Some other ones: Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (#3 in UK, #66 in US), Do You Want To (#4 in UK, #76 in US), No You Girls (#22 in UK, #106 in US) Gorillaz - Dare (#1 in UK, #87 in US) Oasis - The Shock Of The Lightning (#4 in UK, #93 in US)
"Sandstorm" might not have had a high peak on the Hot 100, but it got lots of airplay on my metro area's legacy Top 40 station and is one of the most played songs at sporting events here in the US a quarter century later. Escaping this song here is hard!
Thanks for posting. I've been looking forward to another of these. I need to rewatch the #1s one, but I think a lot of the UK 2000s hits I haven't seen will not have had a US release.
Really surprised by Mockingbirrd I almost don't believe it! Coldplay makes sense. The song didn't really get popualr here until it was on what seemed like every tv show depicting a breakup or death. Gorillaz and Kelis are wild! Those songs put them on the map here.
Imitation of Life is one of my favorites. US slept on that one. Also, Million Dollar Bill is one of my go-to pick-me-up songs. US...got it wrong again!
Wait. There is an actual band that had created the sandstorm song with a video? Wow. I just thought that was something they played at the college football games. Go Gamecocks Nation. Great list.
Other cases: Baha Men - Who Let The Dogs Out (#2 in UK - #40 in USA) Destiny's Child - Girl (#6 in UK - #23 in USA) Jennifer Lopez - Play (#3 in UK - #18 in USA) / Ain't It Funny (#3 in UK - Not charted in USA) / Baby I Love U (#3 in UK - #72 in USA) / Hold You Down ft Fat Joe (#6 in UK - #64 in USA) P!nk - Trouble (#7 in UK - #68 in USA) / God Is a DJ (#11 in UK - No charted in USA but was 103 in Bubbling Under) Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag (#2 in UK - No charted in USA but was 124 in Bubbling Under)
"Play", "Girl", and "Who Let The Dogs Out" were commercially successful in the States. There are scores of other examples from the 2000s that could fit into a Part 2 video: *Gorillaz's "Dare" (#1 in the UK, #87 in the US) *Baha Men's "You All Dat" (#14 in the UK, #94 in the States) and "Move It Like This" (#16 in the UK, didn't chart in the States) *Pink's "Feel Good Time" (#3 in the UK, #60 in the US) and "Trouble" (#7 in the UK, #68 in tge US) *Eminem's "Stan", "The Way I Am", and "Ass Like That" (#1, #8, and #4 in the UK, respectively; #51, #58, and #60 in the States, respectively) *BSB's "Just Want You To Know" (#8 in the UK, #70 in the US) *Coldplay's "Yellow" (#4 in the UK, #48 in the States) *"Papa Don't Preach" (the 2002 version) (#3 in the UK, #74 in the US)
Anything that charts top 40 counts as a hit. Anything below that is a flop. For e.g. Billboard describes a one hit wonder as any artist who has made the top 40 just once.
Darude, Safri Duo and Bomfunck not in the top !? They don't have youtube in that time ?! xD xD WTF P.S: - A lot of this songs was in the top in Portugal too " Narcotic thrust" was the less know and still make it int all the teens from that time in PT

Basically her record company thought her style was outdated for the USA public of that era and never promoted her records. Pity, but she still had an amazing career in Europe and Australia
I'm British and to be honest, I only knew 5 of these songs! The 2000s was a time when the charts meant very little here. Many of these probably only charted for a week or so before disappearing into oblivion.
I can hand some examples: - Britney Spears - I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman (peaked at #2 in the UK, failed to reach top 100 in the US) - Britney Spears - Overprotected (peaked at #4 in the UK, failed to reach top 100 in the US)
I had expected to see Kylie Minogue. Come In To My World and Slow peaked at 91 in the USA.
Yes, both were released in the U.S. and I believe In You too
She'll be on the next part
Some other ones:
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (#3 in UK, #66 in US), Do You Want To (#4 in UK, #76 in US), No You Girls (#22 in UK, #106 in US)
Gorillaz - Dare (#1 in UK, #87 in US)
Oasis - The Shock Of The Lightning (#4 in UK, #93 in US)
Hopefully, parts 2, 3 & 4 will be made.
Kelis' "Trick Me" was a huuuuge hit EVERYWHERE but the US. #2 in the UK. Didn't chart on the Hot 100.
We need a part 2, 3 and 4 plz!! Love these vids, I want them never to finish!!
haha, don't worry, more to come :o)
Most of these were huge on the US dance music charts. This list sounds like the soundtrack to a great night at the gay bar I worked at back then

