighting music. I play it whenever I just need to get into the zone
same, i love drawing and writing to it.

I love how you use the arrangement of
"Neath Dark Waters" for background music while you explain, thank you very much for loving XIV soundtrack
Really loved the "Lord of Dead Weights" piano segment, that comparison to how dark it the song could be is pretty dope. Excited about twitch stuff too, keep up the great work, your references to other songs from different games is a staple in your quality!
You not having 1 million subscribers is a crime
Also, Lord of Deadweights 😂
Celldweller and Blue Stahli recommendation? Oh yeah, I'll definitely second that.
The way he says "Yeah I had that phase as well" sounded like it came from the heart.
This is the youtube channel I didn't know I needed. I love your breakdowns and the references to similar songs / influences. Keep up the amazing work
4:08 most legendary sound i heard of my life, definitely gonna remember that part my whole life
I love deconstructions like this very very much . Thank you
I need that arrangement for Nero, Lord of Dead Weights. That's as really cool.
Alex I want to thank you, I love this song but without this video I wouldnt have been able to appreciate the little nuances in the music that makes it so good. Keep up the good work
celldweller and blue stahli are amazing, gj putting some light on them
God everytime you do these videos where you go in-depth on the technical aspects makes me so much more excited if someone requests "I'l vento D'oro"
Something that i really love about the music in this game is how it plays part in the combat. The dynamic music system that amps up the power of the music as you style on enemies better makes the combat incredibly cathartic.
this is the most detailed and professional reaction/breakdown of a song its like you made the track sheesh
I love your videos because I learn so much. I've heard this song a million times and never made the connection to drum and bass, or that the elements of the song actually reflect the plot and characterization of the game. So many cool insights!
Dude he's friggin jamming tf out
Now i´m MOTIVATED. Great video. Looking forward to your next ones. You became very quickly my favorite youtuber
Now this gets me MOTIVATED.
Holy shit I never connect Otherworld to Devil Tirgger until now, thanks a millions my guy.
Just found your channel. I used to do sound and music production and had a strong interest in sound design for gaming and I love your enthusiasm. Will keep watching your stuff!
3:21 honestly it’s probably because I’ve been playing it recently but it reminds me a lot of the main battle theme from DMC 5
Love the amurot theme in the background.
Oh man I smiled so wide when you mentioned Celldweller. Such amazing music from that guy.
AAHHH that melancholic piano cover is fucking awesome i can imagine that playing in a dank mansion so easily. love that metaphor for the duality of nero being pointed out.
You are killing me with that Amaurot theme
That Amaurot mix at the end. What an absolute lad.
Like 6 playthroughs deep and this ost still gets me pumped like the 1st time
These videos are so damn good man! Thank you for them, your breakdowns and analysis combined with what I already love about these songs just makes me love them that much more. When you brought up the FFX metal track, it made me so happy. Would love to hear what you think about the music for God of War or Spider-Man!
The best hook that I have ever heard
Hearing the piano version was crazy ! Cool!
That remix of Amaurot from FFXIV in the background is pretty dope.
What I also love about the lyrics and the way the song is composed is that fact that Nero was the only character in the game to spend the whole game up to the last mission without a devil trigger, which is really interesting considering that his character theme represents having all this demonic energy inside it.
You can take it like this, his frustrations are building up from the loss of his, from his pride being broken by Dante calling him a deadweight, and the fear of losing family again. Just like the song builds up the moment where its says "Pull my Devil Trigger," it also builds up on that moment not only story wise but gameplay wise as well by stripping of the character of their devil trigger only to give them a new full-powered one once that climatic battle takes place.
Music is really great in bringing the connection to the story and themes that lies underneath. I feel as though without the song, the last mission cutscenes would have less of an impact especially with the remixed version for the final boss.
Please Please Please analyze "Take Over" I'm in love with this song while playing persona 5 royal and honestly I enjoy it more than last surprise!
Nice video!
You should do Persona 5 Dancing opening next!
That song is groovy as groovy gets!
Forgot Akuma !!! He is definitely in that "Have to kill stuff" category ! ..well somewhat . He won't kill you if you weak , oddly enough
Narrative opening from Gundam nt,it's made by hiroyuki sawano, the Hans Zimmer of anime
I was just fighting Sephirot today in FFXIV and was thinking the theme sounded very Devil May Cry lmao
The first time you hear this song while playing dmc5 you can't help but trying to pull off the nastiest combo anyone has ever seen.
Devils Never Cry from dmc3 is still my favorite mostly cause of nostalgia but they did an amazing job with Devil Trigger.
well just here to thank you for recoment blue stahli..... they´re awesome
Would love to hear you react to "Fear not this night" from Guild Wars 2, especially if you've ever played the games.
Man, now I need an instrumental version of Devil Trigger
Those synthesizers you pointed out remind me of eurobeat. Specifically like deja vu.
Listening to this song makes me wan to go back and play DMC 5
when you turned that to a piano... priceless.
"nero lord of dead weights"
ha ha nice
Oh yeah? How about the Opera Version of Devil trigger, Devil Awakens?
Nero, Lord of Dead Weights is the best thing
Please make a video about "Take Over"!
Finally It's Up
Yooooo I think he'd love the song Neo-Tokyo - Dance with the Dead remix. Scandroid(aka Celldweller) mixed with Metal Synthwave. So good.
Alexxxxxxxx! Please check out the soundtrack to the game developers, From Softwares’s PS2 Launch Title, “Evergraces!”!! The OST IS AMAZING!!

Edit: Subscribed. I love the energy in this channel very much, I also love music.
i had an ad play of you on this vid lol
Nice. By the way, will you be doing any analysis for the P5R songs? I know you shot down Take Over, but what about Throw Your Mask Away and I Believe?
We NEED to get this mans to listen to the tracks from the Yakuza games, Kuze's or Shibusawa's theme, or maybe even Receive You.

That piano version sounds like it would fit Virgil.
Hey what song where you refencing at 3:20? I couldn’t quite catch it but I likes the snippet you showed after
That piano version felt like it would fit Vergil
man u truly need to react to streets of rage 4 music it has dynamic music which changes depends on your progress
POWERMAN 5000 IN FFXIV !!!??? Literally WTf
Do you have any ideas of a music band that sound like 'devil trigger' or 'bury the light' with vocals?
Please do Resident evil 2, the classic 98 track boss fights, every Birkin battle.

I beg you.... BEG YOU.... that you do the soundtrack of Devil May Cry 3.
man can you provide the samples from the video somehow? they sound sooo cooool!
KEEP THE FUCKING MUSIC GOING ON 😂
would be nice to react to DMC 3 Devils Never Cry
Love me some pendulum 👍
I appreciate the Amaurot remix.
I love your video and subbed, but league music when? They got so many impressive musics.
Any chance you might do Bayonetta songs?
I adore how much Devil Trigger compliments Nero as a character. His fighting style was intentionally designed to contrast Dante's, who is a cool and laid back goofball. Nero is younger and more hot-headed. His attacks are all at once simpler, snappier and more visceral, evocative of an inexperienced teenager who's venting pent-up anger, which harmonizes gloriously with how Devil Trigger hypes you up and gets your blood pumping.
Thats why i think its combo 3 in 5 is nero's coolest sequence. He just sorta violently slaps his sword down like hes venting is pent up angst
He's 20 something in dmc5 though. He was 19 in dmc4 iirc.
Whereas Dante's Subhuman just tells you "it is what it is." It imposes power without effort.
@@returnedtomonkey8886 dont matter the age....he still angsty hot headed. Thats how the creators made him. Even at his most mature age, hes still the same hot headed fool.
Holy shit 666 updoots
To be fair, Nero was that "Edgy boy" in high school. Down to the headphones around the neck.
He reminds me of me.
WHY DID THEY HAVE TO MAKE NERO GO TO CHURCH EVERY SATURDAY
@@ryanlorenzo5003 To be fair, Nero's girlfriend is one of the church girls who if you fake being into God long enough, the sex is amazing. There's another slew of reasons as well.
He does have headphones around his neck in Dmc4
@@solarwarlock8144 It's like Alex didn't know he was accidentally cosplaying as (DMC4) Nero down to the hood of the jacket.
"Nero, Lord of Deadweights" lol