Okay, but Sandstorm is actually hilarious. 😂
Why?

Mockingbird was incorrect in the US. It was a MAJOR US hit as well, peaking at #11, and even making the Year-End Billboard Singles Chart for 2005.
Anastacia is for me the best in the world so proud of her 🙏❣️🤟
Darude, Safri Duo and Bomfunck are my teenage tunes 😁 actually, most of these are, first time I had access to cable and MTV Europe
These 3 singles are the only of the selection that are hits in France (with Gorillaz).
Britney Spears we love you 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🤎🤎🤎💕❤❤❤💙❤❤💙❤💜💜🥰💛💚💚❤❤💚❤❤💙❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💙💙💚❤❤❤
Safri Duo was too good for USA audience
I wish you should do multiple parts for the Hits in one country and Flops in the other country.
Kylie Minogue should been in there 👑💯🔥👠💎
She'll be on the next part :o)

Ummm… making a playlist of this video right now 😍
You forgot to mention “Sorry” by Madonna, “What You Waiting For?” By Gwen Stefani, & “Millionaire” by Kelis (:
'Sorry' is on the No'1 UK, Flops in the US video
and It's just a first selection, will need few parts to cover everything :D
@@ExplorHits yes please! We definitely need a part two! I love your videos so much!
Do Germany next

haha :D
Shocked how many yank artists appear in this video as not doing well in their homeland. How the hell was initiation of life only 83 on their charts??

Never knew Whitney did a duet with Enrique?😅
haha where have you been?! :0p
She also did one with George Michael

For 80% of these songs, you could say "Flop in France" too.
I'm surprised that Castles In The Sky even cracked the US top 100, at the time eurodance wasn't as big there as it was in Europe.

I never understood. Why Anastacia never achieved success in the USA 😢
I'm an American who never understood why, either. She put out some good material.
Same. She had two number 1's in Australia and both were bangers.
A power house of a voice. Always thought she was the 2000s version Taylor Dayne - that style of vocal
Basically her record company thought her style was outdated for the USA public of that era and never promoted her records. Pity, but she still had an amazing career in Europe and Australia

SafriDUO 😌
To be honest the songs have aged rarely bad
Good music never ages .
No matter what genre
I remember thinking during these years that the 90's were superior and it shows.
you didn't include feel by robbie williams, it reached #4 in the UK but the song didn't even chart in the US
It was released in the U.S. just as a promo single, It didn't get a full release.
I never knew that Gorillaz bombed in America. They don't know what they're missing.
Allow a few extra seconds for each song, just two or three, so I can read better. Thank U!
You can take all of Eminem UK please
lmao

I'm British and I knew all but two (Kelly Osbourne & Natasha Bedingfield). Some of these were huge UK hits.
I can hand some examples:
- Britney Spears - I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman (peaked at #2 in the UK, failed to reach top 100 in the US)
- Britney Spears - Overprotected (peaked at #4 in the UK, failed to reach top 100 in the US)
Mockingbird, Sandstorm & Fix You is the only iconic songs here the rest is just gone no one will remember...
And once again the Brits have it over the U.S. It's getting rather embarrassing now.
Can't believe Anastacia wasn't a hit there. I certainly don't miss Timbaland and the stupid faces he pulled in every video
lol :D