"It's quite cool when a game is so self-aware that the music itself is about the way the in which the protagonist kinda faces the struggles"
Highly recommend checking out the music in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. All of the boss' themes give insight to their motivations and personalities.
I second this notion. The soundtrack for Revengeance is fantastic.
I third this notion.
Is this a fourth I hear? Yes it is.
I fifth. Also you got hearthed, is this foreshadowing?
I sixth this as well
THIS PARTY'S GETTIN' CRAZY
Also weird to hear a mention of LittleV here
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
LET'S ROCK
Keepin' it stylish!
Oh well, I remember when Devils Never Cry goes like: "Steal a soul for a second chance, but you will never become a man" clearly mocking you for using gold orbs
Tbh I read this in a comment on a Devils Never Cry video
My eyes...are open

I love the petty insults in all of dmc3's songs. Calls you something but only if something is nothing
@@darkpuppetlordful Another one of my favorite with the same energy as the line above is
"THE FLINCH IN YOUR EYE CALLS YOUR BLUFF,
FEEL FREE TO DIE WHEN YOU'VE HAD ENOUGH"
The beauty of the lyrics in DMC3's tracks is that they can apply both to the enemies when you're styling, but also to the player when you're sucking hardcore, lol.
"NERO, LORD OF DEAD WEIGHTS"
Oof size: Large
BIG CHUNGUS OOOOOOOOF
Oof size: APOCALYPTIC
Now we need a full version of "Nero, Lord of Dead Weights" with vocals :D
Try the tropical version of devil trigger
Not being musically inclined, I never would pick up on the subtle themes within the melodies of music in games. I can discern what the general mood or tone of a song is, but something as subtle as the sad melody hyped up to 11 you mentioned with Devil Trigger? I never would have noticed that. Explanations like that are something I really like about your videos, so thank you.
8:15 "at it's core it's really kind of sad which works as a metaphor for the character."
Honestly, it kind of works as a metaphor for entire series. For anyone who is here because they a fan of Alex and not a fan of Devil May Cry, this is kind of what Devil May Cry is. The gameplay is over the top and action packed that operates via "the rule of cool" which says "who cares if it makes sense, does it look cool? If yes, put that shit in the game." When you delve deeper into the series, the story is a very tragic and sad one about a family being broken apart by one single bad day. On a single day you have a father who disappeared without a trace, a mother killed, a 7 or 8 year old child dissociating from his bloodline and the world as a coping mechanism and his twin brother who never came home because he became so obsessed with obtaining power to make sure the same tragedy never happens again. All of this, because their demonic father stopped another demon from taking over the world. Devil May Cry at it's core is the story of two brothers trying to move on from the event that took everything from them.
TL;DR nice catch on that since "at it's core, it's sad" works for the entire series.
That's the best summary for DMC I think I've ever heard. And even the side-characters all have sad demon shit that has happened to them.
Devil May Cry 5 is a good point in both Dante and Vergil's arcs, as it shows how much both of them have changed.
Dante has gone from a style-focused goofball to a gruff and serious mentor, whilst still having that quintessential dante humour, but it sounds more like he's using the humour as a coping mechanism.
Vergil, however, we see his arc occurring via V, wherein we see him confront his past, and work through the singular event that fuelled his entire quest for power, and the trauma after that reinforced that perceived need for power. Plus, the fact that Vergil's metaphorical demons take the form of literal boss demons you fight in earlier DMC games is such a good foreshadowing for how Vergil switches from antagonist to a deuteragonist and antihero.
Meanwhile there's Nero, the frustrated kid who never knew his father, was raised to be a warrior, and throughout the entire game he is fuelled by a desire to get even with the guy who stole his arm. But when he figures out who it was, and why they did it, that moment, which is combined with him recalling the events of DMC 4, is when Nero awakens to his Devil Trigger, which normally in the series requires intense training or it's awakened in immediate response to intense damage, so the fact Nero accomplished it through sheer emotion and determination speaks to how much he's been subconsciously holding back, because he does not think he's able to achieve such a level of power.
"wait, hold up! I thought DMC had no story AND that while not having it, it was also shit as well! What do you mean? HUH?"
Dear lord, I've seen so many people reduce this game to what they experience MOST, which is dying and button mashing, trying to do combos and relishing in it's mask - the over the top nature. Im forever malding over these sleepers that end up lying and gaslighting anyone who is new to the series. (BiG aNimE sWoRDs aND KiLlInG dEmONs!!!)
Thank you for that insightful comment!
I think you should rename your series to music producer breakdown or analysis instead of "react", people are usually get turned off when they see word react because usually the youtuber just play the full clip and say "yeah, wow, cool" and ends the video
but you actually breakdown the music, you give your own insight and the video is actually a good content
keep up the good work man, also subscribed
I think he should keep react in the title. The youtube algorithm likes it. And people look for reaction videos. But he should add "analysis" into the title too for the points you brought up.
ChefPK and ScruFace does the same thing tho
In Germany was actually a guy who wrote "analysis" instead of reaction in the title because he was/is a small professional music producer. Another "non professional" producer who has apparently way more knowledge about the whole thing showed all his mistakes in a really long video. He also showed that his analysis is nothing more of a more music based reaction and the "professional" got much hate for it. (It was a bit more extreme than what I described here)
So I think "analysis" is a bad idea but breakdown sounds good to me. (although you're nothing like the german guy)
The source is 'Die Zerstörung von 2bough' - translates to "The destruction of 2bough" - by the youtuber 'Rezo'.
Still he’s reacting to it to
The metal and electronic aspects are especially interesting in how they're used in the context of the series' music. The industrial intro and growling vocals fit much more with songs from the older games, especially the battle themes in DMC3 and 4. Then, it gives way to the more electronic sound of the rest of the song, easing old fans into this new game's style and mood. It's a really smart use of the game's marquee track.
7:00 What's cool is that Vergil's song, Bury the Light, takes advantage of this near the end of the song. It slows down the melody of Devil Trigger to a slower, more forlorn tempo, which both highlights Vergil's connection with Nero and the contrast in their characters.

Now we need a crimson cloud and subhuman analysis...😂
trudat... tho I find subhuman to be just generic super heavy metal (forgot the actual sub-genre of metal it falls under). Crimson Cloud on the other hand, at least to me, is a bit more blurred and unusual.
I’d rather get Crimson Cloud and Devils Never Cry

Celldweller, Blue Stahli and Pendulum mentions, thank you for highlighting these projects to your audience
Love your reviews and reactions to these tracks, it's always great to see excitement and appreciation
I almost expected a KMDMF or Ministry mention at some point, but those Alex and you cited are great as well :p
Small note: The "bang, bang, bang" from the hook lines up pretty much perfectly with Nero's Blue Rose shots.
Plus, Nero is the only one of the sparda family shown to reload his gun, and the "step aside, reload, time to go" is the exact time it takes for you to chamber 3 charged shots in blue rose to prepare for the "bang, bang, bang"
I got one for you that's quite a trip: "Colors", Faust's theme from the soon-to-be-released Guilty Gear Strive.
I really want him to analyze the three tracks that we have the vocals for! Especially Fight Like a Tiger!
clrblndmax fight like a tiger fucking slaps and I would love to see it broken down
Day 2 of begging for this:
My man, you are doing a crime to yourself if you haven’t heard some of Monster Hunter’s massive library of Monster themes. The music is a huge part of the games themselves, such that returning monsters in newer games are so recognizable by the music that accompanies them. Here are some examples: Nargacuga, Tigrex, Mizutsune (or really any if the fated four monsters), and Rajang, just to name a VERY select few. Please look into them, I’d really like to see you cover their music. Cheers!
The deviljho...
Valstrax's theme is dope. And Pride of a Nameless Hunter.
